At 10:25, the chain is squeezing against the brake disc guard. It has bent the disc guard. It is good to chain the axle, away from brake assembly. Just my opinion.
Great detail In the video keep up the good work !!! Also LoShawn just want to congratulate you it looks like you're about to hit that 1 Million views mark ...........
Yo loshawn parks that's a clean load securement bro keep up the good work and stay safe YTTA Network all day I'm about to be getting back in the flatbed myself this week watch out for four wheelers and again stay safe brother
That whole thing of using one chain as two can get you a ticket. If it has wheels or tracks and the weight of the unit is more the 10,001lbs then you need to have 4 separate chains/binders. Also Your rear chain is bending the brake dust shield should have went around the axle where the leaf spring mount is...
SKT that statement about needing 4 chain is not true. DOT has no issues with the way I secured it and it is perfectly legal. why use 4 chains when if you know your points of contact then you don't need 4 chains. some of yall make me wonder sometimes.
weakest link is the rail spindle.rated 4,000 lbs i believe.I see forward and backward but i don't see up/down or side to side securement.Especially on the van tires.no biggy im just an over kill guy.Good job man.Liked the vid.Good luck and God bless.
I give yous Flatbeders allot of credit for everything y'all do. Too much techniques for me 😀😀. But I bet you its an awesome feeling that you get after you know it's secured!!. Stay sfae bro keep it coming.
I think it’s based off your weakest link. That would be your chain. And because it doesn’t go from side of the trailer to the other side, it’s half the weakest link.
Good video and very clean looking securement. Problem is the 2 chains for the vehicle is not legal. Also the 5/16 chains as of Jan. 1 will have a WLL of 0. DOT is moving to 3/8 or better.
all cars and trucks have tie down points on the frame. they are used for transport and also used for frame pulling machines to pull it back to square after a collision. but unless u hall cars or trucks or work on them you wouldn't know. they are marked on the frame is you look closely and read what is posted next to holes.
You have just earned a new subscriber in me with this video. You really seem to know what you're doing. I appreciate this because I am considering getting into hauling some step deck loads and I have never done it before. Please continue to put out quality content. One more thing, how does one become part of the You Tube Trucking Alliance? I've never heard of it before.
Hey Loshawn thanks for doing these videos i was wondering if you could do a video or something explaining different types of straps and how to use a snap binder and stuff like that. Anyways safe driving bro be easy!
In the drivers cargo securement handbook look at chapter 10. That's why other drivers are saying 4 chains and 4 binders BC of the weight of that jeep. With all of that bullet proof technology I'm pretty sure it weighs more than 10k. Just a friendly input not trying to start all that beef BS.
T Hollins I had a load of 3 HumVees that weighed about 5600 lbs per vehicle. I ran 2 chains (not to be confused with the rapper) on each vehicle, with 2 boomers per chain.
mark robertson Go ask a dot officer about hauling vehicles over 10k please don't actually have on loaded it's going to be an OS. 4 chains 4 binders some places want 5 of each.
What's your chain and your side rail rated for? I'm guessing lower than 5400. "Only as strong as your weakest link." If your chain or side rail is less than your binder, it's only rated for your lowest weight per securement. Especially with 2 binders on a chain.
Definitely I will not gonna secure the van the way it is in the video. The way you secure the straps to the trailer is totally wrong. 1st this hook is not designed to be used for strap going sideways otherwise you will cut the loop of the strap with the time 2nd the hook should loop with strap trough rail at least half way to release the direct pressure where the strap loops through the hook. Otherwise you risk to loose your freight bcs your strap and ratchet will got loose or missing. 3rd Many states are requiring the chain to be looped trough binders like the ones you have few times in case binder opens up and get loose. Now days you can get special kind of wire made lock to secure those kind of binders. I prefer tie down binders not snap binders, but I have 4 spacial snap binders with build in secure pin that locks the handle and prevents from opening, for those loads that tie down binder cant do the job bcs space is limited.
when loading the van put wood planks under the tires so you don't damage the boards on the van and get actual wheel tie down straps they have to come down strait not on a V .
Get rid of those binders they are crap. Pick up some ratchet type they are much safer and make for a better securement. Just a new sub. today great vids, keep up the good work.
4:38 You need 4 chains. What about side to side movement? You are better off over securing the load then under securing it. The van is secured better then the truck.

Much appreciated brother. Your videos definitely be helping us stepdeck brothers and sisters out

Kenny Chatmon appreciate man. That means a lot. thank you
I got a question when doing just cars that weight about 5,000 pounds do you have to strap all 4 tires ?
do you think as an indepednant dispatcher its possible for me to obtain these loads for my carriers?
What was the link up in the middle of the jeep
that setup is fuckin CLEAN
In the drivers cargo securement handbook look at chapter 10. That's why other drivers are saying 4 chains and 4 binders BC of the weight of that jeep. With all of that bullet proof technology I'm pretty sure it weighs more than 10k. Just a friendly input not trying to start all that beef BS.
T Hollins I will double look into it. Appreciate your input
T Hollins I had a load of 3 HumVees that weighed about 5600 lbs per vehicle. I ran 2 chains (not to be confused with the rapper) on each vehicle, with 2 boomers per chain.
Kevin Folds your legal under 10000 lb you can do that. Over 10k another story.
In essence that is four chains with the slack in the middle. Dot legal
mark robertson Go ask a dot officer about hauling vehicles over 10k please don't actually have on loaded it's going to be an OS. 4 chains 4 binders some places want 5 of each.
Good job man.
tc6868 appreciate it

Hey heavy haul whats the formula for chaining down for forward movement side to side and rear movement on your load?
Did your trailer come with the ramp storage installed on it and with the skids installed ?
great video be safe
New York City milkman thank you milkman
Hello sir between flatbed and stepdeck which one pays the most
The strap outside rub rail is ok?

Specially those chains always got around that one is supposed to go through both of them to
when loading the van put wood planks under the tires so you don't damage the boards on the van and get actual wheel tie down straps they have to come down strait not on a V .
