  • how did albatross become the best fliers? this is how albatross evolved to become masters of land and sea, and legendary in human culture too. albatross travel huge distances around the world without seeming to ever tire - this is how they do it!

    Albatross are some of the most amazing birds to ever evolve in my opinion, and I think you’ve made a great case for why they’re so legendary. I am always blown away by their ability to survive in such a crazy habitat, not many other species can. Great stuff Sum!

    Truly a legendary bird! I learned new things about albatross from you. And the presentation of being "on the boat" was fun. Dynamic soaring is even more interesting than gliding - they harvest energy from wind speed differences by alternating between layers of air. I haven't found a good way to explain it yet but it's on my radar for future topics.

    • @outdoorswithsum
      @outdoorswithsum  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      WOO my job is done! It is very tricky to explain, maybe that’s why humans still haven’t found a way to do it yet either!

  • @albytross8681

    Technically, they’re one of the worst fliers. It depends on how you define flying. Albatrosses cannot do powered flight! They cannot fly without wind, at all. They basically are just really advanced gliders
