no, this needs an update and do it again in 6 months next spring with everyone spending about 2500$ for whatever he wants to improve to get a better result , repair, new supesnsion, new tires and whatever it might take to improve the performance but of cause staying in the budget. This is a legend , this collection of 80s cars and a sack full of nice memories.
@@guyod1 The Mustang would. 2500 will buy a lot of aftermarket for that car. You could get slotted rotors with sport pads to improve brakes, subframe connectors, upgraded shocks, throttle body, and better tires, and probably still have some cash left over. The other cars=no chance.

I've had 2 work trucks that went over 300k w/o a rebuild and a mustang that went 225k still running when I sold it. Reliability is NOT one of the 4.6's issues. To beat that Camry (would need to shave 9 seconds) you'd spend all your money on brakes and suspension components...and it would happen. No sweat.
It's a shame they couldn't get Paul to drive all these cars. It would have been nice to see how the cars actually compared to one another and the Camry, and not so much the drivers....
True. Tommy has grown leaps and bounds as a driver. He tends to talk with his hands like most of these guys so doesn’t have ANY hands on the steering wheel while hurtling down the road, all too often, but I really only fault him there. Being a retired LEO that did a lot of traffic, that’s a pretty big compliment Tommy. This was just for fun of course. The tires were all different ages, the condition of each vehicle was varied, and of course 4 different drivers are going to always come in with different times. That all ok though because this was FUN! Can you imagine if they were able to purchase a Vette?? That would have been an even larger gap in times. I think it was optimistic, mind you as far as being under $10,000. Here in Canada the equivalent price would be $13500 (ish) and it was not possible to find a decent example either. The Mustang her was actually really well cared for,,, until “Talladega Tommy” comes out to play,,,,, 😂😂. I liked the series fellas! Quite disappointed with the Mercedes mind you. Throw the hard top and sell it as that rare model that didn’t have a convertible,,,,, 😂😂. Let the next guy find out the story works well so you can pretend you didn’t know the top was leaking oil everywhere,,,,,😮😮. I’m not sure if that really was the case or not, but that previous owner really wasn’t too surprised when they discovered the convertible. He even helped them know how to remove the hardtop,,,,,, haha. After these results it will be interesting to see what the prices will be. People on here tend to overreact to flaws and features. I would pay the most for the Mustang, but mostly due to condition, then the Jag, same reason. They fixed the damage to the Jaguar when it drove on the boulder, so it just needs some cosmetic repairs. Then I wouldn’t even consider the last two, regardless. Even the Jaguar is a stretch,,,,😅😅. Thanks Team TFL!

You should do one more video to show how a good set of new tire could improve there time around the track and have a different brand for each car to see which does better. Example Goodyear tires on one car and Michelin for another.

Here’s a tip for driving mustangs in the snow: fill up your tank to full and add weights to the back. Helps a TON. Also keep it in a higher gear than normal to reduce torque.

After you guys done with these test, do not end this series just yet. Hear me out. You guys should do a part 2 series of these cars but this time give all the cars new tires, new brakes, a proper tune-up and repair all the oil leaks. Then do the test again and I bet you myself and many many others will be watching! Crossing my fingers that this will become a reality.
The jag wins always, these aren't race cars, they're for posing in and enjoying the fresh air and blue skies while driving. When you get out of them even if going to a job you hate you've got a smile on your face and you're excited all day to get back in it to go home. They're cruising machines, the road trip is a far better test than this but I still enjoyed the show, thanks chaps.
Tires are the most important part of a race car. It does not matter how much power you have if you can't plant it on the tarmac. I would take fresh, wide tires in a 100 bhp Sentra over a 300 bhp 300ZX with skinny, dry-rotted tires any day.
…..the xk8 has not only a sport button but the J-gate gearbox that enables pseudo-manual gear change…which allows to use high rpm’s and that is where the xk8 engine has the power “hidden”. Definite way faster in the “manual” mode than in the lazy full automatic setting
When the four of you are together I know it's going to be fun to watch. Tommy fish tailing through every turn and doing burn outs is the way every young guy drove these things. It's just perfect lol. Fantastic video. Smile didn't leave my face
These Mustangs handle pretty well despite the ancient rear suspension. Better tires and shocks, and lowering springs make the SN95 drive like a go cart. 🐎
@@angelgjr1999 I don't do much drag racing. It rides smoother and feels more modern. Feels like it handles turns more confidently. For me it was worth it. An old man with a cobra wanted a solid axle, catch was the differential needed to be rebuilt. So it cost me about $400 and I did it myself. I got lucky cause they sell for $1500 usually, then you have to buy a cat back. We did a straight up trade. I did have 373s in my solid axle so if you take that into consideration it cost me more.

Same transmission, driveline, engine..etc. For their low price, they’re the most fun cars you can get nowadays. JDM and EDM cars are overpriced nowadays. Mustangs are going up too but not as quickly.
4:50 mk4 Supra was legendary for being fast in a straight line while looking drop dead gorgeous, IIRC that chasis was always garbage in the turns on a track versus a corvette or other purpose built race car.

I still maintain that until you do a top down decibel test at 75 mph using the noise meter from your ike will you determine the best car and /or the speed at which Adres cowboy hat flies away in each convertible you wont find an incorruptible test . I got caught in a snowy day several years ago, just after putting Michelin pilot sport all season tires on my mustang GT. I tried to turn around on a non-graveled or de-iced road. Plowed right off the edge.
Fill up your tank, and add a bunch of weights to the trunk. More weight on the rear helps a lot. I’ve driven on the snow, even drifted uphill once in front of cops and they didn’t care. 😂

Nathan constantly made comments that a 2002 and the 97/98 of his model were the same. Might not be 100% true. Power output might have increased between that year span similar to Mustangs when they swapped to the 99-04 sheet metal also referred to as a SN95. They claimed that the 97 Mustang GT in the series had 215 meanwhile my Dad's 4.6L 98 has 225 and my cousin's '02 with a 4.6L had 240
