Welllll....Destiel WAS my fave back then.... but ( superhell mixer sounds increases). Sterek was...interesting...the franchise seemed to more or less "sumthin-that-rhymes-with-Nate" the fanfic writers and artists without either heteronormative or canon or thereabouts-inspired fics and art. Now my favourite is ChenAi (Chen Yi and Aidi from Kiseki:dear to me)
I'm rooting for ineffable husbands!! they're like fathers to me!
btw would like to hear your opinion on that. And its very interesting that you should mention, manipulation. ChenAi is Taiwanese. And my comments about it seems to sometimes "disappear" and there are suspiciously low comments in its commentsections. Now, WHO doesnt like Taiwan ??? Who COULD IT possibly BE....?? ah well, Im probs just paranoid.
Honestly I just got into the Doctor Who fandom this past year I did not expect TenRose to do as well as it did. Jack and Inato, sure Ao3 gonna be Ao3. But not Timepetals, it's been over a decade since they've been on screen together. And there have been dozens of other ships to take that spot. I gotta say I am pleasantly surprised.
Haven’t watched yet but I’m hoping MizuEna from Project Sekai is on the list (or any Pjsk ship tbh)
Project Sekai is 10/10 would recommend the story is amazing with well written, relatable characters (also Hatsune Miku so good songs too)

In all honestly, it warmed my heart to see the silly little Minecraft Guys and their silly little Found Family Dynamics get so far in a competition dominated by romantic pairings.

I miss the SBI days, I'm not really into the Sorry Boys stuff and Wilbur is busy touring (I love his music but couldn't afford a ticket ;~;). QSMP is pretty good so far, that's what I've moved on to.

In themselves not that giggle worthy (apart from the fact they're adorable), they're canon and not a crack pairing or anything, but it is funny that only one person cares this much 😂. Literally all their fics were written by yours truly. In fact there is only one fanfic in the whole fandom I didn't write.

@@yourcasualnobody I will always recommend watching Doctor Who to anyone I can. It's one of my all time favorite comfort shows. I recommend starting with the first episode of the New Who with the 9th Doctor first, he was only the Doctor for a single season before Tennant came in and it gives a great background for Rose and her relationship with the Doctor. Nine is my 3rd favorite Doctor, too, behind Ten and Eleven.
Since you like Good Omens, Nine has the same "trying to be grumpy but with a soft gooey center" thing that Crowley does.

I think it will take a while to get a ship resurgence just bc the characters are so young at the start of the series
Percabeth and Irondad & Spiderson are the two that I really was surprised to not see go further, but I have not kept up with the cool anime in the last twenty years, so I didn't know any of the Haykuu, AoT, and My Hero Academia ships very well. (But hell/heaven/ngk yeah, GO goes hard.)
Of all the ships we could have lost to it was the ultimate winners, I don't even like Star Trek and I know that's gotta be a win for Good Omens

I know!!! Aw I wish I knew where all the startrek fans were coming from!! Finding other fans these days seems few and far between and as someone who more recently found the trek fandom it's definitley sad not being able to interact with other fans (the most interaction i get is in pinterest comment sections of all places
True true, and then when you do find another fan, they’ll probably despise the series you were first introduced to or they’ve not seen your favorite ST film lol.
I believe most of the votes were from non-Star Trek fans, though. It wasn’t a contest of fandom popularity, but of ship significance. I’m just pleasantly surprised to see so many people justifiably rally around something Star Trek related, especially in direct contest with infinitely larger fandoms.

I’m so deep into my Marauders fandom hole that I keep getting surprised when Wolfstar isn’t a top ship for a lot more people! It’s definitely big, especially considering that (I think?) ATYD is the most-read AO3 fanfic, but I really need to lower my expectations, seeing as I’m not seeing a lot of Wolfstar fans in these comments
It's a shame that JKR kinda ruined the fandom for a lot of people, (and shipping wars soured even me on unknown Draco/Harry/Hermione pairing or OT3 authors - show me the gen and then maybe I'll trust this one not to bash or pull OOC shenanigans) because while Potterverse has always been something of a secondary fandom for me, I do like me some Wolfstar. And Pink Wolf. And PinkWolfstar. Because there is a chill "live and let live" section of the fandom, and the Marauders tend to be it, offering the fluff and angst and spice without hating on others for trying a different flavor. A lot of the Marauders authors that I first read on FFn have moved on, but it's nice to think that the fandom is still carrying on.

@@B2WM This is probably a fairly big component. JKR's constant anti-trans tirades and other awful comments make it intensely hard to want to be associated with anything she's making money from. I won't even touch HP myself and know a lot of people who have dropped it because it makes LGBTQ fans uncomfortable.

i think the reason why the kpop ships lose so badly was because within the last couple of year kpop has really shifted to a very 'don't ship real people zone', at least from what i've seen from a babyfan in 2018 to experience fan in 2023
There have always been pro- and anti-shippers in kpop (I'm a kpop fan since 2005) and endless fanwars over it. It tends to just move from group to group, depending on who is popular and has lots of interactions or fanservice moments. I think RPF is losing popularity in BTS lately, but there's still tons of new kpop RPF from what I can see when I'm searching through tags on ao3.

I'm familiar enough with the recent top 100 AO3 ship list, and also the fandom as a whole to feel fairly confident saying it's platonic or familial.
The fandom is honestly FAR too toxic to most shipping for them to be anything else

Seeing Wilbur and Tommy in the thumbnail scared the life out of me. And despite how big of a fan I am of Doctor Who and Good Omens (and have been dubbed as the biggest GO fan and Ineffable Husbands shipper in my uni course... tbh I'm just a big fan of David Tennant), seeing the Ineffable Husbands and Ten/Rose go up against each other really hurts; but the OG!!! you have to take into account that bts and harry potter are mocked a lot on tumblr, so i think that influences many of the results 🤔

BTS I understand, but Harry Potter's honestly such a behemoth in terms of fandom (even despite JKR), that I assume it transfer over to AO3 and Tumblr.
Shipping isnt really taken seriously by armys (as far as i know) and most of us are on twt anyways, we dont spend much time on other platforms

@@theboxygenie from what i’ve seen, yes it has a fanbase on tumblr but besides the marauders fandom it gets shit on a lot. the tags of the polls involving harry potter is mostly just “we cannot let anything related to jkr win” in very aggressive nature and spite makes them lose almost every time (unless the other ship has an even worse reputation)

i feel like a LOT of this tournament came down to how much general goodwill people not in either fandom had for each ship? I think that was a big factor in mulder/scully beating Destiel. and also for every time a harry potter ship got knocked out by someone smaller. Like there were a lot of these that I'd never seen either and voted based on vibes
It’s funny that I can almost always guess the outcome of an hp ship against the others correctly. I also feel that a different picture of Harry/Tom where Tom looks like Tom would have raised that score at least a bit. Maybe not enough to win, but more than the little it had.

As someone who literally joined tumblr a few months ago specifically for Supercorp, this poll was WILD. We beat Tododeku. We won against the french boys by 37 VOTES. We almost beat WANGXIAN. (I actually only know who those guys are from your channel Coley.) The brainrot has somewhat subsided a little bit since then, but still. I can remember the insanity.
I think the reason all the BTS pairings lost so early is because it's just not all that big in the tumblr-sphere, at least compared to other sites. If this poll happened on twitter, the BTS pairings would've gotten further (this is just a guess of course, as my only experience with BTS was when they had a crossover with Cookie Run Kingdom a little over a year ago and the Cookie Run fans on tumblr (including myself I will admit) reacted pretty negatively to it when it got announced. Granted there were multiple reasons for it and it wasn't all because of BTS, but that's a story for another comment).

I was beyond happy to see SBI (the platonic ship/found family dynamic of Wilbur Soot, Tommyinnit, Technoblade and Philza Minecraft) to make it to round three, and seeing arizacrow go against Bedrock Bros (Tommyinnit & Technoblade) was incredible, same feelings for seeing Steddie go against Beeduo (Ranboo & Tubbo)
I was expecting to see Steddie fall down eventually, but against Sterek was very interesting but I’m not mad in all honesty
