Really enjoyed this chat. It's great to put a face and a voice to a literary agent. You will be the first person I send my pitch letter to when I have finished my book. I sort of feel I'm writing it for someone now! Thanks!

My heart goes out to the Scottish author, no one could have predicted Dunblane, that's like losing your winning lottery ticket, what rotten luck.

Good stuff. Great name-dropping too, LOL. Of course, self-publishing has made life a little easier for those writers whose books don't always chime with their agent/publisher. So we can still make a few quid with a book that didn't make it past the gatekeepers. Some may consider that foolish. But professional writers have to eat and a rejected book can represent a serious financial issue, as in your anecdote about Chevalier. We should always be ready to write another book, yes. That's the nature of the business. But now, at least, if we're free to self-publish, those passed-over books can still find readers. :)
