The best thing about this scene is how wonderful the feeling of ignorance and discovery is. We were amazed at the discovery of another alien's day at work, yet what they were working on was to exterminate humanity.
【Prometheus Soundtrack】 made by Harry Gregson Williams and Marc Streitenfeld , the name is Engineers Flute Source, it's only 6 seconds, but I can't found it on youtube
My favourite part is a piece called "Debris," and it plays right when the ship is plunging to the ground and dropping fiery pieces of the Prometheus with it.
I agree sure it had a few flaws like a handful of dumb scientists but it also had so many intriguing ideas which deserved to be explored further in sequels. Looking back i honestly believe the hate stemmed from the fact some Aliens fans out there were worried Ridley was going to move completely away from the Xenomorph creature and they wouldnt see the Alien again, and thats why they so heavily attacked the movie. But i think if fans would have only been patient and given Ridley a chance, i firmly believe he was simply exploring the Engineers the ones who discovered the Xenomorph eggs and started experimenting with them, resulting in the urns. I think if Ridley had been allowed to carry on he would have connected things up perfectly into the original Alien film, and by that point he could have stepped aside and there would have been so much expansion and things opened up, for Neil Blomkamp to come in and do his planned Alien 5 movie. Trouble is Ridley kind of gave in to these picky, impatient and cynical group of Aliens fans, trying to please them with Covenant, instead of sticking firmly to his overall vision and making that movie exactly how he wanted.
Ridley scott if you see this, you have done a perfect job, taking HR Gigers work to another level, Please continue the path on the engineers and discontinue the alien creature for some time, this is just amazing!

The idea of an artificial mind created a species of predator is too much even in Alien reality. An AI can be clever and advanced but lack one thing. A soul.
The movie is flawed, but when people say it's "terrible" I can't take it seriously because of scenes like this. What a powerfully shot and directed scene.
It’s more than just visuals, it’s the way the visuals, music, and acting work together to give off the sense of wonder. That’s what separates art from trash. It’s able to capture the human experience
MonkeyZorr yo you should learn to respect people's opinions. no one is asking for you to say this is yours favorite but people are entitled to this opinions and decide what they like or don't.
I don't understand why people don't like this movie. It's fantastic. Literally everyone I knew who went to go watch this in 2012 were being such haters
On its OWN, it's fantastic. As part of the overall Alien franchise, it's a horrible inconsistent mess. People went in expecting a prequel to "Alien" and instead got a piece of visual art.
Technology is just a tool. Their evolved culture will also be way beyond our imagination, like outgrowing the monetary system and wars. Once you can travel in space, you don't need to fight under unlimited resources.
Jimmy KEL Actually their tech looked a bit crude and outdated if you compare the UI and instrument panels with our planes and fighter jets or even trucks. Probably their spaceship technology and design have evolved over this time
@@renovatiovr Outdated ? their race is traveling space and seeding life on countless galaxies for billions of years and humans are just started colonizing planet for not even hundred years in this movie. Engineers don't need to evolve anymore they already reached their highest point cultural or technological wise. Their ''machines'' are just their preference they don't even need to flex their superiority, don't you understand just by looking at their flute activating system ? traveling universe and seeding or harvest life is just another day for them, also do not forget their ship didn't even get scratch from kamikaze attack in the end.
A superior species No Doubt that quote gave me chills this movie who is the best sci-fi movie I've seen 10 times. The first time I saw that chair I told myself that is a most beautiful chair I have ever seen.
What’s even cooler is the whole backstory on who/what/when/where, of these “engineers”. I wish they made a whole series (not just a series of movies) on this. There’s a channels that got into the whole thing!
It's funny I always thought that subtle note played at 1:48 was such a beautiful and mysterious addition to the soundtrack. I only just realised it was a sound effect in unison with the circle lights.
Earlier in the movie they show our star maps, ships and tech, then in this scene they show how advanced the Engineers star maps, ship and tech were 2000 years ago. Look at Davids expression at .40, was that part of the script? Makes me grin every time.
David wasn't smiling because he discovered the Engineer, he smiled because he now can put into motion the plan to put everything else expendable... This proves the company then and now in Alien onward were only interested in getting that life form back into their greedy hands at whatever it takes, even at the stake on the lives of the Prometheus crew.
Ah, yes... Bishop... But dang it, the good droid had to get skewered, ripped in two, then dumped into a garbage pile in the end... But for David, he deserved getting his head ripped off.
I dont think they have discovered the real 'engineers' of humans/earth,,these look and act more like the so called ''fallenangels'' hence their androgenity and strong desire to destroy humans. He was in hybernation because of the bioWMD they made (for other angels'' perhaps) got out of control,,Like the lead protagonist says ''an outbreak'' and also the captain states that its probably a military ship. They are seemingly engaged in a conflict with other similar advanced beings. And there is also the obvious fact that they are not that much better then us as we can travel like they do and offcourse as demonstrated outwit them and kick their arse..;-)The AI I thought was very believable, I think he smiled because he had good news for his father to make him proud, as the father obviously preffered the AI as son instead of his own flesh&blood daughter,. However i doubt that the AI is really trustworthy because of his line''doesnt every child wish his parents dead''. So although being AI he does illustrate human characteristics. This film is a Brilliant fantastic piece of art if you ask me,,with so many layers to it, and meaning. Hope they will make a part 2 where we get too see other ''angels'' and perhaps a glimpse of the real ''engineer'' and much more.
Disney, please continue the story and themes of Prometheus! So many fascinating questions about the origins of humans and engineers are yet to be answered! It’s these kinds of questions that create timeless science fiction stories.
Awesome scene. We got our hands in the cookie jar and knowledge we didn't earn...we learn that we're not top dog and yet see a glimpse of what's beyond us...
0:10 "Hey Fred, these hard-boiled eggs that Joe brought for the film crew lunch today taste kind of nasty!" "Yeah! Maybe we can use the rest of them on the set for something?"
Production Design is fantastic, Fassbender’s acting is, as always, superb, the rest is a mishmash of half decent snips of ideas. A pity, it could have been a really thought provoking franchise.
All those years while crew was in cyro David was becoming more Human than ever then decided "im beyond them im god" same as how engineers created human who think theyre god
I keep telling people that it was called _Prometheus_ not _Alien: Prometheus_ for a reason. If you can overlook some ordinary side characters and dialogue in the script, it was a great standalone film.
This movie had so much potential and so many beautifully shot/rendered scenes. But I feel like Ridley Scott got cold feet in pursuing and pushing the Engineer narrative even in this movie. he could have expanded upon the theme of "creators" (Engineers) meeting their "creations" (humans), who had themselves in turn created life (androids). But they tried to bring things back to the Alien monster movie template and further abandoned the Engineers storyline in Alien: Covenant. I actually liked Covenant, but admit that Ridley should have ignored critics and stuck to his guns.
I luv this scene this and the opening prologue are my fav scenes in this film, its just such a shame how its all gone we're most likely never going to get a continuation of the Engineer's and another sequel now to really connect everything up.
I guess I was not ready to appreciate this film 12 years ago... But I just finished watching again for the 2nd time and my god, this film is BEAUTIFUL.
I like how half of Prometheus captures your imagination and appeals to the child in you with all of its imagination like Halo and the other half has the typical gross-out stuff you would expect from an Aliens movie.
Interesting scene especially given the recent media interest in unexplained vehicles and craft seen in our skies. More intelligent beings have been here and visited for alot longer than we think. Life has always existed beyond what we know .
Prometheus has a lot of faults but scenes like this, with its special effects, stage design, costumes, lighting, editing and Fassbender's performance really are memorable.
Definitely a film I found myself reevaluating after Covenant released earlier this summer. Both films tell a large portion of what the old ALIEN: Engineers draft wanted to before Lindelof's involvement changed it's tangent into Prometheus which is interesting for the way it makes the Engineers more significant, now the work of ALIEN:Awakening will be to tie it all together in a satisfying way for 1979's ALIEN to be setup...

Oswald Sweezlebogger I thought it was just me thinking that. like his smile when he sits down. it's what I loved about character when I first saw the movie! he was my favorite. his ability to think beyond his programming made him special though of course the moral dilemma this leads to kinda sucks. i hated how he was treated in this film. after watching covenant he remains my favorite, joined by his counterpart. perhaps I just have a thing for synthetics, or more likely for Fassbender 🤣, but they remain, along with the engineers the most fascinating things to from the franchise
@@tananiain Prometheus, he was more insensitively curious and his motive is much better hidden (except when it comes to Halloway) Covenant reveals David to be a psychopath with a god complex just because he found some DNA altering goo
Think this scene just goes to show, how superior an artificial entity is to a biological one. Just seeing this, David was able to comprehend how the ship functioned & navigated it. Oh did I forget, he also figure out how the bombing weapons operates. Maybe, that's why the Engineer was so hostile to David, maybe they're hostile to all artificial lifeforms?
They were hostile to him because a human dared to compare himself to a god because he created David. They already had decided that Earth was not worthy because of human cruelty. There was a script you may find it narrated in TH-cam but basically it recalled an event of engineers giving human one last chance by taking a human boy teaching him and sending him back to Earth in hopes that he will pass the knowledge and will end the wars. The boy was crucified. And humans just got worse with time so they had the lanes to destroy Earth. So technically Elisabeth saved Earth. David launching those missiles was a more of a statement humans created him and believed to have right to mistreat him and treat him like a slave, gods or engineers created humans and while what he and Elisabeth encountered what seemed an inferior race not equals to the engineers he still comités genocide because he could and because in a sense it meant freedom. If he is capable to destroy the ones superior to humans he no longer needs to obey them. Not that it really mattered as he was left alone there. I feel like if he just thought for a second how bored he would get to the point to ending up creating new species (because his complex) he would have kept poor Eli alive.
Remarkably, refreshing noble moment in a franchise that prides itself on what amounts to trying to outdo the first 10 minutes of Saving Private Ryan with claws instead of bullets.
As much as I love this scene, I personally believe it would’ve felt a lot stronger if instead of using “Life” from the beginning of the film, it would’ve used “End Title” from Alien. I feel that this movie uses “Life” a little too much, and that this would’ve been the right moment to use the theme from Alien, both for means of a throwback to the past, and giving a musical presentation of the vast and infinite universe that this scene- and the original Alien- revolves around.
Question - there are 5 pods in that circular control room and we can see 3 Engineers in all. One on the chair controlling things while the other two go into hyper sleep. What happened to these 3 Engineers? One was still asleep till David woke him up...what about the other two?

@@myownruin187 No , the same as a scrotum !! Ha , ha .
The best thing about this scene is how wonderful the feeling of ignorance and discovery is. We were amazed at the discovery of another alien's day at work, yet what they were working on was to exterminate humanity.
Saw this in the theater and this scene was absolutely spectacular in 3D! Truly breathtaking.
Quite possibly one of the best scenes in the movie, alongside the alien removal scene, and the Prometheus landing sequence.
yes, I agree.
@@philw9436 And also David's introduction scene. Really telling what he was doing all that time on the ship, whilst everyone else was in hypersleep.
1:10 I love this sound 🎶 It represents our ignorance and the little thing we are in the UNIVERSE.
That flute song is E4G4F4E4G4
175775_B04 HD ok
175775_B04 HD That's an interesting and random piece of information
175775_B04 HD by any chance do you know the title of that music? I thought it is the theme music of Alien series, but I couldn't find any..
【Prometheus Soundtrack】 made by Harry Gregson Williams and Marc Streitenfeld , the name is Engineers Flute Source, it's only 6 seconds, but I can't found it on youtube
"I'll do the fingering."
I just love how happy David looks here. It's adorable.
You have to admit Prometheus has such an amazing soundtrack
My favourite part is a piece called "Debris," and it plays right when the ship is plunging to the ground and dropping fiery pieces of the Prometheus with it.
This movie get's way too much hate, its a 9/10 in my book, beautiful film.
MonkeyZorr Yes
Hey dude stay with your Disney movies then. WOW u know Bambi Cinderella .Snow White and the rest
I was loving it... but then it abruptly ended just when I thought it was going somewhere.
Alien fanboys
Till this day, this movie is still my most favorite movie
Everything seems so tender and the music is magical if it weren't for the fact that what they are doing is aiming at planet Earth to destroy all traces of civilization. It is a chilling and terribly inhumane scene.
Fans of Alien franchise spoiled this trilogy. It had IMMENSE POTENTIAL. But no... "We want more xenomorph killings"
Exactly. They fucking killed a good thing.
They really did. God forbid theres a story to build up to that point.
Boo hoo 😂
lol you want a two female character crushed by rolling donuts ?
Absolutely right
The movie begs its audience to dig into the mythology of the various creation stories. If you do, you'll find some very interesting information.
Starting with the flute played in E phrygian E G F E .... and the proto indogermanic language which was spoken by those humanoid beings etc they coming from da east but a very far away east 😂😂😂
and become existentialist, or should i say ubermensch? enlightened? couldnt agree more, dude. love kind of movie that make people "get out of the cave"
Like what?
Mythology? Fantasy?
Ok bonne nouvelle beaucoup bien fidèle
prometheus is better than covenant
Scooby-Doo is better than both
Absolutely. Ridley Scott directed it…that’s why.
@@jamestcallahanphotographer ridley scott also directed covenant
nope. they are connected and are equally amazing
The idea of an artificial mind created a species of predator is too much even in Alien reality. An AI can be clever and advanced but lack one thing. A soul.
The movie is flawed, but when people say it's "terrible" I can't take it seriously because of scenes like this. What a powerfully shot and directed scene.
Prometheus is a terrible, awful mess of a movie. The fact that its visually stunning doesn't save it, it makes it even more disappointing.
It’s more than just visuals, it’s the way the visuals, music, and acting work together to give off the sense of wonder. That’s what separates art from trash. It’s able to capture the human experience
Such an underrated movie.. my favorite sci Fi movie ever.
MonkeyZorr yo you should learn to respect people's opinions. no one is asking for you to say this is yours favorite but people are entitled to this opinions and decide what they like or don't.

David's face once he realised how vast the observable universe actually is. Priceless
That isn't what he realized.
Incredible film, I think this one will stand the test of time far better then most of the movies being put out at this time.
MonkeyZorr Like asshat?
And covenant will rot as one of the worst
This movie was absolute garbage with an incredible premise and concepts.
@Luke Wilson You okay there bud? Did someone hurt you?
I really love the music in here, so so much inspiration and one of the most greatest instruments!!!
Play you're own flute
I don't understand why people don't like this movie. It's fantastic. Literally everyone I knew who went to go watch this in 2012 were being such haters
DHGlee2013 its mainly the fact that we don't get answers about the engineers and that they thrown in stupid sci fi horror tropes
because of their stupid god man thats way
On its OWN, it's fantastic. As part of the overall Alien franchise, it's a horrible inconsistent mess. People went in expecting a prequel to "Alien" and instead got a piece of visual art.
This scene evokes a sense of wonder.
Ok this scene is so so magnificent that i can´t describe it. I feel like a child during Christmas. The reason I love Ridley Scott and his work.
David Fassbender is such an amazing actor. The credit that he gets from these comments about his facial expressions, makes my heart melt.
and not a single person anywhere in social media not i've mentioned just how epic the music is on this movie and the covenant. Epic
I remember how beautiful this scene was in 3D
👍
Been watching this scene for thousand of time... especially that flute part...!!!!
introducing windows 10 000 coming to a planet near you
Really obsess with this scene, fascinated how advanced a space-travelling life form could be, though this is a sci-fi horror alien film
like from the beginning to the half of the movie was about science and shit, and then it did a huge jump to horror movie
They'ed be way beyond our imagination. We’ve built supercomputers that’ve already left Commander Data hopelessly obsolete by today’s standards

Was it possible for David to feel awe or joy at that moment? It was quite a display!
So magnificent! Even David was in awe.
*This was a cool scene. ✅😎*
Yo cheeks 😎
What’s even cooler is the whole backstory on who/what/when/where, of these “engineers”. I wish they made a whole series (not just a series of movies) on this. There’s a channels that got into the whole thing!

Fantastic scene, what a great movie
It's funny I always thought that subtle note played at 1:48 was such a beautiful and mysterious addition to the soundtrack. I only just realised it was a sound effect in unison with the circle lights.
Earlier in the movie they show our star maps, ships and tech, then in this scene they show how advanced the Engineers star maps, ship and tech were 2000 years ago. Look at Davids expression at .40, was that part of the script? Makes me grin every time.
And to think this was ancient tech for the Engineers.
Ah, so that's why David poured a drop of alien goo into Holloway's drink.
Same behavior like Ash, only more sneaky... Artificial Humans... You can't trust them...
odiemodie1
Bishop however...
Ah, yes...
DAVID HOLDS ALL OF OUR MEMORIES
I never get tired of watching this
Awesome scene. We got our hands in the cookie jar and knowledge we didn't earn...we learn that we're not top dog and yet see a glimpse of what's beyond us...
A truly great moment in cinema despite a very flawed film.
One of my favourite scenes which I think about often.
0:10 "Hey Fred, these hard-boiled eggs that Joe brought for the film crew lunch today taste kind of nasty!"
"Yeah! Maybe we can use the rest of them on the set for something?"
Production Design is fantastic, Fassbender’s acting is, as always, superb, the rest is a mishmash of half decent snips of ideas. A pity, it could have been a really thought provoking franchise.
All those years while crew was in cyro David was becoming more Human than ever then decided "im beyond them im god" same as how engineers created human who think theyre god
i love this scene.
This is probably my favourite scene in the entire movie
David's reaction is the same I would give if I were in a situation like this! Extraordinary.
Crying in this emotive scene👽😍😢
This scene was amazingly done..a great movie...much better than it's sequel.
I keep telling people that it was called _Prometheus_ not _Alien: Prometheus_ for a reason. If you can overlook some ordinary side characters and dialogue in the script, it was a great standalone film.
Sanyikun vs Gyöngyi Balogh
Sanyikun vs Kardashian Sanyikun vs Terence hillll
They should just make a 2 hour movie of someone in a futuristic Orrery....It would do well.
Shaw: "David we shouldn't touch anything!"
* David touches everything *
I strongly agree
This movie kombined with Covenant is a masterpiece. Love it❤
I like how half of Prometheus captures your imagination and appeals to the child in you with all of its imagination like Halo and the other half has the typical gross-out stuff you would expect from an Aliens movie.
A room so fascinating even an android, David, was in awe
When you think you solve a math example, but suddenly realise you did it all wrong.
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will...
Interesting scene especially given the recent media interest in unexplained vehicles and craft seen in our skies. More intelligent beings have been here and visited for alot longer than we think. Life has always existed beyond what we know .
If we really knew the truth, we couldn't handle it because we aren't ready for something that large.
The part where he puts his head up to the cryopod.. it's incredible in 3D.
Got it in 3D and i REFUSE to see it any other way 👍💯💯💯
I think that Fassbender was channeling Marty Feldman and Igor at that moment.
The production design, cinematography and visual effects of this movie were top notch 🙌
The biggest mistake Scott made was to remove the dialogue between the engineers in the hologram during this scene
Prometheus has a lot of faults but scenes like this, with its special effects, stage design, costumes, lighting, editing and Fassbender's performance really are memorable.

The engineers make light travel to distant galaxies look just as easy as me driving down the street in my car. Unreal.
Cuboid
Definitely a film I found myself reevaluating after Covenant released earlier this summer. Both films tell a large portion of what the old ALIEN: Engineers draft wanted to before Lindelof's involvement changed it's tangent into Prometheus which is interesting for the way it makes the Engineers more significant, now the work of ALIEN:Awakening will be to tie it all together in a satisfying way for 1979's ALIEN to be setup...
Wow
I think there is a paradox in this scene with David holding earth and expressing Joy.
⚫️I deeply wish that Prometheus was it’s own movie & had ZERO relation to the Alien franchise❗️
🖤If Prometheus was it’s own Universe - I believe that it would have been hailed as one of the best sci-fi movies of all time, and it would have created sequels, prequels, side stories, books, games, entire series, etc.🖤
🖤The idea behind it is absolutely GENIUS, and it should have gotten much more RESPECT then it received❗️
▪️My theory behind why Prometheus got such low reception is as follows:
The movie was trashed all because of Alien fans, and the reason is:
➖ DUN DUH DU H DAHHH ➖
▪️The fans of the Alien universe are NOT true Sci-Fi fans❗️
▪️The fans of Aliens are in reality BODY HORROR fans❗️
▪️Fans that love a BODY HORROR that just so happens to be set in a future space❗️
🖤So I contend that all the people who loved Prometheus, and wanted more of the Universe ➖ Those of us who wanted MORE ➖ We are the TRUE Science Fiction fans❗️🖤
‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️💯💯💯💯🖤🖤🖤👌👌❗️
Absolutely 👍

David was really cute in this scene
Oswald Sweezlebogger I thought it was just me thinking that. like his smile when he sits down. it's what I loved about character when I first saw the movie! he was my favorite. his ability to think beyond his programming made him special though of course the moral dilemma this leads to kinda sucks. i hated how he was treated in this film. after watching covenant he remains my favorite, joined by his counterpart. perhaps I just have a thing for synthetics, or more likely for Fassbender 🤣, but they remain, along with the engineers the most fascinating things to from the franchise
Oswald Sweezlebogger right he really does look cute

Covenant reveals David to be a psychopath with a god complex just because he found some DNA altering goo
Really believe that AIs will lack a certain speciality, a precognition aspect that some human's believe they have.
David smiles when he sits down. A robot slave sits on a throne and becomes a king
Remarkably, refreshing noble moment in a franchise that prides itself on what amounts to trying to outdo the first 10 minutes of Saving Private Ryan with claws instead of bullets.
apart from with a graceful style lacking in the first 10 minutes of Saving Private Ryan.
I could use clarification. I'm not sure if you're agreeing, disagreeing, or reviewing a movie.

A moment of pure art. My favorite in the whole movie.
Question - there are 5 pods in that circular control room and we can see 3 Engineers in all. One on the chair controlling things while the other two go into hyper sleep. What happened to these 3 Engineers? One was still asleep till David woke him up...what about the other two?
The joy on David's face is beautiful ❤
