It was some local radio station's 15th birthday (WFNX), and the lineup was Cliffs of Dooneen, Smashing Pumpkins, Bullet Lavolta and Nirvana. MTV, which was so huge at the time, had a camera and crew there filming and interviewing - and they still didn't sell out the show. Legendary show in retrospect that would have been packed to the roof with lines outside had it happened like two months later. I was 15 at the time and didn't make it there but heard all about it.

My favorite artist/band of all time. Saw them so much I lost track. Then I saw Zwan a few times, not my favorite work of his, but not as awful as people say. But for sure his best music was during their peak in the 90s. So grateful we have such a big collection of tunes from then.
Absolutely. SP are amazing, and BC is a genius. Awesome live, too. Ive spent thousands of dollars following them on tour over the years. Worth every penny.

They started playing Sweet Home Alabama, got the crowd to start singing it, and then abruptly stopped with Kurt saying, “You’re a bunch of hicks!” Also, the singer of Mud Honey drunkenly interrupts the show. He jumps on the mic and says, “These guys wanna kick me out! Do you guys want me to leave?!?” It’s a wild video.

Same thing happened when Stadium Arcadium came out. It was immediately obvious to me when that album came out that the intro to Wet Sand was influenced by Over the Hills and Far Away by Led Zeppelin. I remember a couple of my friends not hearing the similarities and thinking I was crazy at the time. Fast forward a year or two later and Frusciante did an intro medley of Over the Hills and Far Away before Wet Sand at one of their Japan shows.
Yeah, back in the days...I caught the band at Neon Underground in Helsinki, and they kicked off with "Smells Like Butterfly Wings". Absolutely amazing.

I listened to Boston Boston the full album a few times a day at work everyday for 2 years. I made levelor mini blinds In NC . Front to back it's beautiful music straight from heaven.
It's hard to explain to kids listening to today's music what it was like to buy a tape or CD in the early 90s and be blown away at the energy and artistry of grunge era albums. Nevermind, Siamese Dream, Ten, Bad Motorfinger, Dirt, Core, Sixteen Stone, Mad Season's Above, Temple of the Dog, Singles soundtrack, etc. Unfortunately, it all morphed into alternative pop but what a moment it was.
Fun fact, Tom from the band Boston was actually a graduate from MIT in engineering and only got into music during college and formed the band Boston using musical instruments he engineered himself.
Went to a show in Bellongham WA. It was Mudhoney, saucer and some local stuff. It was in a highschool gym and there was "and special guest" on the ticket. When Nirvana came out everybody lost their fucking minds. It was great.

they definitely sound similar but there's a clear difference. They're distinct enough to tell apart so if I hear More Than A Feeling I'm not gonna confuse it for SLTS, and vice versa.
More Than a Feeling is in G major, the riff is
I-IV-vi-V.
Smells Like Teen Spirit is in F minor, the riff is
i-iv-III-VI.
Different keys, different modes and literally not a single chord in common.
But other than that they are exactly the same 🤡

It's hard to explain to kids listening to today's music what it was like to buy a tape or CD in the early 90s and be blown away at the energy and artistry of grunge era albums. Nevermind, Siamese Dream, Ten, Bad Motorfinger, Dirt, Core, Sixteen Stone, Mad Season's Above, Temple of the Dog, Singles soundtrack, etc. Unfortunately, it all morphed into alternative pop but what a moment it was.

Fun fact, Tom from the band Boston was actually a graduate from MIT in engineering and only got into music during college and formed the band Boston using musical instruments he engineered himself.

Went to a show in Bellongham WA. It was Mudhoney, saucer and some local stuff. It was in a highschool gym and there was "and special guest" on the ticket. When Nirvana came out everybody lost their fucking minds. It was great.
