  • Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke Monday in Inuvik, N.W.T., as the country observed the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
"This government knows that investing in northern sovereignty means investing in defence, but mostly investing in the people who live here, who've lived here forever. So making sure that as we build up infrastructure, we're building things that are for multiple uses, helping get supplies in, helping get commercial connections," Trudeau said, adding that it "is going to make a difference for the North for decades to come."
The prime minister also spoke about Bill C-92. "We made a commitment to reconciliation and that meant putting the desires and the vision of Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous leadership right across the country, forward. And what we heard from communities right across the country was the importance of protecting kids. We know that so much of the future goes through ensuring that young people have the opportunities, have the sense of identity, of self, of optimism, of pride that comes from language, traditional knowledge, learning from their elders about who they are and where they're going."

No one ever asks this question; "if there were no residential schools what would have happened to the Indiginous children?"

Can we at least admit at this point that it is very unlikely that there are secret mass graves?

Since the Chinese 🇨🇳 invasion of the independent Tibet in 1950, over 6,000 Buddhist monasteries and temples have been destroyed . This widespread destruction was accelerated during the Cultural Revolution.
In the 1959 uprising alone, around 87,000 Tibetans were killed, including monks.
