Another, more technical reason why Luigi had green blood is because of palette limitations, and Mario’s tongue and “shadow” on the eyes are the same color as his hat. They just forgot to (or couldn’t) to color the rest of the replaced colors to be the original red.

The reality is that the SNES has a very limited color palette for sprites. Instead of creating new sprites for Luigi, they simply used Mario's sprite and changed the red colors to green.
Perhaps luigi is perfectly fine living a nice life and just sends guigi to do his work. Especially if Luigi has a massive mansion and lots of money from the Luigi's mansion series. Suggesting the Luigi's mansion games are the only ones where the real Luigi has to fight bad guys for real since it was when he was vulnerable. But it is possible gooigi was being a double body for Luigi in dark moon. But he was almost certainly present in Luigi 's mansion 3.
Interesting! I think a lot of us often wonder where all the coins and riches the Mario Bros accumulate goes after their adventures. Luigi using his fortune to basically outsource dangerous and stressful adventures to Gooigi instead makes sense!
