Having had issues recently with being “out-of-network” at one dentist, I can say that these prices are very close to what it costs for underinsured dental visits in the US.
In South Korea it would of costed like 120 dollars in total including the dental cleansing. But with way better services and quality

Kind of depending on how new the currency is to her. For example a kid going into adulthood will be shocked to see how much money things can cost. A person from a different country may also be shocked by how little or how much 1 dollar in their currency. Which makes understanding weather you have more or less then average difficult.
At a point of learning this basic understandment of how much money is- you just give up and analize and ask questions like "well what is average for this?" "Why is it that much?" "How much more is this to this?"

My wife is a dentist here in California, she said that’s way too much for 1 hour of work. Good insurance will pay her max $600 for all that and patient generally pays $30 as co-pay

Idk about US prices, but I had a big cavity on my molar caused by a wisdom tooth that was stuck and couldn't get out completely so I had to extract it, got 3 stitches and the dentist completely reconstructed esthetically my molar and not just flat filled it up, so I was there twice and both sessions lasted around an hour and the total cost was € 330 (around $ 350 or slightly more or less due to exchange fluctuation). I'm Italian and I went to great young dentist in his thirties that even partially specialized in New York, so his studio is really on top notch with all the latest techniques.
I went to the dentist and for a missing tooth that needed a crown and whatever the part underneath is called and it was going to be 6k after insurance

Honestly as a US citizen this is cheap 😢 And that's why I typically avoid medical care. But it does vary a lot. For example an average income can pay nothing for a procedure but since we make above average we'd pay $5k for the same thing. So if you make more money you can really get screwed with how much you owe and honestly end up with less money than people who work less hours & make less.

@@c457jajsudbeyou should not avoid medical care ESPECIALLY dental care it could mean your life. my grandmother refused to go to the dentist in her senior years, she ended up breaking a tooth and still refused to go to the dentist. her life ended with her going septic due to her broken tooth.
I'm jealous of you other Europeans. In Belgium, they take more than 50% of our pay as taxes, and a dentist visit for a filling costs you €895 out of your pocket.

I’m from mexico no insurance in two days 8000 dollars 💵 cash I was mine blown on how they can charge so much and why but at least my pain is gone and my money 💰 😂.

For me in my country even putting a new tooth cost less that then
I am in India. Here, a dental cleaning costs $10 and fillings cost about $10 each. A full mouth x-ray just cost me less than $8. I love the costs here and medical services are good quality.
When I lived in America, I used to go to the Dental hygiene schools to get my teeth cleaned for about $40.

I got a filling in India at what looked like a quality
place and my dentist back in the US had to redo it. I can also share some comical stories about taking my friend to the hospital there. I like India's healthcare for being great value, but the quality can't compare to the West. I imagine the top-tier places in India are quite good quality, but their prices would make them inaccessible to those making an average Indian salary.
@@KMI2 I now live in India and most medical services in private hospitals are of good quality. So I can't relate to your experience. Many people from abroad, especially Arab countries, come to India for medical treatment. I personally love the affordability and quality. I don't have insurance and so far, I don't need it. Indian hospitals such as AIIMS, Fortis, Apollo, Aster, etc are world renown. I've heard only good things about the hospitals from westerners who've undergone treatment here. So I highly recommend AIIMS and private Indian hospitals to all.

In Saudi Arabia, 3 complete fillings + cleaning will cost around $150 max in an expensive clinic. Complex dental surgeries cost $600 max.

You have to remember that you are helping pay for the dentists' second home, Country club dues, kids college and the yacht payment and docking fees.
And a private jet.
I mean it‘s better than paying 52% taxes as a average citizen in Europe and not even getting the dental cleansing for free. But the best system in my opinion is the Swiss or UK system, which relies on taxes to cover basic human needs, but not much more. In Switzerland, the average citizen spends around 22% in taxes.

$120 for a basic cleaning in Arizona
even in Germany you have to pay for it, once or twice per year it is covered by the insurance but for any additional cleaning appointments you have to pay about 120 $
The pricing differs a lot, but the cleaning seems to cost equally much in Europe (and no, the insurances usually don‘t cover dental cleaning, you need to have a additional insurance for that). I know one doctor takes about 75€ while another one takes about 130€.
@@samu7308 it isn‘t always covered by insurance, however many insurances encourage in doing dental cleaning by giving you 25-ish euros back either on your bank account or in gift cards.

It can be even cheaper. In Germany, a checkup costs 0 euros.
And my dentist doesn't look as old-fashioned and small as in the video.

You can visit Hungary, get it done with the best / most expensive doctors (for example mine has a Panamera and he also works in UK) and the whole trip will be cheaper if you choose to stay in a very good 4* hotel for a week not in the city center.

Last year, my filling fell out. No idea where it went. So went to the dentist to have it done again. Middle of covid lockdown. I had to get an appointment. Three weeks away (without lockdown, it's just walk in). I scrupulously brushed after every meal to keep my mouth clean. Yes there is a hole, but if there is no food, it wouldn't grow bigger.
All she did was to clean it out a bit, pushed in the material, then cure it with UV. Don't chew on it, soft food for a day. All I could think of was you don't need 4 years of school and 3 years training to do this. Dentists are overtrained and/or underutilized. We should have a lower grade of dental techs, trained for a month, who can do all this.
While I was there, she checked all my teeth. It's fine, except she told me to brush twice a day instead of once. :-)
Total cost? $2. In the local currency. That's about 45 US cents. Yeah. Gov clinic. Subsidized. Did I mentioned I live in a third world country? Just to put things in focus, median salary is about $3000 a month. $2 at the clinic is just "registration fee", per visit. Covers everything (scaling, fillings, pulling teeth, etc) except dentures ($30 per set) and complex surgery (varies).
PS: my mom doesn't trust the gov clinics. I don't know why. Everything cheap and gov subsidized is low quality? Anyway, she went to a private dentist. $150 per filling per tooth, said the price list. That's about US$45. That's 125% of one day's median salary.

As an Egyptian, these prices are just unrealistic for me. My brain malfunctions when I try to convert them to Egyptian Pounds, but what I'm sure of is that it will take years of saving to go to one dentist appointment.
That dentist office is nicer than most of the hotels around here. What do you expect, they have to pay for their fancy waiting room and fancy dental floss.

Yes… that’s expensive. I have a private dentist in the UK ( not NHS) and checks cost me £50, my last filling was £100. If you’re lucky to have an nhs dentist it’s no where near that price.

Personally for me when I went to the dentist and got a filling it was only around $180 and that included the Novocain and laughing gas that they gave me. The appointment was around 45 minutes long but to be fair it was a dentist for 18 and younger.
I've never needed laughing gas for a filling, on one occasion it took 3 successive jabs before it was nice & numb, about $50 here all-in, on NHS, I pay my taxes as well of course. And that covers any number of fillings at one course of treatment. Has to be said that fewer dentists offer NHS dentistry, private costs a lot more, still nothing like USA. In some areas it can be hard to sign on for NHS dentist

dentists dont randomly create prices - they have to abide by and follow a fee guide.
And pay half a mil usd of education debt, rent for the space, equipment that costs 3 times more in US because FDA approvals and etc etc etc. It's not a doctor problem, it's a systemic issue of US as a country.

In Europe, this can set you back more like 3k€, but there are braces that are covered by the insurance, at least by about 75%.

Insane! I recently had a permanent filling and that was just less than $30. My insurance covered it. This is a rip off. I live in Asia.

I live in Europe, I went to the dentist for the first time in several years. I had some pain so I decided to go to a private doctor instead of getting put in a waiting list to do it for free a week or two later.
I did an examination, full cleaning, an x ray (turns out the pain is just a wisdom tooth growing sideways) and a tooth filling. Cost me 80€ in total and it could've been free if I was willing to wait (or, y know, if I had decided to go to the dentist any time in the past 5 years).
I'm Mexican and fixing a filling it's about 600 pesos, not dollars 😳

@@romanzodziej96 we pay taxes for the whole country to run, our roads schools and healthcare. only some specialists are fully booked for months (like ophthalmology) but that's only if it's not an emergency. i very much enjoy not going into debt to get the care i need. i don't mind paying a lot of taxes as it means everyone gets good care

I mean, in the grand scheme of cost it's not cheap but by no means is this expensive in the world of dentistry or medical care in general. It's pretty standard but thats what health insurance is for. If you can't afford to purchase insurance there are lots of jobs out there that provide health, dental, and eye care which don't require a degree.

I'm Lebanese and we're going through an economic crisis. Currently the average pay for the average guy, is somewhere between 250 and 500 dollars a month. Meaning ud have to work for 4 months with no eating or drinking and sleeping on the streets to be able to afford that.

Here in the Netherlands prices at the denstist are fixed by the government. For the cleaning and fixing your fillings you will pay arround ......250 to 300 Dollars.

In Greece a dental cleaning costs 30-50 euros and a filling may cost from 40-70 euros repenting on how difficult it is

I think the fillings for a 2 surface restoration is a bit expensive..... the cleaning is spot on.

in the uk you would get those composites done for £70 total🫠 and a clean for £60-70

Bro what do you work like 15 hours a year? Maybe that’s your problem. Working full time at federal minimum wage not sure what states actually are that low is about 1200 a month. Try doing better than minimum wage and maybe even get a job with some dental and health insurance unless your iq is just that low that your forever doomed to minimum wage
As someone who lives in the US, I can tell you that if it involves any kind of health, it can automatically ruin you financially if you get caught unprepared.
Unfortunately some or maybe most people are unprepared because accidents and no symptoms until it's too late happen.
I'm lucky to still be on children's medicare until November! Just came back from the hospital for a severe laceration and Medicare covered it

Dental costs, even with insurance, is very expensive here. I know of a neighbor who went back home to Georgia near Russia for a few implants.
I live in Denmark and going to the dentist is not being covered by our public health insurance. I normally pay around 50 dollars for a dental cleaning including x-rays. Last year they did a complete change of two of my filings and that cost me around 400 dollars including x-rays and dental cleaning.

It costs like 60 bucks per filling in belgium. We pay medical insurance that even gives us this back partially.
