Maybe because it was basically a BUFFET of ships. Want Puzzleshipping aka YugiXAtem? Good to go there's SO much content. Prideshipping? Ohhhh got you covered. Puppyshipping also a big one. Wishshipping aka Joey/Yugi, Heartshipping aka Ryou/Yugi, Vaseshipping which is Mana/Atem, Supportshipping which is Tea/Tristan, Deathshipping which is Ryou and Bakura which mmmmmmmhmhmhm PROBLEMATIC but go for it, there's literally so much to pick from for ships both straight, gay and lesbian there's no reason to get into fights over NTP and OTP. Like SAY your OTP is Prideshipping thanks to DSOD people WILL look at that and go "yeah that makes sense I don't like it but makes sense" or puzzleshipping people can't really knock that cause there are SO many in show moments that COULD support it even if it isn't canon,. It's just honestly a good time shipping over there. Which is rare.

@@soccergalz7401 Ye-hah! I'd recommend playing/watching a playthrough of MGS1 or MGS3: Snake Eater. Those are pretty much the best introductions to Metal Gear (3 is pretty much a prequel to the whole the series, concerning Big Boss's origins set during the Cold War, so no worries on spoilers). From there you can go wherever your interests take you! If you like stealth action games with a character driven story that can tonally go from goofy camp to serious, political and philosophical on a dime, I can't recommend Metal Gear Solid enough. They're such fun games.

yeah.. I'm in the IT fandom and the huge majority of the fics or fanart are post-IT chapter 2. And if not, it's teenage reddie (usually 17-18). Reddie is just my favourite ship of all time and I think it always will be, but it's really confusing when people tend to think I'm talking about the 13 year olds when I'm actually talking about 40 year old reddie. Seeing as I am in both the Sherlock and the Marvel Fandom here's my theory: For Stucky there are other people to ship them with (for example Tony and Sam) whereas in Johnlock there aren't really any other characters to ship them with which is why I think Johnlock is more popular.

Hannigram walked, trying to give Destiel the chance to sprint, but in the end Destiel trips and knocks over everything in its path, but both still end up having continuous level 5 events and moments (thanks to the cons), and seemingly won’t stop trending together on tumblr from about March of 2024 onwards. Suffice to say, Hannigram won because it ate the rude and strutted its way to the shipping hall of fame (at least on Tumblr)
As a huge ZhongChi shipper, I was shocked to see that ZhongChi had even made it into the poll, mainly because even though it's extremely popular, the ship had only existed about 2 years in comparison to the other ships that had existed for so much more time. Made me super happy though 😂 I can only imagine just how much more popular it might get in the next few years.
As a non-Zhongchi shipper, that was wildly entertaining lol. They barely even spoke to each other. And I will still never get over the fact that mihoyo rlly made Zhongli buy him marriage chopsticks, and Childe can't even use chopsticks 💀💀. A true representation of their relationship, considering how Childe apparently married the guy before he even knew his true identity. Even if it's a ship I don't like, whenever mihoyo decides to go super ham on a ship and be super obvious I always get +10 respect points for them. That's always more preferable than keeping things super vague between characters.

Cackling over the Wangxian mess because I was 100% on Wangxian’s side, and I was really pleasantly surprised how far they made it. 😂 I know YOI is _huge_ and its ship(s) are extremely iconic, but Wangxian has done a _lot._ It came out of China, where the LGBTQ+ community is still pretty invisible and underground. While the laws are very unclear about LGBTQ+ in real life, it’s very clear that the media is meant to be suppressed, yet Wangxian really went and kicked danmei into high gear. Danmei and bl are huge in China, but Wangxian just seemed to make everything bigger after it got a donghua and then _again_ after it got a cdrama. That also helped spread danmei to the west, but it wasn’t _just_ that that Wangxian helped spread. MDZS was, along with _Quan Zhi Gao Shou,_ two donghua in 2018 that really introduced the international community to Chinese animation, which quickly led to a surge in growth for the donghua industry. Without them, idk if we’d see as much talk about Chinese media as we do now. Like the MDZS donghua really solidified its animation studio (BC May) as a force to be reckoned with. Now BC May is one of the best-known donghua studios out there! Plus we have more and more donghua reaching success in China and in the west these days, which is awesome, and I really do think some of that is thanks to MDZS. Plus MDZS has its donghua and cdrama adaptations, both of which were _huge_ nationally _and_ internationally, but also a manhua and audio drama adaptation, as well as the original novel. These have since been dubbed in Japanese as well, an internationalization opportunity that still feels rare and exciting every time it happens (the other two huge donghua in Japan are _Legend of Luoxiaohei_ and _Link Click,_ and MDZS is the only big danmei one out of these three). MXTX is arguably also just the biggest danmei author out there in general right now, and it’s her novels that were the first danmei to be published by a big company in English _officially._ Plus MDZS really is probably MXTX’s most popular work, and it served as (besides Genshin) a representation of her other novels as well as Chinese media overall in the poll. The fact that the _entire danmei and donghua communities_ are continuing to grow and become more mainstream and some of that is thanks to Wangxian… For me, that’s what made Wangxian so iconic. Her works helped introduce people to danmei, to cdramas, to donghua, to Chinese audio dramas, to manhua, to the actors/singers Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, to Taobao, to Tencent, to Bilibili, to boys’ love _in_ cdramas… Hell, I hate to mention this, but Wangxian also almost _ruined_ Xiao Zhan’s life. It helped further propel him into stardom, yes, but for those in the MDZS fandom, you’re all probably aware of the fallout that shipping wars had on Xiao Zhan and in some ways on Ao3. I know that’s a rather negative thing to bring up, but it does involve the Wangxian fandom. Even with that though, things have calmed down and despite so many adaptations of Wangxian having ended, the fandom continues to go strong (the manhua was the last adaptation to end just last month-now we “only” have _The Untamed_ mobile game left (as if the novel, donghua, and audio drama didn’t count as enough food ahaha)). The English translation of MDZS is also coming to an end soon, along with the English translations for TGCF and SVSSS, but Seven Seas already has _Erha_ and _Qian Qiu_ and various Priest novels lined up for translation. Really wouldn’t have had that if MXTX’s works _hadn’t_ been popular enough for its fan translators to reach out to a company for English translation, and for MXTX’s works to prove that they are formidable enough to be successful and popular _after_ publication in the west. So at least in the west, even though MDZS definitely and obviously hasn’t reached the levels of _Star Trek_ (which was so important for building fandom in general), MDZS _has_ had a huge impact on fandom and media and Chinese fandom/media overall in the modern day. Like it really _has_ been a major stepping stone in the rise of Chinese media outside of China, which I’ll forever be grateful for. I’m a Chinese media nerd through and through, with donghua being my favourite medium out of the bunch, and I’m glad they’re becoming more mainstream! 🥺 Plus it’s just…again, the fact that Wangxian (and even Zhongchi) represent how Chinese creators-and the LGBTQ+ community-continue to create/find representation in censored media…that’s pretty big. Chinese creators can’t afford to queerbait-they can _only_ give hints like this, and stuff like the dragon-and-phoenix chopsticks of Zhongchi or the three bows marriage ceremony of Wangxian are _riskier to put in than to leave out._ There are already unconfirmed rumours that MXTX was jailed for writing gay ships, and while these are entirely unfounded rumours, the very _fact_ they exist show how Chinese creators continue to slip in gay content despite not having to. So yeah. Wangxian-and danmei and Chinese creators in general-are doing a lot, even if it’s not really as huge in the west still, and I will always appreciate them for that! 👏

@@izzya7703 Im not aware of everything that happened, but basically what i know is that a NSFW fan fiction involving xiao zhan and wang yibo (not as their characters, but as themselves) got many complaints by fans who wanted to save xiao zhan's image since he was being portrayed in a feminine way and it was the reason that the chinese government blocked ao3 in china, so many of the chinese fans got mad at him for it, since now they had to find other ways to read/write fanfic, but like, xiao zhan's projects got postponed and brand deals got canceled because people were harassing him and his coworkers and he had to basically stay out of the spotlight for a few months while everything calmed down

There are many reasons why. The wlw/sapphic content has been limited over the past ten years but recently there's been a big boom of wlw ships and it's gaining more popularity with each and every day. There's alot of ships with thousands of fanfics and hunderds of thousands of posts on social media sites. The main issue is we need more content and thankfully its getting better.
Yeah, wlw ships is where Genshin pretty much shines, cause Hoyo loves teasing the lesbians. Unfortunately people either hate Genshin too much or Genshin Twitter just decided to be an asshole, again, like they do everyday. Jesus, sometimes I'm glad I don't interact with this fandom very often.

I panicked as my tumblr crashed when Destiel became canon in the Spanish dub. I cosplayed Overhaul to a con before COVID hit. I voted in the Tumblr Sexyman Poll. I have seen it all.

It features Otacon, a nerdy scientist who's sad bc his inventions are being used to kill, just as his fathers' and grandfathers' inventions were used to kill. And Snake, who is literally a clone and brainwashed into being a supersoldier, and is sad bc he's being used to kill. They first meet when Snake stops a malfunctioning cybrog ninja from killing Otacon. No, Im not joking. Very iconic shit right here :3c they later adopt a daughter together

I know it’s late to say, but Hannigram strutted and slayed so Destiel could have the chance to run, but ended up falling over face first before the first lap was over. (Plus, while both the Spn and Hannibal cast and creators have a genuine care for the characters, the Hannibal cast and creators never mocked or treated fans who enjoyed the ship poorly. Hell Bryan fuller and the cast realized the ship made sense and encouraged and canonized it fully in the end. Plus, Hannibal has been getting a giant resurgence recently, and really has had a more vocal but respectful fan base, so I’m guessing that’s why it won). Again, I know it’s late but seeing my two beloved ships go head to head makes me cackle but also feral.

Wishshipping aka Joey/Yugi, Heartshipping aka Ryou/Yugi, Vaseshipping which is Mana/Atem, Supportshipping which is Tea/Tristan, Deathshipping which is Ryou and Bakura which mmmmmmmhmhmhm PROBLEMATIC but go for it, there's literally so much to pick from for ships both straight, gay and lesbian there's no reason to get into fights over NTP and OTP. Like SAY your OTP is Prideshipping thanks to DSOD people WILL look at that and go "yeah that makes sense I don't like it but makes sense" or puzzleshipping people can't really knock that cause there are SO many in show moments that COULD support it even if it isn't canon,. It's just honestly a good time shipping over there. Which is rare.

Those are pretty much the best introductions to Metal Gear (3 is pretty much a prequel to the whole the series, concerning Big Boss's origins set during the Cold War, so no worries on spoilers). From there you can go wherever your interests take you!
If you like stealth action games with a character driven story that can tonally go from goofy camp to serious, political and philosophical on a dime, I can't recommend Metal Gear Solid enough. They're such fun games.

yeah.. I'm in the IT fandom and the huge majority of the fics or fanart are post-IT chapter 2. And if not, it's teenage reddie (usually 17-18). Reddie is just my favourite ship of all time and I think it always will be, but it's really confusing when people tend to think I'm talking about the 13 year olds when I'm actually talking about 40 year old reddie. I mean, I thought chapter 2 was just as popular?? it's choc full of popular actors.
Seeing as I am in both the Sherlock and the Marvel Fandom here's my theory: For Stucky there are other people to ship them with (for example Tony and Sam) whereas in Johnlock there aren't really any other characters to ship them with which is why I think Johnlock is more popular.

I was planning to finally watch Supernatural when I got smacked in the face with Destiel becoming canon for all of 5 seconds. The show still interests me so I’ll probably get to it eventually, but damn am I putting off for even longer
Hannigram walked, trying to give Destiel the chance to sprint, but in the end Destiel trips and knocks over everything in its path, but both still end up having continuous level 5 events and moments (thanks to the cons), and seemingly won’t stop trending together on tumblr from about March of 2024 onwards. Suffice to say, Hannigram won because it ate the rude and strutted its way to the shipping hall of fame (at least on Tumblr)
As a huge ZhongChi shipper, I was shocked to see that ZhongChi had even made it into the poll, mainly because even though it's extremely popular, the ship had only existed about 2 years in comparison to the other ships that had existed for so much more time. Made me super happy though 😂

Cackling over the Wangxian mess because I was 100% on Wangxian’s side, and I was really pleasantly surprised how far they made it. 😂
I know YOI is _huge_ and its ship(s) are extremely iconic, but Wangxian has done a _lot._ It came out of China, where the LGBTQ+ community is still pretty invisible and underground. While the laws are very unclear about LGBTQ+ in real life, it’s very clear that the media is meant to be suppressed, yet Wangxian really went and kicked danmei into high gear.
Danmei and bl are huge in China, but Wangxian just seemed to make everything bigger after it got a donghua and then _again_ after it got a cdrama.
That also helped spread danmei to the west, but it wasn’t _just_ that that Wangxian helped spread. MDZS was, along with _Quan Zhi Gao Shou,_ two donghua in 2018 that really introduced the international community to Chinese animation, which quickly led to a surge in growth for the donghua industry.
Without them, idk if we’d see as much talk about Chinese media as we do now. Like the MDZS donghua really solidified its animation studio (BC May) as a force to be reckoned with. Now BC May is one of the best-known donghua studios out there! Plus we have more and more donghua reaching success in China and in the west these days, which is awesome, and I really do think some of that is thanks to MDZS.
Plus MDZS has its donghua and cdrama adaptations, both of which were _huge_ nationally _and_ internationally, but also a manhua and audio drama adaptation, as well as the original novel. These have since been dubbed in Japanese as well, an internationalization opportunity that still feels rare and exciting every time it happens (the other two huge donghua in Japan are _Legend of Luoxiaohei_ and _Link Click,_ and MDZS is the only big danmei one out of these three).
MXTX is arguably also just the biggest danmei author out there in general right now, and it’s her novels that were the first danmei to be published by a big company in English _officially._ Plus MDZS really is probably MXTX’s most popular work, and it served as (besides Genshin) a representation of her other novels as well as Chinese media overall in the poll. The fact that the _entire danmei and donghua communities_ are continuing to grow and become more mainstream and some of that is thanks to Wangxian…
For me, that’s what made Wangxian so iconic.
Her works helped introduce people to danmei, to cdramas, to donghua, to Chinese audio dramas, to manhua, to the actors/singers Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, to Taobao, to Tencent, to Bilibili, to boys’ love _in_ cdramas…
Hell, I hate to mention this, but Wangxian also almost _ruined_ Xiao Zhan’s life. It helped further propel him into stardom, yes, but for those in the MDZS fandom, you’re all probably aware of the fallout that shipping wars had on Xiao Zhan and in some ways on Ao3.
I know that’s a rather negative thing to bring up, but it does involve the Wangxian fandom. Even with that though, things have calmed down and despite so many adaptations of Wangxian having ended, the fandom continues to go strong (the manhua was the last adaptation to end just last month-now we “only” have _The Untamed_ mobile game left (as if the novel, donghua, and audio drama didn’t count as enough food ahaha)). The English translation of MDZS is also coming to an end soon, along with the English translations for TGCF and SVSSS, but Seven Seas already has _Erha_ and _Qian Qiu_ and various Priest novels lined up for translation. Really wouldn’t have had that if MXTX’s works _hadn’t_ been popular enough for its fan translators to reach out to a company for English translation, and for MXTX’s works to prove that they are formidable enough to be successful and popular _after_ publication in the west.
So at least in the west, even though MDZS definitely and obviously hasn’t reached the levels of _Star Trek_ (which was so important for building fandom in general), MDZS _has_ had a huge impact on fandom and media and Chinese fandom/media overall in the modern day. Like it really _has_ been a major stepping stone in the rise of Chinese media outside of China, which I’ll forever be grateful for.
I’m a Chinese media nerd through and through, with donghua being my favourite medium out of the bunch, and I’m glad they’re becoming more mainstream! 🥺
Plus it’s just…again, the fact that Wangxian (and even Zhongchi) represent how Chinese creators-and the LGBTQ+ community-continue to create/find representation in censored media…that’s pretty big. Chinese creators can’t afford to queerbait-they can _only_ give hints like this, and stuff like the dragon-and-phoenix chopsticks of Zhongchi or the three bows marriage ceremony of Wangxian are _riskier to put in than to leave out._ There are already unconfirmed rumours that MXTX was jailed for writing gay ships, and while these are entirely unfounded rumours, the very _fact_ they exist show how Chinese creators continue to slip in gay content despite not having to.
So yeah. Wangxian-and danmei and Chinese creators in general-are doing a lot, even if it’s not really as huge in the west still, and I will always appreciate them for that! 👏

@@izzya7703 Im not aware of everything that happened, but basically what i know is that a NSFW fan fiction involving xiao zhan and wang yibo (not as their characters, but as themselves) got many complaints by fans who wanted to save xiao zhan's image since he was being portrayed in a feminine way and it was the reason that the chinese government blocked ao3 in china, so many of the chinese fans got mad at him for it, since now they had to find other ways to read/write fanfic, but like, xiao zhan's projects got postponed and brand deals got canceled because people were harassing him and his coworkers and he had to basically stay out of the spotlight for a few months while everything calmed down

As a more recent fannibal, and a long time Destiel shipper, I’ve come to realize that while Hannigram strutted so Destiel could try and run, Destiel took 5 steps and face planted, allowing Hannigram to get back up and continue to strut - reminding tumblr how a polite fandom and canon ship acts.

There are many reasons why. The wlw/sapphic content has been limited over the past ten years but recently there's been a big boom of wlw ships and it's gaining more popularity with each and every day. There's alot of ships with thousands of fanfics and hunderds of thousands of posts on social media sites.
The main issue is we need more content and thankfully its getting better.
Yeah, wlw ships is where Genshin pretty much shines, cause Hoyo loves teasing the lesbians. Unfortunately people either hate Genshin too much or Genshin Twitter just decided to be an asshole, again, like they do everyday. Jesus, sometimes I'm glad I don't interact with this fandom very often.

With virtual polls, it's like with real ones: There are always people who vote *against* something, not for. So I'm sure some of these results are the way they are due to people that aren't fans of a particular medium or ship.

It features Otacon, a nerdy scientist who's sad bc his inventions are being used to kill, just as his fathers' and grandfathers' inventions were used to kill. And Snake, who is literally a clone and brainwashed into being a supersoldier, and is sad bc he's being used to kill. They first meet when Snake stops a malfunctioning cybrog ninja from killing Otacon. No, Im not joking. Very iconic shit right here :3c

Destiel losing to Hannigram, though...I've never seen either of the shows but I was legitimately shocked and am a bit convinced that we are in the dark timeline. It's just TOO iconic of a ship to go down that quick, ya know?
I know it’s late to say, but Hannigram strutted and slayed so Destiel could have the chance to run, but ended up falling over face first before the first lap was over. (Plus, while both the Spn and Hannibal cast and creators have a genuine care for the characters, the Hannibal cast and creators never mocked or treated fans who enjoyed the ship poorly. Hell Bryan fuller and the cast realized the ship made sense and encouraged and canonized it fully in the end. Plus, Hannibal has been getting a giant resurgence recently, and really has had a more vocal but respectful fan base, so I’m guessing that’s why it won). Again, I know it’s late but seeing my two beloved ships go head to head makes me cackle but also feral.
I am with you, Coley. I ship ZhongChi, I think it's cute and the fanfics and fanart are amazing. I know none of my Genshin ships will ever be canon, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying them.

Without Wolfstar, there is no Marauders fandom- because it all sprang from Wolfstar shippers seeking out the younger years to make their ship canon. I'd say it holds more power especially since the Marauders fandom had become so prominent in the last few years.
