Since upgrading to an RTX 3090 at the beginning of the year, I've been playing a ton of older games at max fidelity with the addition of enhancement mods. The BioShock Series is what I'm playing currently, and I'm having a blast in Ultrawide 1440p.
Yeah i'm playing through the witcher 2 enchanced right now on a new pc, everything on ultra. Its honestly not as far off the witcher 3 on standard settings as you'd think 😂 i mean it is but it looks weirdly good
God damn right it was 💪🏽 hopefully we get back to this echelon of gaming one day soon. These where some of my final years in high school, and I spent a damn big chunk playing all these when they released 😂
1994 to 2005 was gamings greatest era. Magazines, walking to the shop to collect your game and talking to the staff. Each console having strengths and weaknesses. Nothing will beat that period of time because gaming had character then. Nowadays it's all simulator 3d shooting and cutscenes. The suits took over in the early 2000s.
I feel like this is highly dependent on your age. People usually feel like the games that came out while they were in their mid teens form the greatest era in gaming. For me, the holiday period of 2001 was stacked like nothing else. Halo. GTA III. Metal Gear Solid 2. Tony Hawk 3. Devil May Cry. SSX Tricky. Final Fantasy X. Advance Wars. Super Smash Bros Melee. ICO. Jak and Daxter. Roque Squadron II. Shenmue II. Pikmin. Max Payne. Silent Hill 2. Burnout. Project Gotham Racing. Golden Sun. Ghost Recon. Luigi's Mansion. All in the space of 3 months!
Not played anything above the original X-Box which I still have. I do enjoy Halo 2.0 and Battlefront which was 2004. I think Battlefront II was 2005. Those are the latest games I have played. I am more of a SNES person and also the Amiga during the same time.
There's not enough creativity and it's even worse when you think that the games that need remakes like infamous are not being made but something like tloup 1 has had 3 remakes
Per your point on monetisation post-release meaning there should be just as many releasing as back then. Perhaps that fact has lead a lot of gamers to spend more of their money on a select few games, leaving less budget/desire to play a host of others making a far riskier venture than it was, leading to less AAA games making the cut?
I’d say the monetisation strategy for companies shifted, once they’d make their money soley through release of the game and then need to work on the next release, now they can coast along printing money through microtransactions, not to mention that so many games are designed to stop you moving on as soon now
Personally, I disagree. 10 years ago, I felt the same way about the 2010's and wanted the 2000's back. I've realised it's just hindsight. There's lots of fantastic games coming out recently, even more so when you consider indie games
@MrConnman123 You're wrong there. Firstly, it's always pointless to decide how other people feel since that is impossible for you to know. Secondly, it's important to have critical thinking skills. Just because people you like argues something doesn't make it the de facto truth. If you personally feel that way of your own volition, that's fine, but that doesn't have anything to do with my opinion.
i slightly disagree with you, there have been many fantastic games that have been released after 2014, and even on this Ps5 Series X genration ther have been some amazing games released, and the thought that there arent any is just wrong.
@ objectively wrong lol. Pre-2000 games are just straight up bad by 2005 and onwards standards . Theres a reason why nobody talks about them anymore, because there’s nothing worth talking about.
I think the gaming world needs to reduce focus on being able to see bill boards and shadows 2 miles into the distance and look at game play and what people actually want, and that's creativity and something new. That's why nintendo does so well! Graphics have reached a point now where enhancements are barely visible... we should be able to expect a solid 10 top games per year... not empty promises for next year lol. P.s xbox 360 era was by far the greatest time.
The primary issue is that making AAA games now just physically take too long to make. They literally take at least twice as long to make compared to the PS3 Era. Because of that, companies are taking less risks because they cant release enough games to be able to weather a bomb or two like they dod before. Personally i would be perfectly happy with PS3 level graphics but running at 120fps and at 4k which would be much easier to do than modern textures at 4k
The greatest era was the one everyone probably grew up in.

80’s and 90’s greatest era, start of micro computers and consoles, and home to the greatest games. And everybody was happier then👍🏻🍺😎

the way you scrolled right past skate 3 with no mention 😣

Favourite year 2009. Pokemon platinum released and I loved that game to death. Still play it on and off today
There was lots of good stuff 2014-2018

I’d love to see you play and rank all the Harry Potter games if you haven’t already love the content 👍🏻
2001-2004
GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas ❤
I played most of the games you read outloud and even others that you didn't. I had as much fun during the N64 and Gamecube years. Good times!!!
My favourite is 2011 for sure, we're a similar age i think you're a year older than me but i also remember that skyrim midnight release
you should rate viewers gamelogs based on number of games and variety of games

Hahah spider-man 3. I still have nightmares about the QTEs in that game

it definitely was, call of duty peaked in the era too in my opinion
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug

Can’t believe you just skipped over skylanders and terreria in 2011 criminal 😂
no.
No, not even close.
I’d expand this list to 2005-2015. No doubt the greatest decade of gaming ever, and I doubt any other decade in the future could surpass it
1995-2005 already surpasses it lmao

Absolutely not lmao.
Day 2 of asking Cayle to listen to the entire discography of Mitski

Surprised youre not doing a video on all the leaks on RE9, pretty big leak too 👍
