Intrinsic, which I thought was a better album than Exoplanet, is one of my favorite metal albums, period. This album sounds like it's going to be EXCELLENT.
I agree. Exoplanet has its moments, but I can find something I love in every song off of Intrinsic. They become more and more musical each album. I love the skills they have with dynamics. Man. :D
kitramsey5150 Except for the obvious fact that there are many people on YT (look at comments) that enjoy Intrinsic more, it vibes better. Many, including myself, listened to Exoplanet and loved it. And then loved Intrinsic more.
kitramsey5150 The nice thing is that it's music. Our subjective feelings don't need to agree. I have Intrinsic on my top 20 all time metal albums. Many wouldn't. To me, it's superior in almost every way. Much more dynamic. It encouraged me (an 11 year player) to write things that I had not before.
this CD has been a part of my spiritual journey recently. the more you experience in life the more these songs make sense. I've listened to this CD like 20 times through and through each with a different realization
The industry isn't built for artists. It's not the place they go, nor would they care to. The industry is fine, for people who are casual music listeners. Nobody owes anybody else anything, except parents to their children.
When a band is this sophisticated this is the only way to do a music video. Such a good album and music video. I bought the album on itunes but I might just get a physical copy to support the band some more
This band has really had an amazing transformation. From an intriguing but slightly generic deathcore band to an avante-garde prog-metal band pushing the limits of the genre...can't wait for this album to drop.
I am the rare Contortionist fan that loves every album they have put out. They all shred in their own different creative ways. Seriously, they have given us metalheads a huge range of music within 4 albums and now it seems they are expanding the genre itself. Much respect and love. Language is incredible and I really hope I get to see it live.
I only discovered The Contortionist this because I saw they were going on tour with Periphery. I got the albums, and I am also one of those fans, and would go as far to say as they are one of the first bands that comes to mind when asked if I have a favorite band. Although I love Periphery, these guys stole the show on that tour.
Very rarely am I utterly captivated by a mere music video. This illustrates that rarity quite nicely. The chills descending down my spine, assuaging my essence, are more than ethereal.
The only other bands that can do to me what this just did to me would be Dir en grey and Plini. These guys are improving with age. Clearly they're very intelligent for a bunch of darn kids....
Jimbabwe Arnold Plini has music videos? His playthroughs are nice but I don't know about them being as captivating as this. Same goes for DeG. I mean, obscure just grabs you but the rest of their videos aren't that captivating
Funny. I remember when I was much younger, older people telling me that I had missed the musical boat. That essentially all of the great records had already been made. The great bands of the 60's and 70's had done it all already. Explored the great reaches and meandered along all the melodies. The sex , drugs and rock 'n roll was over. How tragic it was that I didn't have anything in my generation to be proud of. All this new music was shit. By the time the 80's rolled around music was a desolate junkyard of broken instruments and neglected neon signs... Frizzy hair and lip gloss... The 90's introduced plaid and the 2,000's 'new metal... Songs like this make me feel quite the contrary... I've owned 10 copies of "axis bold as love" by now... Seems the old school will never catch a glimpse of these records though... A shame.
Watchtower, Cacophony, Fates Warning, Voivod, even Dream Theater, wasn't that 80'ies? Rush peaked in 80ies, and Rush is the very cornerstone of all good music :). And then came Cynic, Pestilence, Sieges Even, Psychotic Waltz and miriads of other bands... Early 90ies were extremely rich in amazing music. But it is true, now is another great time for music.
Yeah, 90's are really rich, when i tried to find out new metal bands, mostly they started in 90's and they become famous in 2000+ for example. In every age there is a great music, now we can see so many genres and freedom in it, so everyone can decide what to listen and we don't have to say just: I listen to metal/ rock/ pop, because everything is sometimes every kind of music mixed together :D or these classic styles have maybe a new design, shapes, looks. I am very happy to see new music, because many of older groups are outdated for me which i used to listen.
It´s better enjoying all type of music rather than hearing the same music always. The soundtrack of their lives are really boring jajaja. i like really few bands from the 70´s, the 80´s had some great great bands but the 90´s just gave me one of the best bands i´ve heard, and then the 00's with the new music full of variety! I can´t decide which one is my favourite
You know old people..they always gonna tell you that their times were better and that this generation is lost..and the old: "TURN IT DOWN!!! THAT ISN'T MUSIC!" :)
I totally agree, well said man. Now is our time and a new era of music, and thankfully a lot of gen x and even baby boomers can see and appreciate some glimpses. At least ones I know.
Just discovered you (band) yesterday and I am hooked to this and Return to Earth, and listening this on loop constantly. I am a huge Tool fan and I can hear something similar in your sound. I hope you won't take this in the wrong way. \m/
For me The Contortionist is one of the flawless bands of this generation, each album is different but equally superb. Crossing genres at will but never losing their identity, even on this track I can hear echos of Exoplanet. Can't wait for this album to come out.
I listen to it some mornings. It reminds me reality has it's deeper levels. The source, the center. This song is an invite to keep walking in this direction. Much love good taste people. From BR
Their first album is still one of my favorites. Truly wasn't a huge fan of the second album, but this song is very beautiful, well written, and I really look forward to the release of this album.
Ryan Wilkerson Didn't say it didn't have any good songs. Also perhaps my expectation of the CD was a little too high and also was expecting something different. I am all for bands changing their sound and evolving which they did on Intrinsic, but I just found it harder to enjoy from start to finish whereas with Exoplanet, just every song is spectacular (in my opinion of course).
Ryan Wilkerson If you want life-changing, listen to the outros from Flourish or Exoplanet, and the intro to Exoplanet III. They brought Intrinsic to its knees because of the music and the SCOPE of the lyrics; one is not complete without the other
As a black dude growing up on Rap and then transitioning to Hip-Hop right around time i started skateboarding, i hated metal! I traveled with a group of friends to Springfield, MO to compete in a tournament in the morning but i'll never forget that friday night a homey had suggested that we go to a Metal show and my punkass was livid and whined for the duration of the drive. Once we got there i was salty and sat in the car like a little bxtch! 😂😂😂 Fast forward a bit and i started playin drums and now i listen to almost everything but primarily Hip-Hop and Metal!! Hey man, I am about to lock down some ibanez's for our upcoming tours, but in this video that is a 2008 Peavey Cirrus. Very underrated production basses, and it's now discontinued :(
Apart from this song being an absolute masterpiece, I also love how you can actually see how they enjoy playing it. These genuine smiles tell you they don't want to show off or pose as the great musicians they are, but they just love playing the music and appreciate how it all comes together as art. I don't know why I wrote this, but it just seems like a very unique thing for a music video.
Everyone who is still butt hurt about this not sounding like Exoplanet needs to get over it. They obviously grew up and out of the whole deathcore thing and so should you. This will surely be AOTY material. They can do no wrong.
Saw them at Summer Slaughter.... My life has never been the same.... And now, my life has been changed again.. If I could wear a jacket of goosebumps, this would be the reason being.....
You know a band is unique when they keep their distinct sound even with a new vocalist. The Contortionist is truly one of a kind and this album is shaping up to be magnificent.
The progression at 3:00 makes me feel like I've reached the peak of my mental state. Similar to the outro in Geocentric Confusion and the outro in Vessel. I. FUCKING. LOVE. THIS. BAND.

This band has been one of my favorites. It comes back into my life in different intervals whenever I need to connect back to myself
Best use of a delay pedal ever.
Yess, that's kickasss
Almost forgot to watch this masterpiece this week. Glad I remembered, peak music.
This music is so intelligent, refined, sensitive, powerful when it needs to be. almost the perfect band for me
Intellidjent
@@nico_crowned indeed!
See ? Vocalist replacement sometimes is great.
Mike Lessard is a phenomenal vocalist.
Man. :D
Intrinsic is for musicians.Exoplanet is for pubs.
kitramsey5150 Except for the obvious fact that there are many people on YT (look at comments) that enjoy Intrinsic more, it vibes better.
It encouraged me (an 11 year player) to write things that I had not before.
kitramsey5150 Of course, a few times when I was younger. I don't like it.
1:17 Bacon Hyper Communication 🐽🥓🌐
Love the direction TC is heading! Michael Lessard is a perfect fit for them too!
Totally agree
shits like fucking cynic! love it man
This drummer... dear God.
This album healed me.
STILL DOPE IN 2023
this CD has been a part of my spiritual journey recently. the more you experience in life the more these songs make sense. I've listened to this CD like 20 times through and through each with a different realization
Best possible replacement for the vocalist.
Still one of my favorites from The Contortionist... damn I can replay this songover and over
Me too Cua. My fav!
Perfect for background music whilst playing Mass Effect
thatd be sick if this was in andromeda
+Stephano Castino yes it would. bands like contortionist would go amazing with that game series period i think
this whole album is perfect for gaming in general
ME:3 Online and Nero goes together like butter and bread
This is foreground music
Best intro of all time
Definitely
The industry isn't built for artists. It's not the place they go, nor would they care to. The industry is fine, for people who are casual music listeners. Nobody owes anybody else anything, except parents to their children.
When a band is this sophisticated this is the only way to do a music video. Such a good album and music video. I bought the album on itunes but I might just get a physical copy to support the band some more
The intro is the best part it should be looped for hours 👌🏻 same goes for the last like 40 seconds of the song 🤘🏻
7 years today. One of the greatest albums of all time front to back. Thank you!
im so high bro
One of the best albums ive ever heard. Hasn't left my car in 5 years
Beautiful Intellectual Metal.
What is intellectual metal?
FutureSequence This is.
Miguel Riveros ^
Miguel Riveros What makes it belong to the "Intellectual Metal" subgenre?
FutureSequence It's not a subgenre, just something people like to call progressive music because they consider it an intellectual type of music lmao.
One of the most perfect and beautiful songs I've heard in this fucking life.
Best pop punk funk indy hippie EDM core band ever
+RagingDemon99 I thought they were pop crunk core
+landon schweitzer i thought they were rap
+TheSquishiestManatee your all morons, this is obviously hungarian Polka
jazz fusion
Let's all just agree that it's funk based groove pop and chill ;)
The guy I dated who I later found out was married brought me here at least one good thing came out of that bullshit relationship.
funny and sad at the same time
Ah well, I'm sorry.
Relationships may not last forever and can be bad, but music, music lasts forever.
Nick Kohlmann 100% facts 🙏
Although I love Periphery, these guys stole the show on that tour.
imagine creating the greatest song of all time
You spelled album wrong
If I had created The Real Thing by Faith No More, I could....
@@stubkar you spelled Metropolis part 2: Scenes from a Memory by Dream Theater wrong.
@@spudfella4937 you spelled deliverance from opeth wrong
You spelled Periphery II: This Time It's Personal wrong
This band was my background music when I got pregant🎉❤❤❤
Very rarely am I utterly captivated by a mere music video. This illustrates that rarity quite nicely. The chills descending down my spine, assuaging my essence, are more than ethereal.
Amazing! !
I just meant the music lol you ever hear dir en Grey's newer stuff?
Yeah I've heard all of DeG's disco, most Jpn alt metal and metal bands as well
In every age there is a great music, now we can see so many genres and freedom in it, so everyone can decide what to listen and we don't have to say just: I listen to metal/ rock/ pop, because everything is sometimes every kind of music mixed together :D
or these classic styles have maybe a new design, shapes, looks.
They hit #6 on Billboard Hard Rock chart today. I'd say a few people must like it?
Just discovered you (band) yesterday and I am hooked to this and Return to Earth, and listening this on loop constantly. I am a huge Tool fan and I can hear something similar in your sound. I hope you won't take this in the wrong way. \m/
go running an listen to this song
Use to listen to this album every morning while I ran, great music for running!
this album is perfect for running lol
Just about to go run
If Your Heart and Your walking stay at this polirithm you Will probably have an Heart Attack😂😂😂
For me The Contortionist is one of the flawless bands of this generation, each album is different but equally superb. Crossing genres at will but never losing their identity, even on this track I can hear echos of Exoplanet. Can't wait for this album to come out.
too bad they go through singers like dirty underwear... exoplanet is my favorite
One got a DUI and the other has a kid. Maybe its a curse.
I listen to it some mornings. It reminds me reality has it's deeper levels. The source, the center. This song is an invite to keep walking in this direction.
Much love good taste people. From BR
Well said! I can feel the higher vibrations from this music. :)
Their first album is still one of my favorites. Truly wasn't a huge fan of the second album, but this song is very beautiful, well written, and I really look forward to the release of this album.
Same
How did you not like Intrinsic? Causality and Dreaming Schematics are such life-changing songs.
Jordan Spencer totally agree
Ryan Wilkerson
If you want life-changing, listen to the outros from Flourish or Exoplanet, and the intro to Exoplanet III. They brought Intrinsic to its knees because of the music and the SCOPE of the lyrics; one is not complete without the other
fuck and i thought after the burial are best :D still love them but this ....... fuck it breaks all borders
+pashul1n Check out Sky Harbor if you haven't heard of them, they are excellent. If your a fan of ATB, check out "Auras" Crestfallen album.
i know skyharbor and tessaract :D and checked out thats good i mean Auras :)
+pashul1n Cool. "Circle of Contempt" Entwine album is another gem...
i know them too :D
they was befor atb :D in my music list :D
+pashul1n well you are just as, if not more knowledgeable than I sir. Let's see...what about "Ever Forthright" They are different. Just one album.
Fast forward a bit and i started playin drums and now i listen to almost everything but primarily Hip-Hop and Metal!! TBDM being one of my favorite fxckin bands of all! RIP Trevor!
The song slightly reminds me of Cynic, can anyone tell what bassguitar is used in this video?
Yeah you arent the only one haha
He played Ibanez Soundgears for a good while. I think its an Ibanez Prestige of some kind.
Hey man, I am about to lock down some ibanez's for our upcoming tours, but in this video that is a 2008 Peavey Cirrus. Very underrated production basses, and it's now discontinued :(
Jordan Eberhardt I've always wanted to try Cirrus. I may be wrong but doesn't Otep bassist use Peavey basses mostly?
Arlet Tiigi I believe most bassist use a bass man just saying
Apart from this song being an absolute masterpiece, I also love how you can actually see how they enjoy playing it. These genuine smiles tell you they don't want to show off or pose as the great musicians they are, but they just love playing the music and appreciate how it all comes together as art.
I don't know why I wrote this, but it just seems like a very unique thing for a music video.
perfect example of each musician is individually talented at their instrument.
Aronofsky's The Fountain comes to mind; which is a very good thing. Minimalist art that resonates. Dig the song, dig the video.
Everyone who is still butt hurt about this not sounding like Exoplanet needs to get over it. They obviously grew up and out of the whole deathcore thing and so should you. This will surely be AOTY material. They can do no wrong.
I play this song when I need help with matters that are not of this physical world. "Intuition speak to me"
Saw them at Summer Slaughter.... My life has never been the same.... And now, my life has been changed again.. If I could wear a jacket of goosebumps, this would be the reason being.....
For the past 6 years.. this song makes me feel like everything is going to be okay.
You know a band is unique when they keep their distinct sound even with a new vocalist. The Contortionist is truly one of a kind and this album is shaping up to be magnificent.
Am I the only one that hears Cynic hear? especially 1:45, even the context of the lyrics D: !!!
2023 and still getting chills..
What a master piece!
Who’s here in 2024?
The progression at 3:00 makes me feel like I've reached the peak of my mental state.
Similar to the outro in Geocentric Confusion and the outro in Vessel.
I. FUCKING. LOVE. THIS. BAND.
Was brought here via Devin Townsend... fucking gorgeous song.... christ.
Sorry it took me so long to find this Masterpiece !!!!
"Reaching, Expanding, Life finds it's purpose, Reaching for the mother's sun, Rooted to intuition, You are the language"
Very few bands can provide me with the simultaneous need to head bang and ruminate over the mysteries of existence quite like these guys
I feel like this album was way ahead of its time. It still stands up today
8 years later and I still get chills listening to this song.
i tried to play it at 0.75 speed, and forgot to switch back LMAO
This album came out 5 years ago today and it changed my life. Still play this record almost daily. Cheers Language. Thank you The Contortionist for writing this masterpiece that got me through the darkest of times.
This is such a powerful testament.
I just know if this song came out in 2009 I would have been the biggest stan of this band
Siguen pasando los años y es mi canción favorita 😎👽love the contortionist 🇲🇽
harry potter had enough of hogwarts: played guitar for the contortionist instead.
Didn’t even make a mistake with the delay pedal.
who need coffee when u can wake up to this masterpiece
