Unfortunately u cant go by obvious, its pure rules, its not about benefiting or not, i believe its a 3 step max out of lane and doesnt change depemding on situation

Sad that a similar thing just happened to Grant in the world championship 5000m. Was in striking distance for a medal but tripped on the final Hayward rail
Always feel bad about this race. Fisher killed it. Guess that’s life. Never forget running at the Armory back in 1993. So different. Fisher is a rare breed.
I’ve ran at the armory before. When you’re so exhausted, especially in that last 75-50m, all you focus on is keeping your legs going, not necessarily where you place your feet. Your form becomes somewhat lax and you don’t care, you just want to finish. That stupid metal bar has been the enemy of many throughout its existence.
All the people in here talking about “rules are rules…” Lol no way should he have been DQ here. Letting it slide is the correct ruling. He had the race in the absolute bag, and if anything he was slower because of this trip.
Unfortunately u cant go by obvious, its pure rules, its not about benefiting or not, i believe its a 3 step max out of lane and doesnt change depending on situation. He really should have been DQed in my opinion. Cross country is a harsh sport, not a forgiving one (and im not a cross country runner, but i respect them)
I agree he could have gone 4:01 but he was 3:34 at the bell with 200m to go. He was going fast but he wasn't running 26 second 200m fast. He was also 3:47.2 at 1500m so I doubt he he could have gone 12.8 for the last 100m
"If your heart is not broken....do you even have a heart??"
I mean officially that's a DQ but he was just so much further than the rest and it obviously made his time slower so I think he still deserved the win

i mean yeah he deserved the win but rules are rules and they cant really make any exceptions, especially at such an important meet
Honestly those metal rails are hella annoying to run by, I always trip on them
Facts
RIGHT
Caleb Powell ike
Yeah, unfrotiantely i di think they are needed cause it very easy to go in that inner bit inside lane 1. (But i hate them too!)
At least he got to break 4:00 later.
He did?
@@dancer1 yep, he ran sub-4 in the 2015 outdoor in high school
The only way he would be DQ'd is if he obstructed other runners. which he did not. so they let it slide
But he slowed way down

He would have broke 4m
He would have "broken" 4M (grammar police : )
4:00, maybe 4:01.
@@runcaz7802 If this was an outdoor track and he didnt fall, 3:59 I bet
JORDAn 10 well he did break 4 outdoors
JORDAn 10 why outdoor?
Great run ....would have been interesting to see the time if he had not stumbled. Great runner.
"He got into the green"! No man dare cross in to the green, that's a no no.
Lmao same thing happened to me in the exact same spot, RIP.
4:01 he was going to get
Those turns suck. They are on an angle.
It's to help sprinters.
you don't notice it in lane one and two
Terrence Brooks, Jr. Most indoor tracks are on an angle.

It's been a couple years, he's even a rarer breed it turns out
Was this In high school?
Daniel R yep
Oh, man, that poor dude.
This Grant Fisher fella looks like he has real potential to become an American record holder one day
I still can’t believe I was in his league 2 years ago, he dominated.klaa is rough boys

Olympic Bronze Medalist Grant Fisher
damn
Just think about it kennenisa Bekely ran a 5k at 4:01 average pace isn’t that incredible
Anthony Orduno 4:04 pace not 4:01 but still
Kenenisa Bekele
Otherworldy
Wow

Damn... life comes at you quick
Did he get DQ'd!?!?!
No they let it slide
how was he not DQ'd. That's ridiculous. follow the rules.
+Sean Sundwall you only get dq'd if you obstruct other runers. ( i think) I dont know for sure though

+CaptainBuckets No, he should have been disqualified. The officials just let it slide for some reason.
He cut a lot off the track even if it wasn't intentional he definitely should have be DQ'd.
No he shouldn't have as it was obviously unintentional and his time was actually negatively affected
Tbh he tripped because his arms were so tight

He should have honestly been DQed. Rules are rules
This should have been a DQ, it was 5 steps... But in any matter there is no way he would have broken 4 he didn't lose 4 seconds because of that
no he didn't lose four seconds cause of that but he lost his momentum/speed when he started stumbling
I'm not disagreeing, that's basically exactly what I said
he lost more because be lost his speed he slowed down after so he could have had
I agree he could have gone 4:01 but he was 3:34 at the bell with 200m to go. He was going fast but he wasn't running 26 second 200m fast. He was also 3:47.2 at 1500m so I doubt he he could have gone 12.8 for the last 100m
Austin McGlone hes he did u dumbass.AND as soon as he got back up he jogged the finish. Im telling u he would have broken 4 NO DOUBT
the commentators are aweful
this should have been a DQ
What a bum, should have been more focused instead of thinking of the victory
