Honestly a lot of the iffy moments in these videos could be avoided if Ryan went slower and drove more defensively. Great video. However, realise that there is a blind spot on the left of vehicles where they don't see you. This counts for trucks, busses, vans and less for normal cars. The blind spot can extend to 50 meters behind the vehicles. I also do everything with my ebike. I see the same behaviour as you show with other bycyclists. This is just unnecessary playing with your precious life because those vehicles are stronger and can kill you in an instant. It is better to anticipate on others wrong behaviour or mistakes. Happy New Year my friend, hope you’re keeping well. I think the new rules are pretty good, especially towards motorists to stop them cutting across cyclists, and accepting that cyclists sometimes need to hold the centre of the road. My fear is that the attitude that pedestrians can walk out whenever they like is strengthened by how these rules have been covered by the media. That’s not actually the case, the significance change is: “when people are crossing or waiting to cross at a junction, other traffic should give way” Key that it’s at a junction, so pedestrians still should just walk out anywhere. That said during rush hour in central London there are junctions where there is a constant stream of pedestrians waiting to cross, so should the traffic grind to a halt? Rules still say that pedestrians should not cross when the lights show a red figure, and still say that pedestrians should stop, look, if traffic is coming let it pass, wait for a safe gap to cross, cross the road quickly and not diagonally etc. Hopefully people continue to use common sense when crossing. 🤞🏻
