You can see the influence of Ray Charles, who was a close personal friend of Billy’s. In fact, he and his wife named their daughter after him (Alexandra Ray). Billy is a musical genius--singer, songwriter, composer, musician, arranger. His catalog is extensive. Thanks Shon for reacting to this. 👏👏👏🥰

So true, I just visited 1000 Island Seaway on St. Lawrence River. North of the Finger Lakes. So beautiful. Lots of people camp, I saw two State parks, amazing.

Shon, this is my FAVORITE song by Billy Joel. I am a native New Yorker, lived here all ky life, and I'm 67 years old. Takin the Grayhound that's the bus; up the Hudson River Line, that is the Metro North (commuter train) that has a scenic view of the Hudson River, with New Jersey across on the other side of the river. I used to take that train when I went to college on the weekends, when I was in my 40s. This song is badass!! ✌️🎶💙
Shon, you gotta react to "Billy Joel Kennedy Center Honors 2013". Billy was honoured for all his work and a bunch of artists performed his songs in front of him. It includes a back story of his life and for any fan of Billy, it's a must watch. Hell, even if you don't react to it, just watch it for yourself.

Mark Rivera an American saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, singer, musical director and corporate entertainment provider who is mostly known for his work with Billy Joel. In addition to playing soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, Rivera's musical abilities encompass vocals, guitar, bass, flute, percussion, hammer and chromium steel pipe, and keyboards. He's been with Billy Joel since 1982, replacing Richie Cannata. I don't think there is anything Mark can't do. This man is So Incredibly Talented and it feels like he is underappreciated for his magnificent talents!!! Love him!

I just love this song. Billy captured the "New York state of mind" perfectly. I grew up about an hour outside of Manhattan and so spent a lot of time there in my younger years. Yeah, there is such a thing as New York state of mind. We would hop a train and in an hour be there. Nowhere else like it in the world. ❤🍎Thank you for doing this song.

Billy is and was not only a genius musician and writer, buy he always surrounded his work with genius musicians in their own right. This was a sheer goose bump thrill the first time around. And every artist who joined him on his journey through the years has seasoned just as beautifully. Awesome reaction!
He's singing about taking a Greyhound bus up the Hudson River line. N.Y.City is on Manhattan Island surrounded by the Hudson River ( which flows into the Atlantic Ocean and , the East River. Directly across the Hudson River is
New Jersey. New York state borders New Jersey on its northern border. He's talking about taking that Greyhound ( name of the bus compamy) bus across the bridge ( either the Geo. Washington or the Tappan Zee bridge over the Hudson river to "Upstate" New York. Its a beautiful drive on the cliffs of the Palisaides all the way up the coast of N.Y. It's a mini vacation for the mind and soul ( a day trip). Upstate N.Y. is full of small towns, rhral areas, low mountains and trees, trees, trees. Its the exact opposite of living in the hectic cultural haven of N.Y.City

This is my favorite song from Billy Joel. Every time I hear it I can see the places he would be seeing from that bus ride and the Curcle Line ferry and tug boats. I can feel the life of the city, smell the street vendor food aromas, and hear the taxi's, hear the different languages being spoken and much more.

The Hudson River Line... Thats all around my way and where I grew up.. You could the train from Poughkeepsie NY South to Manhattan ...Or take RT9 By Bus or Car and you will ride along the most Beautiful Hudson River with the Majestic West Point to Bear Mntn to the Manhattan Skyline.. The most beautiful part of the country in my opinion.. Color me biased...lol
