Really enjoy your vids. You have a positive attitude. I have always been interested in the New Mexico Class (a family friend served on the Idaho in WW2) I just wanted to mention two things. 1- about NM gun accuracy The 14/50 was more accurate than the 14/45 BUT - the Az and Pn were regunned before the war with improved 14/45s with better chambers and nickel lined bores. the NMs didn't get this upgrade until an upgrade in 1942(the WoW NM is late 30s) 2 - the NM is too slow! You mentioned the replace of the turbo-electric engines in the early 30 rebuild with good old geared turbines. WoW said this gets 37,000hp for 21 knots - NOT TRUE! The engines could put out 44,000 hp and reach 23 knots! (per (Breyer) and 22.8 knots per Freidman. It's not a huge difference but every bit helps. Tell the WoW folks to fix this. Thanx
Ive been waiting for this one, Ive spent a lot of time in the New Mexico, I still play the ship often too cause it's one of my favorites (of the boats I have).
This has become my favorite ship to play. Yes, there are more powerful and even better looking battleships, Iowa for example, but few ships, even fewer bbs, have such a great balance of firepower, range, agility, armor, AA and maneuverability. I've taken on tier 6 bbs and often survive. Even beat some 1v1. Her one significant drawback is a lack of speed but I feel she makes up for it with her exceptional range at her tier. With a decent team spotting, she can catch you by surprise and she has a heavy enough broadside to deal heavy damage at close range if she's forced to brawl.
Just got my first T5 BB Kraken in the New Mexico yesterday with spicey High Cal, Dreadnaught and Devistating Strike...All thanks to your guidance with the content on this channel 😁👍 Greatly appreciate your work man!(especially these series of "Meet the...") Keep it up! 😎💪
Spartan, I hope you will continue with this and other “how to” video series, they may not get the immediate results of viewers you had hoped for, but I would believe they have a longer shelf life if organized so new player can find them. So I changed up my setup to a similar version of this (mainly the rudder shift). While I hate being so slow, it has been a game changer. Had my first oneshot last night against am Iszmail. 54k damage in one salvo. Before I changed the setup, I loathed this ship. Now... it's dangerous

Pulling up the coms wheel on preset 5 (which is the most logical button layout IMO) square (or X on xbox) locks guns too. An extra step, for sure, but a nice layout and guarantee no mistaken button presses.
This may be a dumb question but how do you fire your guns almost simultaneously? Whenever I shoot they happen in sequence with a half a second delay. I always hold down the trigger when shooting.

the amount of free xp i have on her is insane. nearly 300k and over 300 battles in her. love that dam ship class and uss califorina has over 400k free xp and just hit 150 battles with her
Hey Spartan, love your show. Why do you never ever use HE when you are clearly going against destroyers? Its like installing a steering wheel to my pants... IT DRIVES ME NUTS! I always seem to do more damage and break more stuff, including setting fires that make them more visible when firing HE at them.
2 reasons First is I very rarely have HE loaded in BBs and second is even over pens on DDs with AP from BBs can at worst 2 shot them. If I'm going to be fighting DDs and I know I have time I will usually load HE but most of the time it is whatever is loaded at the time
I like using Preset 5, you can lock the guns, but its a "look around and lock guns", makes. it easy to spot tops around you. What do you think Is a better BB, Amagi or. Bismark? Or what about the Russian tier. 7?

Alaska can reliably citadel Yamato through the front barbette. The US 18" gun will have no problem in the same circumstances. Also, the 18" gun the US was developing leading up to WW2 threw a roughly 4000lbs AP shell. Lastly, these are 457mm guns: they can't overmatch 32mm bow plating.
To calculate Gun to overmatch armor you take Armor thickness and Multiply it by 14.3 say 27mm of armor x 14.3 = 386.1 mm guns to overmatch it To figure how much Armor your Guns Overmatch take the gun size in mm say 406mm and divide it by 14.3 = 28.391 mm of armor
I remember when I started playing, I didn't have Willam Sims and I hated American Battleships. Now that I have a level 16 Sims, I actually feel like a threat and sink ships! I can relate to the new player struggle.
to talk more about the new bb line, the nevada is essentially an arizon with 2 less barrels at T4, so rip new york. Tennesee is the lead ship of the class california is a part of, the only difference in game being it has more of an arizona superstructure because it is at its pre-pearl harbour configuration, so the superstucture is less modern then new mexico but cali guns, so no power creep on NM. Finally North Carolina is armed with alabama guns but is only armoured against 14in and below, so Queen E and Colorado and Iowa and such can overmach the bow, but still massive powercreep on colorado, which needs a buff, so overall I think it will be a very powerful line, and who knows what t7 will be, maybe one of the thicc BBs from pc? sorry for the long comment
unfortunatley tennesee won't have such good torp reduction as cali because those torp belts were added after pearl as well, so she won't be the thiccness queen
I like the New Mexico good ship. I just got the Pyotr and I really am enjoying that ship, it has no problem citadeling other battleships. What I want to know is when are they going to nerf the seriously overpowered torpedoes in this game ! ?
I loathed grinding this ship. Was way happier in the Colorado. And when they released the West Virginia i was even happier in that. But i wasn’t thrilled with the American line. German and French have been my favorites
So sail a BB like you fly a fighter: I've heard that a rule of thumb for fighter pilots in WWII was don't fly for more than five seconds in a straight line.
spartan please please do the British battleship class I cannot for the life of me get a good game in them especially the lower-tier ones as their guns turn so slow and the ships in general are really slow. (FYI the reason I am trying to get British battleships is that I am trying to get the Yamato)
NY and NM have been my worst ship experiences. I've never been able to accomplish much in those ships. In the NM last night I got abused by a Pensacola and his little destroyer friend when the rest of the team turned tail and left my slow fat tugboat alone at their mercy.
Nope I have all the ships unlocked I am just revisiting ships I don't play often because folks want to know how to play them and now I am much more confident in my own gameplay to showcase how certain ships should be played.

Unless the ships are close, I find spacing out the shots instead of all at once seems to do more damage. Could be just an illusion.

It helps but rng is finicky at times even with max commanders
