  • @Acre00
    @Acre00 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    That whole album is awesome. They have the most clever way to end an album I've heard - check out This Hollow Ache(first album track) and A Monument to Silence (last track)
    To spoil it:
    A Monument to Silence ends with the chorus of This Hollow Ache, but they do a key change compared to This Hollow Ache. It's a really cool touch that I'm sure has been done elsewhere but I've never seen before. It really brings the album together and reinforces that it's a cohesive work rather than just a collection of songs.

    Aaaah this is so cool! Alustrium are really good friends of mine - I found them back in like 2010 because my friend was dating their vocalist haha. Great dudes, insane tunes. I'm so proud of them for releasing these albums that just get better and better with each release. They deserve to be so much bigger than they are.

    One of my favorite bands! Very cool to see you do some underground metal. Their lyrics are also deep. Another song I would recommend by them is Thanatos. Amazing lyrics.
    This vocalist sure is a beast. He did guest vocals for my band (called Æpoch). Being that you are on a bass kick you might like our song Delirium Of Negation. There is 2 bass solos.

    This whole album is amazing, and this song in particular is gripping. I'm generally, as you described, taking in the vocals as just another sonic element, but for this album, I sit there with the record and read the lyrics. The album is a dark story from start to finish, and to me, that's the bit of cohesion that it sounded like you were looking for.. something to bring the unrelenting tech together. So glad you covered this, as it definitely got lost in a year of big releases in metal, but it's one of my favorite metal records of all.

    YEEEESSSSSS... Alustrium is the business. Brilliant band. There's a ton of great technical death metal out there, but these guys are definitely up there.
    You gotta check out some stuff from the latest First Fragment album, because the technicality there, especially with the fretless lead bass from Forest LaPointe, will absolutely blow your mind. You can really pick just about any track, but Solus and Pantheum are both excellent starting points.

  • @Miatalustrium
    @Miatalustrium 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey! Thanks for the high praise and empowering comment section, too!
    Since I'm here I should make a suggestion-- it would be awesome to see you check out Anything by Clipping. Though, if you wanted to keep it technical, "Story 2" is a short song that might be right up your alley!
    Thank you again for reacting!

  • @ethanreed5815
    @ethanreed5815 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The tones of the guitars in this song are very interesting to me. In my opinion, the delay on the clean part and the distorted chugs remind me of hard rock bands like Breaking Benjamin and Drowning Pool.
    There are transitions in tones in other passages that reminds me of melodic death metal bands like Soilwork and some metalcore bands like Killswitch Engage. I’m even getting some djent vibes here and there.
    I really dig the composition these guys laid out. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything shift quite like this before and it’s refreshing. It was like listening to the Agalloch reaction you did Geebz; total theater of the mind in a completely different way.

    You should check out First Fragement. They are the most technical tech death metal band I've heard. They also do some super crazy acoustic work In alot of their compositions which you alluded to wanting to hear. Top that off with a bassist who plays fretless with lots of room and nods given to the bass space like you mentioned.
    I'd recommend Gloire Eternelle the opening track off their latest album by the same name.
