Waze: Migrating to Google Maps

Waze is undergoing some internal reshuffling at Google, and while the latest reports suggest that Waze is not about to go away any time soon, it might be time to migrate to Google Maps.
In this video I cover how to use the same or similar Waze features in Google Maps, plus I cover a few unique Google Maps options when commuting by private vehicle.

Great informative content BUT you should have emphasised that it is illegal to tap your phone screen while driving. There is a video about this on the Blackbelt Barrister channel.

Google maps was poor at knowing the speed of the roads here, so it would never work to warn me if over the speed limit.

What does "Avoid Highways" mean?

It means Google Maps or Waze will plan your route avoiding using any highways. Instead, it will choose minor roads to get to the same destination.

@@HowToDoItTech Um, thanks for taking the trouble to reply. Evidently "highway" means something different to Waze and g maps -- to me any public thoroughfare is a highway.

Waze is not being merged with Google Maps. Google just owns Waze
