Top tip for the subs: Instead of doing tier 4 subs go for tier 3 hulls with all the tier 4 slots. The level 4 hull does not give you much for all the chromium that it needs.
Maxed out subs with snorkel II, full doctrine buffs, industry buffs, and a good admiral can easily take on full fleets. Once I get a group of at least 30 they can be put on never retreat and sink the main navy of any nation.
Football diplomacy would be a nice memeworthy focus tree since (i know it's too late) in 1967 two Nigerian warlords made an 48 hour ceasefire to watch the football player Pele having a match in Nigeria.
it's kinda inconvenient i guess since you have to do it manually but if you do individual naval invasions with each unit, you can shorten the wait significantly, so instead of a 115 days for a single naval invasion, you do 20 naval invasions that happen to be under the same army, under the same general, same time frame that takes less than 7 days at most (becomes shorter with tech upgrades), the SAME PORT, that all happen to be separate but coinciding together. and no, this has been in the game since like waking the tiger at least, probably even earlier.
One focus you could do is for the Netherlands. They have a focus that gives them a wargoal against venezula to obtain their oil, of course no one actually does it because it puts you at war with the USA.
democratic brazil is really powerful aswell, it can "peacefully annex" all of south america and join the allies, allowing you easy acces into the world war, actually pretty fun
I've put submarine fleets with one submarine each on convoy raiding and never retreat, and sometimes I get lucky and sink destroyers, cruisers and heavy ships in naval battles that last for months, even over a year. Eventually the submarine gets sunk, but sinking battleships/carriers with 1 submarine is WORTH IT. Screens seem to become less effective over time... Also, you can tie down the enemy's entire fleet in a "battle" with one submarine for months, draining the enemy fuel supply. A 1944 submarine with snorkel is pretty much impossible to sink. Enemy also gets MASSIVE penalty for larger fleet.
Honestly because I hate naval if I'm playing as the Axis I just surround the UK with hordes of submarines and it usually works out. Nice way to completely isolate them with only like 10 fleets.
A good question is how all of south America excluding Brazil speak Spanish and it costs 75 to intergrate, but Brazil speaking Portuguese can integrate for 20. Surely the other way around makes more sense
