The story of what happens when a business empire collapses, and how people react depending on how much, or how little they stand to win (or lose) from the fallout.

    Welcome, These Pleasant Days
    by Michael Robson
Originally broadcast as a Saturday Night Theatre drama production on Saturday 30th January, 1982.
With Elizabeth Proud as Elaine Birmingham and Nigel Anthony as Forgan
A vast business empire collapses overnight. To the closely involved, the results are tragic. To the uninvolved, the whole affair seems farcical. To those on that uneasy ground between involvement and observation the consequences are erratic and disturbing.

I'm Irish and 47, and I've never heard of the surname Forgan. In 1901 there were only six Forgans, in Ireland. I believe it is of Scottish origin originally!!

The story of Elaine told in hindsight from her privilege upbringing before the second world war. A rollicking tale of a survivor told by a long term admirer

Entertaining but very odd play which takes a rather unexpected plot turn
around the hour mark . The excellent Nigel Anthony is unconvincing as Professor
of Greek at Oxford : although his profession seems entirely irrelevant to the
course of events. The other " characters ' are a mixed bag of the sleazy and the
puritanical . The ending ?......well, judge for yourself ..?
