I think the transparency strat could have worked if you tinted one game red and the other blue. That way you would be able to see both games at once while also being able to tell what is in each game.
but if one game game is tinted blue and the other tinted red, they are both tinted red/blue because they layered on top of each other. for example, a spike in level 1 would be red but it would have the blue shade of level 2 on top of it, whereas a spike in level 2 would be a transparent blue but blending with red from level 1. it would still be a fairly incoherent mess of colours and shades
