The rearward takeoff is a category A takeoff and is used to maintain a safe path to return landing at the takeoff point in case of a mechanical problem forcing an emergency landing during the takeoff, mainly an engine failure. The altitude to reach before going in translation path is the safe altitude for one engine inoperative (see OEI performance charts) hover. This way, there is enough altitude free below to gain forward speed and fly safely on one engine.
I have this aircraft, my first helicopter in MSFS, so it is quite a steep learning curve. Just a point re Automatic Takeoff "Rearward" takeoff is now modelled as "Helipad" takeoff with "Vertical" remaining the same in the FND if you are following along with the tutorials. Great work by Hype Performance Group!
Some of the best aircraft for MSFS. I've spent hours in the H145 and just picked up the H160. The detail that goes into their products is top notch. Keep up the great work.
These functions are "Airbus calls the new design “accrued pilot assistance” they are meant as safety features not as a feature for pilots to "fly hands off" The H160 sim looks impressive but your explanations of some of the actions in the video are simplistic for these features. Thx for the early access and look forward to more videos. For real Video of actual demo search Yt "Airbus H160 Helicopter | Airbus H160 automatic take off + Automatic Hover position | NEU 08-2020"
If you found it simplistic feel free to share your knowledge in a video, I'm sure we'd all love to know more. We can't all be SME's for a product that's not officially released.
@@cutlass6332the comment is regards the real world use of this function. If want jump in press buttons in sim I’m sure it work fine as tested by the Devs. I’m not referring to the sim just there are a lot factors to using this in RL that are not brought up etc. it’s just info not relevant to sim version. I not claiming the H160 here is wrong in anyway. Btw is just a game no one dies if you fk up and crash 😂
@@cutlass6332 hopefully the H160 manual that comes out with product will have information for using the functions with some aspect to usage. If you search YT H160 etc there are videos showing these functions and H160 ops. One such is the one I described in the first comment. It’s a complicated aircraft and hard to get hold of official technical documentation. I’m looking forward to seeing how the H160 is in sim if it’s as good as H145 it be a fine aircraft. If you can fly the H145 in sim then the H160 will be similar but has additional functions all of which I don’t know are simulated or possible. Let’s see what we get and hopefully it be a great addition
Once again, Hype setting standards for others to try and follow. I can't wait for this to be released! Thank you for making such a great instructional video and keeping it simple. 💚💚💚
Have a few questions after my first flight: 1) how do you descend without entering a vortex state every time? How do you ascend without over-revving the RPMs? 2) I can’t seem to yaw the craft using the rudder pedals. They act very much like an airplane, only slightly yawing the tail left and right. I almost have to be at a complete standstill to rotate around. Is this due to the automated flight control system? 3) there a pdf manual for this beast so I’m no longer asking stupid questions??
Looks fantastic, thanks for the video. As you mentioned missions and medical evacuations, can I assume an action pack will be release for the H160 like it was for the H145?
This thing flies like a dream and the systems are very engaging and work as they should. This aircraft is just surperb! A very good buy! I'm going to have so much fun flying this one.
It’s a really impressive Ap system. And I like so much these types of automation. But it’s work in any kind of weather situations? And there are Ap mode on Vnav for approches?
Impressive. I have the H145 and love it, but this one looks way more advanced. Are these auto takeoff actual features of the real helicopter? I'm guessing they are.
As a fixed wing flyer starting to peak into rotary wings, this seems kind of confusing to me. So you manually take off to use an auto take off? Seems contradictory. Once you've manually taken off what advantage is there to the rest versus just keep going yourself?
Nice Video!! In IRL, as I know, the 160 in the case of Rejected TO, drops to a few feet and returns to hovering. It is the pilot who then has to place it on the ground. I was surprised that the whole helicopter was doing the whole thing from the video. Am I making a mistake?
Umm.. well I just paid for this, and it looks really nice, but I am wondering if I went too soon. This is my first helicopter in MSFS and I didn't realise that (a) there does not appear to be a manual and (b) there appear to be no training missions. For such a complex (and expensive) beast surely these items should be 'out of the box'? Ok - this video demos the automatic take-off but I would assume, like fixed wing flight training, you learn to do everything manually first??

Do you have the problem of the rotor never stopping when you stop the engines?
@@diegomayan it does happen occasionally for me.
thank you!
This next 8 days are going to take forever 😂 can’t wait for this!!
For us too!
Thanks for the video. The work put into this module is amazing. Can't wait to see the other variants and the action pack!
Looking fantastic, can't wait to get my hands on the H160!!
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for a really helpful video, superb experience in VR and worth every penny :)
Can't wait to fly this puppy in MSFS2020 ❤
You’ll love it!
Take off and landing is the best bit, the most challenging.
Agree!
JUST BOUGHT IT!!! HOPEFULLY I CAN FLY IT. THANK YOU FOR THE AWESOME VIDEO/PRODUCT❤

I'd certainly appreciate hearing about RL intricacies of the systems as it's not something I'll ever discover in sim.

Slight flub at 9:33 where you said you were in the H145 but you're in the H160.
Thanks for watching and the correction!
Would love to see a full IFR flight with narration
Great idea
Clever stuff, nice explanation!

Do they take cash?
@@CpnGooseI can give you a loan from my piggy bank. I have about $5 saved in quarters, that will give you a head start.

I bought the H 145 and haven t registrated me and dont get a code can somebody help me?
Did anyone else see the semisubmersible carrying the UFO in the lake/ocean 😂
I wish this would release for Xbox. Along with the 145
Fantástico.
Thanks!
🚨And Xbox ???
Why would we buy anything when Microsoft has announced a new version of Flight Simulator? I know I won't
Because our aircraft will work in MSFS 2024
😍🤩🤑
Thanks!
That isn't automatic take off because you are already airborne and in a hover. Auto take off is what it says thats not it.
Automatic takeoff is what Airbus calls it 🚁
