    Full replay as Germany win Bronze in the Men's Fencing Team Foil during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
    Fencing was included for the first time at the 1896 Games in Athens, and has remained on the Olympic programme since then. The women's fencing competition entered the Games in 1924 in Paris. Today, men and women compete in individual and team events, in which three types of weapon are used: foil, epee and sabre. The foil was, at first, the only weapon used by women, until the 1996 Games in Atlanta, when women's epee was introduced. Women's sabre appeared for the first time on the Olympic programme in Athens in 2004.

    I just CAN'T stress enough on how much it upsets me, that fencing is SERIOUSLY underrated! :(

      Nobody remembers how deadly a sabre or rapier are anymore in the world of fencing, aside from the flimsy foil the art of fencing I would consider to be the most deadly form of swordsmanship than any other.
      I guess slashing and cutting are more popular ways to kill somebody than simply stabbing, even though stabbing is more deadly accurate.

    • @isaiahphillip4112
      @isaiahphillip4112 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It's underrated because to most people it looks like two people prancing around with a floppy sword swinging in a random and uncoordinated fashion. That's all I see, I understand the stradegy but it's just so boring. And most people who search up fencing are expecting some sort of Pirates of the Caribbean battle royal and are like,"Wtf is this?".

      Alexander Irvine You're right, but I've watched fencing with my year in school in Wagga Wagga Australia, and they all laughed like they were watching some idiot belly flop into a pool from a large height when someone got a point, ripped his helm off and roared with pleasure.
      Made me feel rather uncomfortable as a fencer.

      Alexander Irvine Seriously, naming is another problem, when I say fencing people think I build fences.

      Did you know that there are some well known celebrities that do fencing for a hobby? Yeah! ;) They are, Tom Cruse, Will Smith and David Beckham! :D Yet unfortunately they lack the common sence to help wor promote wor sport and even if they did it STILL may not inspire others! :( I mean, come, ON....! Whether you choose foil epee or sabre ya STILL fighting with a sword and ya don't get hurt AS much, in theory and how can you NOT say that that's all totally badass? Huh?!

    Bryn10, He was Fechtenmeister Pavel Luveitch, from Prague,CR/Dresden,BRD respectively.I met Pavel in late '72 after the Munich incident.He was a 'Renaissance' man in the truest sense of the word and instructed his charges with discipline & patience. In the photo, I stand to his right,(platinum blond with a rather serious glare). I am surprised that you remember me - or was it my Opa? He was a man of 'notoriety' shall we say? It was a great tournament. Best regards to a worthy opponent, drake b.

    Actually irascible1e the bottom part of the mask where the flap is that protects your neck is target but not the whole part of the helmet just the bottom half of the flap. Most of the electric mask indicates it with gray on it like the vest.

    @Mihai Toader it is actually an attack on preparation as the German attacked the American had a preparation and parried during the Germans attack when the American hit the referee had already called halt therefore what would have been a counter reposed if the German missed and the American hit

    i have a question, if there is anybody who knows a bit about foil fencing: in one Scene, a German hits the American while the American´s Parade. After that, the American hits. The judge decides a Parade-Riposte, but isn´t it a mal Pare (throgh the Parade)? i´m really not sure, and i don´t want to decide wrongin similar situations...

    • @mihaitoader7785
      @mihaitoader7785 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's parade riposte because he paraded the foil and hit. Only if he hit later so that the machine wouldn't register it than it would be Germany's obviously.

    • @hushpuppysam5044
      @hushpuppysam5044 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The point would've been awarded to the German only if the American Parried AFTER the hit landed.

    The commentators are so useless. Yes it might help people who've never seen fencing before, but describing what happens without actually describing what the fencers were actually doing.

    • @noahgollnick719
      @noahgollnick719 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you must see, in most of all channels there are no fencing experts. I think it is a normal Sports Reporter who was in London for the Olympics, an he is commentating because there has to be someone commentating. I don´t think there are enough People at Television knowing what is a Cavation, Badutta or Prime ;)

    The only issue about putting the flag on the mask is that it just isn't elegant. It doesn't fit the usual grace and style of fencing.

    • @icebear3281
      @icebear3281 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      0001Anais It’s fencing. Elegance doesn’t matter the skill does. Fencing was not made to be like ballet and be changed because of people who care about how good the fencers look instead of paying attention to the skill.
