The Barchester Chronicles are Anthony Trollope's much-loved series of witty, gently satirical stories of provincial life set within the fictional cathedral town of Barchester and the surrounding county of Barsetshire.
The gentle Mr Harding finds his peaceful life disrupted when his would-be son-in-law John Bold calls into question the large income he receives as warden of Barchester alms house. Mr Harding's daughter Eleanor is equally shocked and upset by her suitor's actions and she sets out to discover why the man she loves wants to injure someone as well-respected and loved as her mild-mannered father.

It is very interesting to listen to this story , told so beautifully by these wonderful actors, I live in the original building that this novel is based upon .How magical. How lucky I am. Although we don't get £100 pounds a year ........ perhaps I should enquire ............ although , after hearing what can happen , perhaps not.

When I first heard Mr. Harding in this, I thought I recognized Alec McCowen's voice. Tim Pigott-Smith? That's an odd coincidence, as Pigott-Smith acted in the pilot for Mr. Palfrey of Westminster with McCowen in the starring role.

Unfortunately the description for this is for a different and (in my humble opinion) not as good version. A completely different cast.
