The Sanderos does look like a Runabout crossed with a Norway Class. And even though it can fight, the Sanderos was obviously not designed for front-line combat, because in both battles it sustained extensive hull damage. My guess is the weapons are only meant to disable, long enough for the Sanderos to go to warp and get the heck out of there.
Which is what a medical ship should be doing. I don't get why some people think that because it's transporting the sick and wounded it has to be armed like a Super-Defiant 2.0. When your combat ambulance has more tactical potential than your frontline combat vessels that's a sign of some very skewed resource allocations; if you're going to go to the lengths to make that ship that powerful, why not just remove the medbays and put it on the front lines?? You know what ship would be an excellent realistic medical ship? The Dauntless. Make it bigger for more accommodations, slather it in ablative armor, and you got the perfect high speed ambulance. Quantum slipstream in, grab the wounded, and get the heck out of dodge.
😨Hey Admiral. Love this little ship lol. and Yes, Crusher must have trained the interns.. lol. Like the style and style with right tactics gosh.. and I do like those Klingon ships, reminds me of Voyage Home. gosh.. this was a battle, and the USS Sanderos did good.. I noticed you did not cloak second time around lol. hmm they glued the button ahg.. lol.. Love the battle as always Admiral.. They should have named it after Rios from Picard.. since he left the future to help others in the past,!!!😊🖖*Steve Perusky did a great job with the ship.. glad to see him back!
With the shape it'd be really neat to see one nested MVAM-style onto the little aft protrusion on the Hippocrates, though it's hard to tell if the scale lines up at all. And this thing would be a cool little ambulance to the Hippocrates' hospital.
Hey really love your videos. I don't know if only partreon members can do viewer requests but I had an idea. It would be very interesting to see a dominion battleship vs an imperial or victory class star destroyer (depends on the balancing, star wars ships tend to be way overpowered) battle. They are both those slow and huge heavy ships and even compare visually with the wedge shape. Anyway, I wish you the best of days!
On the second fight... Target engines only, understood? 😄 I wanted prisoners! I couldn't believe it when I found out that was Christopher Lloyd. I was only 8 when that movie came out... that was before Back to the Future.😀
I absolutely love this little ship! It surprised me how powerful it was but it kind of makes sense because not everyone is forgiving when it comes to medical ships. Is there any way I can get some of the specs/dimensions for it? I print 3D models for a lot of the modelers in the Star Trek groups on Facebook. I would love to be able to find someone you model this for me so I could print it. I don't do anything on the file side of things other than slicing and printing. Throwback Beaver, I mean Retro Badger (😅), thank you for all you do! I love these battles!
It’s definitely an interesting take on a medical ship. I can see it more as a fleet escort ship rather than an independently operating vessel - the kind that can fight, but you keep it in the back of the formation to pick off smaller targets that get through the main battle line. More combat-medic than a hospital surgeon. That being said, I think the “pew pew” gun is out of place on a ship with this mission profile. I know that it’s a fresh idea to use it on a ship of this type, but it just doesn’t sit right. A ship like this wouldn’t want to stand up and make strafing runs - it’d trying to protect its charges with a fighting retreat while calling for support. If it had been my design, I’d have gone more traditional and scrapped the specialized weapons and just given it an upgrade on its regular phaser arrays and torpedoes. The micro-quantums are a nice touch, but might be OP for that class. I think that dual-fire photons with a 4-5 shot volley/launcher (8-10 per volley) like the Odyssey has would be great, even with just photons. If you had to have quantums, I’d say that a smaller magazine would be a good balance - maybe 16-20 max, with an equal number of photons. Or just go all photon with a volley that powerful. Remember, this looks to be about the same weight-class as an Intrepid, sand it only had 38 (original) standard torpedoes. A medical ship would likely have even less magazine space. Basically: intercept “leakers” in a fleet formation fight with a heavy volley of torpedoes, and phasers that can rake anything as it flies past. Or if it’s operating solo, a large volley or two will break the shields and disable the engines, then the ship can maneuver out of the enemy’s main firing arcs and/or escape.
The Klingons might think that every medical ship of the Federation is equipped with Emergency Command Holograms and thus also photonic cannons. Of course they want to capture these, but tell that to an overly motivated warrior at the disruptor controls who thinks that sneaking up upon and capturing a vessel is way too Romulan.
It's clearly not a medical ship but in fact a horticultural tool. When the federation is in desperate need of a highly advanced garden trowel, she ploughs straight into action.
Klingons have a particular dislike of medical ships because they believe warriors should die in battle and go to Sto'Vo'Kor. You know; blah blah blah honor this, blah blah blah honor that, etc. 😛
I think the Kvort was conceived as a larger Klingon cruiser, though the BoP model was used for economic reasons (it would cost too much to make a new model, and the BoP was already versatile for shooting sessions)
@@thegeneral123 yarp. Makes zero real world sense, but for a TV show, it (generally*) works *unless you throw a distinct Klingon Battlecruiser into a series set 100 years earlier than the cruiser 🤣
@@MSR-1701 Agreed and the Klingon ships in ST Enterprise looked far too advanced. One of the things that's always annoyed me about ST is how the Klingon ships generally seem to be more bark than bite. Look at ST Enterprise in particular, a slow ship with no shields and very limited weaponry seemingly owns ships hundreds of years more advanced. With a crew focused on combat. What a joke.
Its a cool looking ship. It performed surprisingly well. It definitely would have an escort when deployed to a hotspot. Maybe for its next outing. The flight pattern of those torpedoes are wonky. The Blue Pew-Pews needs to be calibrated.
That was totally AMAZING the USS Sanderos looks really amazing I'd love 2 C a runabout equipped with the photon torpedo pod vs a Klingon Brel Bird of Prey
Bussard collectors literally work by scooping up hydrogen in the ship's path. How can it do that if the saucer section of the ship is directly in front of the Bussard collectors?
Given that the Brel could move the wings up and down, I wouldn't be surprised if the K'Vort could do the same. As for the high position wing, it reminds me of the Crane technique from The Karate Kid
Hey retrobadger, my dad’s birthday is coming up and he always loved playing the kobyashi Mar mod, but since you shut down your website with kobyashi maru no matter how many guides I follow or review them I can’t get it working properly today I somewhat got it working to the point where I launch it it says kobyashi maru on it and some different colours but no new ships or the sovereign remaster I had on my old computer. Could you please help? Thank you.
I could see the damage on the Sanderos, in the second battle, right in the middle of the saucer. Surely the bridge was destroyed, yet they were still firing 🤔🖖
Seems ill suited to medical duties, it's pretty small....a medical ship i'd expect to have greater internal volume and not be able to destroy a K'Vort class.

Your voice is so relaxing. Also thats a pretty awesome little ship. I'd captain her.
USS Sanderos... made in a little-known shipyard somewhere near Bucharest.
Flagship of Admiral James May.
It is from a idea for a runabout,that wasn’t used for DS9
Gonna add the Sanderos to the list of small Fed ships I’d love to have as my personal ship. With a few modifications of course
So that Ambassador Class in the background is just gonna spectate huh?
In the end the captain makes or breaks the ship... but.. to be continued! Lol
Ty for the video and llap!

The Sanderos would look a lot better without the door handle on top of it.
