  • If you want comfort, warmth, and stability in your hammock all year long, you need a hammock underquilt. In this video, learn how to install an underquilt so you can stay insulated against the elements on your next backpacking trip.
    Underquilts are essential for any hiker looking for protection from the wind and cold on their outdoor adventures. With underquilts sold by DutchWare, you get the necessary insulation at a light and compressible weight. Different types of insulating material work best in various temperatures or conditions, so think ahead to the environments you'll be in. We design our underquilts to fit the curved shape of most hammocks so they'll surround you with maximum comfort and stability from head to toe.
    In this video, Dutch demonstrates how to properly install a hammock underquilt to fit your hammock, make a tight seal, and fully protect yourself from the elements. Underquilts attach with primary and secondary suspension systems similar to those used to hang the hammock itself. We also offer a selection of other hammock accessories to help you get the most out of your camping experience, such as underquilts for chairs and underquilt protectors.

    Wow, this video is exactly what I've been looking for. I've had my Chameleon hammock and Cedar Ridge underquilt for a year but never got the setup quite right. This shows me the final tricks. I'm a big fan of Dutchware!

    Love my double chameleon set up! Laying in it right now. Sadly, I procured the last two CRO top quilts from Dutch. Gwen hooked me up. 😎 Wish they were still in business. Very good quilts!!!

      Did you get the reg width & length? 44 x 72 ? And did you feel it was ok for the dimensions ? Or did you think it needed to longer or wider ?

    I’m curious how this all changes when trying to tie out the hammock out to stakes. Or for tying out the gear puches out to stakes.

    Why not make the underquilt water proof so no need to carry an extra underquilt protector.

      All Chameleons should have 2 pack hooks in ever "corner" of the hammock. If you are unsure, please shoot us an email with some pictures and we can take a look for you.

    great video. my only question is how do you snug up the cords while you are in the hammock? I made that mistake last weekend and got really cold. I must have had an air gap. thanks again for great video

    The foot end didn't look like it was closed up all the way. Can you explain if that was just the camera angle or if there was still a small gap?

    • @dutch3323
      @dutch3323  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I saw that also. That did pull up all the way when I set the ridgeline quilt hook. I wish I had shown that in the vid after pulling it tight.

    So the underquilt hooks WON'T hurt the bug net?

    I have a few UQs and always feel like there is not enough shock cord (too tight). Is there a best length of cordage for a standard Chameleon? Thanks, Dutch!

    • @dutch3323
      @dutch3323  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many early under quilts were made for 10 foot hammocks. Quilts are made of different lengths so it is hard to come up with a fixed number. For a full length quilt, I usually have about 2 foot on either side.
