All jokes aside, this is why I love Anthony’s reviews. He tells it how it is, and judges it by it’s price range without sugar coating anything. There’s people out there who say Anthony just shits on everything to shit on them, and well, they’re wrong. Anthony, unlike most other reviewers, actually know how to make an action figure, so he knows what he talking about, AND he gives credit where it’s due, if the figure is fantastic, he tells it so. Sure, his standards are higher than others, but I will always trust his opinion rather than others when coming to whether or not to buy a figure. I was debating buy this Cyclops, or the love triangle 3-pack, and after watching 2 prior reviews, Anthony just confirmed that I probably shouldn’t buy it considering the price is so high, so thank you Anthony

Yea i feel exactly the same. Some reviewers feels like the only difference between them and a regular viewer is the money they can throw into their collections. Anthony has real experience on all aspects of action figure making.

P.S. I forgot that Anthony knows how to make figs (that's what make his reviews so good). I am totally looking forward to that Rival Clan fig line that he has coming out. When they open up the option to support that line, I want to be one of the first!

So many other channels just completely shill out for their videos instead of giving any sort criticism toward the actual product. This really makes me worried for the Hush Batman and Superman. Those are my most desired figures and I'm scared for the problems they could have
Oh brother I am in the same boat - having the very same concerns. I do not currently own any MAFEX pieces but these Marvel items recently are making me seriously worry about my pre-orders with the DC HUSH line.
ikr, I have the two dark knight return batman figures on preorder and I recently preordered the black hush batman and im starting to worry like real bad. Honestly, that black hush batman, if has no qc issues, has the potential to be the best batman figure ever. unfortunately, mafex seem to struggle with delivering a quality figure for a while now. fingers crossed for the batman...

The knees on those do not look great when fully bent. But hopefully they fix that before full production takes place

It looks fine. Maybe the best looking cyclops. Head sculpt does look better on the Legends however. I think your over critical because of the price. Way too much!
Makes sense. The more it costs, the more it should be forgiven for problems so we don't feel bad about wasting money.

That's one of the reasons why I preordered the black/grey Hush Batman over the blue/grey. Since its release is way after the first version, I can cancel it if Bats turns out to be a turd.
I don’t understand the hate on the figure. It looks like it jumped out of a Jim lee X-men comic. His arms are lengthy and he’s pretty bulky in the comics.
It's not the bulk. It's the scrunched torso.

For the stubby torso their reference art is almost certainly the Capcom art where he also has a stubby torso. We can infer that was their reference for the figure because two of Mediocom's promo images show the figure in poses that directly replicate win poses from Capcom's Marvel fighting games (the one where he's pointing to the side with two fingers and the one where he's looking up and firing an optic blast).
Somebody that gets it! Same with Wolverine. It was definitely Capcom inspired mixed with Jim Lee and the animated series. To me, that's the perfect representation of what I want. To each their own though.

Anthony is still the best and most objective reviewer on YT. The man has saved me hundreds of dollars over the years. If he says it’s crap, it’s crap. But if he says it’s good?! Bet your biscuit it’s a fantastic figure. Keep up the great work man!
Aw man, I can’t believe this! How could this happen? It’s like Mafex just gave no craps at all!
Respectfully, I think your anatomical knowledge is off. His traps clearly extend beyond the straps. That floating piece inbetween the shoulder and the pecks is meant to be a continuation of the traps and pecks- while still allowing for great shoulder movement. You can clearly see the collar bone sculpt continue from the peck onto the floating piece. And the trap is above the collar bone on the same piece. Plain as day
I didn't relate the traps to the floating pieces at all though... I never related the floating pieces to the chest sculpt either. You're telling me I'm wrong and citing things I didn't say to support your point. The traps and chest are wrong because they're not sculpted properly. It has nothing to do with the floating piece.
Anatomy is his thing. Most of his criticism revolves around it and irks him to no end. In some of his videos you can actually hear the anatomy exasperation escalate along the way. It's mildly entertaining actually when you anticipated it and it happens.

I mean wow I can’t believe that price point same price as Mezco and the Mezco version comes with a freaking light up feature for crying out loud! yeah I don’t know what it is they’re smoking but they really need to step up their game or lower their price points
I'd say the difference blues were intentional to show different fabric. Like the head piece around the face clearly wouldn't be metal, it would be a cloth of some sort. The knees and elbows were probably meant to have pads on them. Also, idk if I'm just weird, but my hands reach to around the end of my thighs so I don't see any problems with that.

Thanks for the honest review. I'm not a fan of the X-Men franchise so I wouldn't have bought this anyway, but it is helpful to see someone being critical for the right reasons. There will be other reviewers justifying their purchase or free sample for review for clicks. In the end, if you like it, then that's cool, you do you. If you expect better for the price of the figure, then you are justified.
I want to reiterate what you said about how you get nothing for this critical review. You spent your money and got a pile of crap. You could have bought another figure that you would have been happy with and given a great review. Yet, here we are. Money lost for the sake of providing the viewer with an honest assessment of what they are potentially buying. This is what a reviewer should do.

Your reviews are a daily thing for me now. I had to pause this one because I was laughing too hard at the “bottom of the junk at the thumb knuckle” comment! Keep the great reviews coming! I do hope you’ll be reviewing the Thanos and Hulk SHF figures coming out soon. I want to like both from the images, but I found myself critiquing the images in your review style lol.

This figure is no better than the Legends version. Both have pros and cons but Hasbro’s is a much better value. Keep telling the truth my man. You’re doing your job.

..to those who got this figure..try to rotate/switch the dumbell joint on the neck to head if it resolves the issue..seeing the neck part hole is tight and the head hole is loose,maybe those balls on the dumbell joints aren't exactly the same diameter and have been switched on their holes..
Let me preface this comment by saying I have never owned a Mafex figure ... hell, I've never even held one in my hand. But with all the review videos I've seen for their assorted product ( particularly their Marvel licensed product) I've never seen anything to make me believe that these figures are worth anything CLOSE to their MSRP ... even with the figures that the community gushes over, for instance, the comic Spider-Man (which I will concede for the sake of argument is objectively better than the Hasbro ML counterpart) there is no convincing me that Mafex's offering is worth four to five times the price point. As someone who has collected toys for longer than I'd care to admit, the following that this company enjoys remains for me, one of the most bewildering facets of this hobby. All that said - another great video, Ant! Keep holding their feet to the fire and calling em like you see em!
You're pretty much right. I only own 3 that I'm satisfied with and even then, they're still way too much imo.

Was it the Mafex Batfleck that also had a torso that was too short? I think in that case it was because the ball peg they used was too short and it could be fixed by replacing it with a taller ball peg, but that's impossible here because the shoulder harness appears to be sized for the torso as it is now so if you stretch the torso you won't get the harness back on. Shame.

I'm rooting on Diamond Select to come up with the best Cyclops figure based on their recent Cyclops bust mini statue.
I've been hoping they do a Jim Lee Cyclops for the longest! Most of my X-Men figures are Selects but I need a dope ass Cyclops, Jean, and Storm to really set it off.

I think it's good that he is giving his overall opinion and what he feels about the figure and this would have been one I also have got but now not really anymore.
Had this on preorder for a long time and canceled it a while back...now I'm not regretting that...shame it looked cool on the pictures. Ah well I go both versions of the legends and a spare I plan to alter for correct colors...all under 90 bucks for all three...and the jean and wolverine in the three pack.
Is it possible to swap the harness? The harness might be the only part of this that's superior to the marvel legends version because of how far down the marvel legends one drops down. Although this one might be too short anyways.

I might get the bootleg one, i think this is decent but not $100 decent, the stand alone marvel legends cyclops cost up to $100 in my country
Always wait for Anthony before I look into these new mafex figures. I still have faith in them, the comic Spider-Man was really good, one of my favorite Spider-Man figures, and the homecoming Spider-Man was surprisingly good. Joker 2.0 is also a good figure. Glad I passed on this and wolverine.
We need a mafex thanos from endgame and infinity war I just hope mafex listens
It's definitely a "me" thing, but I like this body more than the Hasbro version. This one doesn't have that sort of stock/generic look like most Hasbro bodies, so I would choose this over that one if I collected X-Men. It's not anatomically correct, but it doesn't look boring. Obviously, it should just have the correct anatomy though.
He would blend in pretty well with ToyBiz figures, given the bubbly body and weirdly-lengthed limbs.

I just got this figure and only because I was able to pick it up at a great deal ($49 shipped) I feel it's not even worth that. The face is off, the paint is sloppy, proportions are way off - more so in person, the head easily pops off. What's with those weird thin bent flaccid looking neck ball peg stems? And what's with the terrible leg articulation for mafex figures? same issue with my hush superman. easily pops off and stiff with super stiff movement. and the giant meat flap things for lat muscles. Those look awful and weird.
I’ve seriously only bought a few figures that you have reviewed as bad but that was because of decent price. But most of the time thanks to you, my wife won’t kill me for spending way too much on a crappy figure. I own the Legends Cyclops in the in the jacket and, while I’d love that color scheme without the jacket, I’m perfectly fine with that. And it came with 2 other figures for less than this Mafex one. This Cyclops looks nothing like the promo pics. Promo pics had better proportions and didn't have that wide upper torso, it's just so weird...
I think the proportions would be a lot better, had they made the belt / shoulder straps the appropriate length. He loses a 1/4" (maybe even a bit more) on his torso, because that belt sits above his waist line. That's actually my single biggest issue with the figure. I'm surprised you didn't go harder on them for that... It also makes his mid-section area way too tall which really throws off his proportions. Imagine what the proportions would look like on the Marvel Legends figure if they did the same thing.
Moving the belt doesn't change the proportions. Try changing the position of your belt and see what happens to your arms and chest,
@@AnthonysCustoms I'm not saying it fixes the problem. But, I am saying it would improve the visual appearance of the figure and it's proportions. His lower abdomen area is completely blocked, compared to the Hasbro ML where it is fully visible. It's the same as an old man hiking up his trousers to his belly button... That's going to give him the appearance of an extremely short torso. It doesn't change the length of his arms, but it helps showcase the actual size of his torso, rather than make it even worse.

Man, after I had the Mafex Spiderman in hand, I was so excited for their marvel and DC lines. Venom was good, I thought Wolverine as passable, but this cyclops definitely looks like a huge disappointment. Proportions aside, you shouldn't get a $100 figure with floppy joints and sloppy paint job. Especially since it was delayed like 4 or 5 times!!!!!. I only hope they can get their act together for the Dark Knight Returns figures and their hush batman/superman. And thanks for the review Anthony. Don't listen to the haters. You're doing a service for all of us collectors out there.

I'm glad you kept it real with these mayfex figures. Most of these reviewers are going to tell people that this is THE best figure at the 6 inch size. I love SHF, but I also know they have problems with some of their figures and those same reviewers will claim that they are the worst figures out there. Iron spirderman for example, SHF came out with one at the time of the movie release, they didn't like it. Mayfex came out with one almost a year later and nearly every reviewers iron spider legs broke and they still loved it! I love it when people keep reviews real.

I’m not a fan of X-men, but that has to be accurate from somewhere. No way they’d just make that mistake. Source material can just make for bad 3d representations
@@MuShinnen it is in part due to the belt though, with Wolverine you can move the belt much more because it's not attached to a chest strap. Cyclops' is stuck in a very high position that helps his proportions look odd.

I cancelled my preorder of this guy. The proportions look really bad. Thought it was my eyes at first because I was just waking up. But after watching the entire review man am I disappointed in mafex. A brand name (marvel) should not be an excuse to charge up the wazoo for limited accessories, poor paint job and loose or maybe more QC issues. I hope Thor and Batman come out better than the marvel figures are. Thanks for the save Anthony!
if the head sculpt is bad, it ruins everything for me. I'm excited with the mafex spiderman far from home, head sculpt looks movie accurate.
I love the prototypes for Batman & Superman (sans the fact that the latter is missing a smiling face option) in the style of Jim Lee, but both Wolverine & Cyclops warn me that they could be ass. Anthony, what do you think of what's been shown of those two?
If the figures match the protos they could be ok. Unfortunately, Cyclops got changed a lot
I think if the belt was lowered a bit more, his upper torso wouldn't look so squat. Also, if you hinge his shoulders up a bit instead of letting them extend down, that would fix the long arm look. Just my 2 centavos. I also think they based this figure off the 90s arcade game look and not the animated series.

I'm glad I canceled the preorder for this figure. When I got Wolverine it had all the same issues yours had but the arms falling off was not as bad; they were tighter but could still be popped off. Given how bad Wolverine and John wick were for me I guess i will only be buying Mafex figures when they are in the clearance bin if they are cheap enough and a better figure is not available.
What the hell is with import figures from japan lately? Quality control has gone to pot. Figures that a few years ago with only a few accessories and cost $30 or $40 are now $60 or $80. In these times we are in today I know this is the least of our concerns. It does make me wonder if Prime Minister Abe encouraging manufactures to pull their factories from china will result in a better product of worse. Though that does not fit the issues with engineering and if they are using CAD they can 3d print rough prototypes and do rough scaling on the parts to get the right fit and finally do the sculpt.
I was deciding between the ML Cyclops at $60-80 second hand or this new. I'll pass on both. Thanks! Here's hoping Hasbro gets us a new Cyclops this year (not animated!)

Like I've said before, I really enjoy your reviews/opinions when it comes to toys and you did not disappoint with this figure review. I especially enjoy the way that you can specify the reason that something is 'ill-formed' or out of proportion, it helps that you're not just saying 'I don't like it cuz its dumb', or 'it just looks funny'. Its for these reasons that I enjoy your reviews. I agree with you more often than not, and even if I don't I can clearly understand your point. I think more reviewers should be this honest when it comes to the critical aspect of reviews, because when you think about the amount of money that we are shelling out for these pieces of plastic, they should be crafted with a certain standard in place am I right?
So once again, great work on helping me to avoid buying something that should be priced less than its current market suggested retail price.
