i just can't grasp the fact that this man died at the age of 27. he really feels like an old soul in a young body and the music he has written is like several lifes full of experience.
If you visit his apartment in london, there are a few telephones there. He had to get extra lines put in, because he would give his phone number out to anyone and he would accept calls from anyone and just spend hours talking to anyone that wanted to talk to him. When I was young, I was sad that hendrix didn't live longer because he didn't get the chance to put more music out into the world. Now that I'm old, I'm sad he didn't live longer just to put more of himself out into the world, playing guitar or not. He was so sweet and genuine and loved everyone he met with his whole heart.
Awww man, your comment drew a tear from the corner of my eye. I've been playing guitar since I was about 14 years old and Jimi is the reason I picked it up in the first place. I wish there were more interviews with him just being himself. He was such an interesting and soft soul with lots of energy, character and charisma, truly one of a kind and paved the way for so many genres of music. At 34 years old I relate to your comment in a bittersweet kind of way, he was a genius with music and ahead of his time but he was much more than what his music depicts about him (way more than just a famous rockstar). I feel like I miss him even though I never met him..
One thing I am so thankful for in life is that I got to see him live for my first concert in 1969 at a high school football stadium in San Diego. Now, at 70 years old I still find it hard to believe.

@@detectif1061 Yeah? You were there? Got undeniable proof? All of the musicians who died at age 27 all died from alcohol and drug overdoses, most likely they were all tragic accidents, they all had multiple drugs in their systems when found, most had tranquilizers, heroin, cocaine, alcohol, quaaludes, amphetamines, they were doing it all. Maybe Cobain did kill himself on purpose but how does that exclude him from the club? Technically you could say they all killed themselves, perhaps unintentionally due to deadly combos of drugs, but still technically they did it to themselves by taking too much. Much love to Jimi Hendrix, he's genuinely one of the few musicians I can listen to all the time and never get tired of his songs, he was just a higher vibrational human being born with talent far beyond the limits of the human imagination when it came to playing the guitar using many different tools to and tricks to extract every possible note from those guitar strings! Fucking brilliant, humble man and a beautiful soul. I'm happy he existed and was able to create all the music we are still loving 54 years after his death, and new generations will learn about Hendrix in future music and guitar classes I'm willing to bet, among all the other legendary guitarists like Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eddie Van Halen, just the tip of the iceberg there! 🤘😎✌️🍄💚
@@yasashisa, the thumbs up in the end of the phrase means that the writer of the comment appreciates Jimmy Hendrix' humbleness. O like no final da frase significa que quem escreveu o comentário aprecia a humildade de Jimmy Hendrix.
Jimi didn’t “practice” everyday because he needed to, he played all the time everyday because he loved playing. And that made Jimi the greatest guitarist ever, or at least up to his lifetime.
he didn't practice in the sense of exercising. if you consider exercise as an action centered around a specific practical goal, then exercising in guitar would be what people tend to see as "practice": repetitive, mechanical motions without almost or just any concern for musicality. what hendrix did was explore his instrument as a musical tool, which isn't effective as mechanical exercises but develops you as a musician rather than just someone able to reproduce music. and also, it is enjoyable. that's what most of the people which drops the guitar misses: the way to become good in any activity is to, first of all, enjoy doing it. and I don't see most teachers trying to develop this taste, this enjoyment over playing guitar, they are just focused into teaching you concepts, applications, exercises... and you'll quickly drop it because it just sucks, it feels like pointless work as you can't even play your instrument freely. I play guitar for some 12 years and the first 6 was kind of picking and dropping it in these cycles of interest. only when I learned to play the guitar as a musician rather than just someone that reproduces music, something just clicked. never stopped since then.

Having low self esteem, having imposter syndrome, these are not humility they are symptoms of depression etc. Humility is being humble for the purpose of being gracious, very different from being self depreciating because you feel like shit as a person and compliments hitting wrong in contrast.
He was great not because of his virtuosity but because of his creativity. A lot of people don't get him because they concentrate on his solos, but real innovation came from his rhythm work.
I am an American who lived in the very flat in London, in Notting Hill, where Hendrix lived. It was simply a serendipity. We didn’t even know he had lived at NH before we lived there. It was actually a large bedsit and we still needed 50p coins to run the heat and the hot water in the hall bathroom. Later I worked at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the “Rock Hall,” in Cleveland and was charged at one point with the upkeep of his display there. I can tell you he was a much smaller human being than he appears on television and films. Much shorter and fairly tiny judging by the size of his clothing that we have there. I’m a huge fan but was a very small child when he was on scene. 🇺🇸
I'm the biggest Hendrix fan on the planet. And when I hear and watch him speak, I get very emotional because as farcas I am concerned, Jimi was the most tragic loss in Rock &Roll history.
Jimi has always been my favorite musician of all time. His philosophy that the Power of Love will always overcome the love of power has helped guide me in my own life. Everything is vibration and frequency.
@stevelauda5435 I used to have a shirt with a large tombstone on it. And it said "If there is a Rock & Roll heaven, you know they have one helluva band!!" And listed all the greats, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Duane Allman, Buddy Holly, Ronnie Van Zant, David Gaines, Randy Rhoads, Stevie Ray Vaune, & about 30 names altogether. I'm getting old & my memory sucks. And I've NEVER been decent at remembering names anyway. But yes Jimi was a very huge loss. And Janis & Duane as well. Ronnie Van Zant, although not a great guitarist he was a GREAT song writer & vocalist. I mean "Freebird" is an anthem .
Yes.... he never played the same song the exact same way! He couldn't !.... sure, the theme was there, the sentence was there, but the emotion of the room and who he was playing with changed.. he changed with it!!.... If you were ever blessed to see Nile Rodgers play ... Totally different styles, but just as brilliant... He was the same live! ... Don't expect what you heard on the album or radio.. oh, you'll still recognize what he is playing... but he just jams too! ... As a percussionist, it's what I did too, and I felt it my obligation to not only sync up with the other musicians, but feed them beats reflecting the rooms mood they could build off of!

i just can't grasp the fact that this man died at the age of 27. he really feels like an old soul in a young body and the music he has written is like several lifes full of experience.
Seems to be a trend with these kind of transcendental artists, they tend to be soft spoken like this
He who humbles himself will be exalted. Jimi was the greatest and one of the humblest. RIP Jimi✌🏾
Amen
I agree
Your articulated my thoughts, thx 4 that
Yes he was JIMI❤😊 the best TOO DO IT
Agreed 👍💯
If you visit his apartment in london, there are a few telephones there. He had to get extra lines put in, because he would give his phone number out to anyone and he would accept calls from anyone and just spend hours talking to anyone that wanted to talk to him. When I was young, I was sad that hendrix didn't live longer because he didn't get the chance to put more music out into the world. Now that I'm old, I'm sad he didn't live longer just to put more of himself out into the world, playing guitar or not. He was so sweet and genuine and loved everyone he met with his whole heart.
Beautifully said
Awww man, your comment drew a tear from the corner of my eye.
@@SoulDaddy33shit I’m 16 and I feel that partially. I find it so weird to see young adults talking about stuff I’d do as a kid or play. There was some music this guy was playing and it was from a game. I just thought “damn these guys way too old to know this.” Then I got to thinking and it made sense and I just thought damn, that’s all I thought In My head just damn.
Jim Hendrix was awesome. He came into the world accomplished what was needed and moved on. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
THE Greatest guitar player of all time.
So humble, so softly spoken, so uniquely talented, so missed. Folks may argue about who the best guitarist is but the gods broke the mold after they made Jimi.
RIP brother.
Hard to quantify the best at an art. He may have been the most distinctive guitar player ever.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
@@thisisisabella3634Right and thats very obivious and should go without saying.. aside from wanting to come off prudish. Best is uncatagorizical but if attempting to do so one thing that stands out about jimi to me is in a room full of peers who are on the list of potentials to be in that spot of best , they all had to pick jaws of the floor when he set down his axe. That means alot , if you took say van halen , zakk wylde , randy rhoads .... and they played infront of each other i cant see any being able to have the others in disbelief . I dunno thats just my opinion... if you want something more concrete and factual ... probably just ask alexa and go with whoever she says lol
He did beat the hell out of women, though. Treated them worse than dogs. The utter hypocrisy of being a wife-beating hippie during the Summer of Love is crazy. I like his guitar playing, but I don't respect him as a person.

Witty, too. Hendrix was pretty sharp, in his laid-back way. He kind of had the personality of a jazz musician more than a rock star.

No argument here.
When it comes to influence, it goes Hendrix and then everyone else
I'd say that's the best way to sum him up. I don't really get into best/top anything lists in any realm. But innovation and impact are something that seem more quantifiable. People who talk about someone's album sales etc as some kind of argument for greatness are missing the point.

Hard to believe he died so young at only 27 years old. He will be forever known as one of the greatest influential guitarist of all time.
He’s a member of the club man.
What a club?
Joplin
Wine house
Morrison
Cobain
Hendrix
And the beat goes on
@@Garrysullivanjonesthe 27 club
cobain aint in no club, he did himself in.

Profound humility, so intensely moving
Jimi didn’t “practice” everyday because he needed to, he played all the time everyday because he loved playing. And that made Jimi the greatest guitarist ever, or at least up to his lifetime.
Best guitar player ever.
No need to limit it to Hendrix’s lifetime. He was the greatest of all time. Period.
he didn't practice in the sense of exercising. if you consider exercise as an action centered around a specific practical goal, then exercising in guitar would be what people tend to see as "practice": repetitive, mechanical motions without almost or just any concern for musicality. what hendrix did was explore his instrument as a musical tool, which isn't effective as mechanical exercises but develops you as a musician rather than just someone able to reproduce music. and also, it is enjoyable. that's what most of the people which drops the guitar misses: the way to become good in any activity is to, first of all, enjoy doing it. and I don't see most teachers trying to develop this taste, this enjoyment over playing guitar, they are just focused into teaching you concepts, applications, exercises... and you'll quickly drop it because it just sucks, it feels like pointless work as you can't even play your instrument freely. I play guitar for some 12 years and the first 6 was kind of picking and dropping it in these cycles of interest. only when I learned to play the guitar as a musician rather than just someone that reproduces music, something just clicked. never stopped since then.
Zappa was better, and not particularly humble either.
He paved the road that others followed. So yes, that makes him the greatest! He was rock music's biggest guitar influence ever.

He was great not because of his virtuosity but because of his creativity. A lot of people don't get him because they concentrate on his solos, but real innovation came from his rhythm work.
100 percent agree. Some of my favorite Hendrix licks are rhythm parts.
I think it was some of the tremendous songs he composed in addition to his skills on the instrument.
Maybe because of his "sound"? That's all I hear.

Humility is always a beautiful display of authenticity.
Imagine seeing Jimi & Stevie Ray play together..

He was the same live! ... Don't expect what you heard on the album or radio.. oh, you'll still recognize what he is playing... but he just jams too! ...
