Sorry the talking is so quiet guys, It sounded fine in editing but as soon as it is up on youtube its SUPER quiet. Zack is a very quiet guy! Will have better audio next time
It doesn’t seem that long ago you were living in your old house, growing mushrooms in your kitchen and talking about your dream of owning land and cultivating a large garden. It’s so awesome seeing you realizing that dream 🤍
The audio is totally fine! Don't stress it. It's so cool seeing all the things you guys are doing and trying to please a toddler lol. Too cute. The greenhouse omg.
I don’t plant anything. I don’t own a house or a garden. But I still LOVE watching these videos. So soothing, and it’s cool to get a glimpse of all the tweaks you’re making to your homestead.
First, loved that log toss at the beginning, don't know why but that casual chuck and thud made me giggle lol. Second, absolutely agree on the perennial vs annual, I won't buy either unless it's a perennial... totally feels like a waste of time and money!
Zack is getting better being on video. Congratulations chicos 👍🏻❤💛👍🏼baby is growning up super fast. Stay strong and sweet mama and papa we all love you. 😗
I love his little demands, please don't feel like you can't create because he's talking so much in them. It's a joy to see your little family working together, and baby voices are part of that. ❤️❤️❤️
I’m 5 minutes in and I just have to say, I love seeing Zack doing segments like this. So calming and truly takes me out of my daily stressors and the knowledge he shared is just a bonus! Adore your little family and seeing your journey! Much love from Portland!
Alder’s sweet little voice.😢 but also dying at him begging to go outside and once he got out there being like okay I’m good. Life with a toddler is hard lol 😅
@@AriannaBrieann yes, she said she regrets it and would take it back if she could though ☺️ not saying you have to take it back or edit it just sharing!

First year they sleep, second year they creep, third year they leap!! If you have ever bearing varieties, you will get the smallest of crops in the fall. Our raspberries (7b Baltimore) are beginning to flower and fruit now and taste best in the early summer / June. Our fall crop is always small and tasteless. Perennial plant club!! I like annuals (mostly sunflowers and zinnias) for filling in the gaps while my small perennials slowly grow and grow. 🌿🌻🌿
Highly recommend sticking a post on each end of your raspberry row so you can weave wire/twine between them (catching the raspberry canes between your string!) helps keep them upright and easier to pick/harvest!
Great video ... Just as a FYI raspberries often send up suckers, which you can dig up and re-plant and create new plants with, but they also spread really easy if you don't keep them contained, i would suggest creating a bed around them and driving plastic/sheeting down the sides of the bed at least 2 feet to stop the suckers.
This! Hahah my raspberries are all in pots, and produce plenty of berries, but it’s the only way to keep them from doing their natural inclination of “SPREAD LIKE WILD!” Hahaha
I just wrote the same comment. Berries in the ground are a bad idea because of this. Specially raspberries. There is a point that even if you dig them up and use them, so many come up that it's really hard to contain them and then the maintenance gets crazy.
We have a raspberry plant that has been in our family for about 20 years. We have just always dug up some of it when we moved and it has always preformed so well. I wouldn't take that three year shelf life thing too seriously 😊
My gosh some of the cinematography in these videos are just so good. The snail shot was beautiful. Perennials are my choice too. Lol annuals are for the passionate serious gardeners and hanging baskets. Hope your berries do good.
My no-dig asparagus and strawberry bed is booming, and literally couldn’t have been easier - I am such an evangelist for this method of gardening as a person with joint issues! Can’t wait to see your berry patch booming soon!
this is so exciting!! I grew up with my grandparents having raspberries and loved picking them for them and just going outside to get my snack. I have the best memories from berries lol. I hope your child gets those too ❤️❤️
Love listening to Zack talk, he is so soft spoken but gets his point across. Also that boy of yours is getting so big, love seeing him on your channel, great content from Arizona stay safe stay healthy stay cool 😎

Zack has such a relaxing voice, truly could listen to him all day . The idea of no dig gardening 🥰. I’m imagining all those fruit crumbles with ice cream or custard yummy yummy in my tummy 🤗 Stay safe stay well xx x
So mesmerizing 😍🤤. Between the beautiful trees and forest backdrop and Zack’s amazeBalls mountain man hair, beard and kind voice…… I’m in a fantastical, fairy tale/hobbit tale dream!!!! 🥰
OMG I totally feel you on annuals vs. perennials. My flower beds and larger pots are all perennials and I reserve 1 or 2 pots for some really pretty annuals but, I will absolutely NOT replant an annual in the ground every dang year!
My sister just adopted a bunch of blubes that her neighbor ripped out because they haven't produced in four years, and she's been watering them with vinegar water, and there are HUNDREDS of blooms!!! Check it out! They're so happy!
I think you can break up the roots much more aggressively, don’t be afraid to get in there :) serpa design does really great terrarium/aquarium/vivarium etc videos, and he does great videos on plant prep when you’re putting something in the ground or substrate in a terrarium. They’re also aesthetically gorgeous, relaxing, and give me so much serotonin lol!
I was hoping for anything decent to watch while I stuffed in my dinner which is super late bc of my gardening pursuits including late day indoor tomato watering. Grateful for the cool and local to me content.
I'm in coastal BC, & have only just started planting some stuff, tomatoes, peppers, squash etc are not in yet, just have them in our greenhouse because it's not been warm enough overnight. Soon though. Looks great! Also, with strawberries, they replace themselves with their runners('daughters')so no need to buy more. We started with 4 or 5 plants a few years ago.Our yard is now full of literally hundreds of strawberry plants!
Adorable! I'm also in the PNW and growing blueberries this year. Neighbors had some bareroot raspberries for free that I considered taking, but I'm so new to berries and I've heard they can be a little invasive. So excited to follow along with your berries!
Gardener here, just a bit of advice is to add waaaaaay more compost. For potatoes, bushes, deep rooted systems, you need about 12 - 18 inches of thick compost/soil material, a mix is best. It's ok that you went into your native soil, but also add an organic fertilizer to get your best root growth. We're in Wyoming, we normally get wind, but the wind this year has been way more intense this year across the country than it has ever been. Everyone has been complaining about it. Also, make sure your compost is not too hot. Sometimes compost will be too "hot" to plant in.
Our compost has been sitting for 6 months after it was delivered so it’s definitely not hot anymore. Ive added a few more inches of compost to each row since filming this as well
Ahh the inside outside dance lol. I started keeping plants when my youngest was a baby and that year they all died because kids are demanding. 5 years later she loves helping out in the ever expanding garden ☺️
I love watching your garden videos and I love how you keep everything real; no trying to cover up what happens in real life. The toddler years are so hard but also the best years. ❤️
It’s so lovely to see uploads on this channel again! And I love listening to Zack talk, even if it turns out more quiet then expected 😉 Also, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but toddlers and cats seem to have the same energy. I don’t have kids, but I do have a cat and I can’t count the amount of times my cats is crying on either side of the door wanting in or out 😂😂😂
I can't really garden anymore (I effed up my back a couple of years ago), but I love to watch you guys do it. Who knows, maybe I'll come up with a method of table-gardening, right at the height I need it.💁♀️🌱🐛
Strawberries send out runner's every year which you can cut off and pot up. Instant new plants which are a clone of the parent plant, so you will always have strawberries.
Awesome video, Zack! You did a great job. Our garden is planted, but we have been thinking about planting blueberries. But, it may be too hot where we are. I can't wait to see how yours do! We put red flags in our garden to keep the birds from snacking on our plants, but we have food for them!
