I’m a new photographer and videographer. The g9 is my newest camera. I had a g7 and gx85(which I still have)
The g9 is way more feature packed. This video is amazing to make things much more simpler and not make those features so daunting. Thank you for this

Incredible video, just what I was looking for, thank you. I love the editing. Straight to the point. Would love to see a follow up video with the new updates (if you haven't made one. Going to subscribe and check). 👍🏼

Most annoying thing about this camera is having to re-enter the focal length for a manual lens EVERY SINGLE TIME you switch on. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Great video! Thank you. But the Lumix G9 camera got a 2.0 firmware update, so the features changed as well.

Question: if I plug the camera to a 4k monitor via hdmi, can I browse the pictures easily? can I delete them? some cameras when you plug them to hdmi, no longer have the same functionality

Which is frame rate in 4K that I can use to realize "in camera" TimeLapse videos? Is it 30fps or G9 can reach 4K 60fps TimeLapse videos "in camera" directly?

Do you know if you can use AFC single point af, for instance, and then manual adjust for finer focus? The manual focus assist only activates while on manual focus. Is it limited like that?

Would you (or your viewers) have any idea why I can't upgrade the firmware on a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX8 to ver. 2.2? It currently has ver. 1.1. I've downloaded the upgrade from Panasonic's website twice and followed the procedure precisely. Fully-charged battery, SD card formatted in camera, etc. I sure could use some help with this. Thanks!

try this - backup all photos/video on the memory card to a pc/external hd,etc. Be sure to reformat the memory card "in your camera" using the camera's card format option. On your computer download the specific zip file for your camera from Panasonic, I used their japan site. On your PC/mac extract the .bin file from the zip file and use explorer/finder to copy the .bin file to the "root" directory of the memory card. (Not inside any directory). Memory card back into camera, turn it on and select the "playback/view (right arrow)" button to start the firmware update process, should prompt you for a yes/no answer, etc. Here's a link to their JP site if you don't have it: av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/index.html

If you have the mic Level-Limiter set to ON, ot won't show the mic levels, on the LCD because it is like a Auto-Level.

I thought the G9 was primarily aimed at still photographers. So this kicks off with video- I stopped watching after the first 30 sec

    • @JaswantSingh-ym9zo
      @JaswantSingh-ym9zo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, I too have observed that most reviewers tend to concentrate more on the video than on the stills features, which has been very disappointing so far. I bought the camera for its stills. For videos I have a separate camera. So i hope there will be someone, preferably an experienced end user, out there to elaborate more on the stills aspect of the camera, as that was why this camera was made, and then go to the video aspects of it, so that those of us who are not interested in video can skip that portion of it. O also observed that some parts of this video is way out of focus, and I can hardly read what's on the menu screen

@@NerdRapper I think you missed the point. If I were shopping for a camera, I would be looking at videos that compare different makes and models, not a "How To" video. This is more suitable for those who are already owners of the G9. And I disagree with you that the G9 is better for videos. For short clips, perhaps, but I couldn't use it to record a wedding reception, for example. I can't use it for recording longer than 10 minutes. Also, what exactly is your definition of an "ahead of the game" camera? Brand? Better processor? High pixels count? And even if the G9 falls short of your definition of a "good" camera, or "the bigger the numbers (e.g. ISO, resolution, full frame, etc) the better", not everyone shares your sentiment. You want to talk brands, I have a friend who owns a Pentax K-1, but the pictures he takes with it puts many a Canon and Nikon to shame. As for me, I sold my Canon EOS 7D and got the G9. You may ask why? I asked myself. Do I need those fangle dangled high figure values. For example, if my family consists of only me and my wife, does it make sense to buy a MPV? The extra size means higher cost and consumption, larger interior to clean, larger parking space, etc when from a practical point of view a four seater saloon would suffice. Also, a Toyota would suit my needs better than a Bentley or a Lexus. So do I need a full frame? Do I need that 256k ISO? Do I need that high end processor? If I were using my camera to produce the kind of pictures suitable to print billboard sized prints, then the answer is yes. But if I wan a compact sized DSLR to use as a hobby, share my photos with friedns who only use mobile phones to view them, or put them up on my FB, then I find the G9 a perfect choice. I like the features, impressive IS, compact M43 format, easy to use pixel shift technology when compared to the Sony, etc. I took my camera to NZ on holiday, and while travelling on the Taeiri Gorge train, with its rocking carriages, I took great shots with the Panasonic 100-400mm zoom lens (actual zoom value 200-800) and I held it in my hand because it is dumb to use a tripod on a train. Also when I compare the lens to a 500 mm full frame, I probably wouldn't have been able to hold the camera without tripping over if I had a full frame Canon or Nikon. So each of us have different preferences for our "ideal camera", and I do not regret buying the G9, because the results and satisfaction it has given me are far better than all the previous cameras I have ever owned. The key word for me is practicality. Thank you

All this BS.. Set it up like this.. Switch the camera 'On' select Shutterspeed, select Aperture, select iso
then switch everything else off !!
If you can't use it that way, then i suggest going back to your phone ...

  • @kingdom777866

I just bought this camera, i dont know if ive done the right thing.. you can tell right away its made in
china, and ive found out what the "G" means.. Gimmicky ! its full of them, flicking switches, pressing
buttons its plastered in them, its a journey just to get to a assignment, its definitely a young persons
camera.. you know, (there always fiddling with there phones) i think its aimed at them..
The shutter sounds very flimsy too, and why is it in the screen the aperture only goes up to f4, while
    my lens is a 2.8 ?
Ive had Nikons for years, and Fujifilm mirrorless, but this thing seems like its 'Stamped out' not built
like other cameras.. sorry but i just cant put my finger on it, somethings lacking ?
As for video, i couldn't care less i hate video, none of my cameras have ever been used for video.. to
be honest i wish it wasn't on there, maybe the cameras would be cheaper to buy without video..
in any case, if i did want a video camera i'd go and buy a video camera, i wouldn't use a photo stills
    camera..
Have you heard about Canons latest camera.. they have vowed there not going to be left behind in
this "latest camera race".. its ment for the outdoor person.. its the R100f mirrorless, it has a can
opener, and fire lighter built in, also can be fully functional in depths of water of 100 foot just in
case you fancy some deep water fishing !!

Sorry Paul Green, I actually couldn't care less what their names are, I am here to learn about the camera functions, not them. Also you're telling them off for poor presentation, well I'm telling you off for the terrible over use of a full stop. Learn from your mistake.
