Was Floor Jansen born in the USA,she was a worldstar. Happy for us, she lives in Europe. Most versatile female singer in the world with a great band, Nightwish. I was lucky a saw last Sunday in Antwerpen. What a gig.
@@pietkeizer5279 Lucky you indeed. That gig must have been very special. I wish somebody released a full video of it. I can imagine the reaction of the crowd when Goddess entered the stage. What did she say? I know she started crying at the end of "Sleeping Sun". Floortje may act like a badass metal chick and a fierce warrior queen, but she's so sweet and sensitive...
Hello JohnReavesLive ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I just posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: th-cam.com/users/gbardaccommunity 🤘
Midwest Division. Great Lakes Battalion of the Nightwish Army checking in from Straits of Mackinac / Mackinac Island, Lake Huron, USA. I"m glad you enjoyed your entrance to this musical rabbit hole of the band Nightwish! Welcome! Just follow Sir Gabriel's path he's laid out for you, and you'll be just fine. I'd really like to join you on your journey as you become part of Nightwish's story, so I'll sub now if that's alright with you!
@@BTMegadeth They are both amazingly talented in their own right. I feel like Tarja has the edge in the classic/operatic department (though Floor's classic style isn't too hard on the ears either). However, I think Floor's ability to use multiple vocal styles - and to be able to shift seamlessly between them - gives her the advantage in terms of versatility.
@CatmanKelowna You must be joking. As a Nightwish fan from the very beginning, and a fan of the early Tarja material, she can't compete with Floor at all. She can only sing classical, that's it. If you have ever heard her try anything else it's a painful experience. Not everyone can be versatile and that's ok. I love those old classic Nightwish songs but Floor can do them just as well. In a way that I have never missed Tarja after the initial scare of Nightwish losing a singer. Add to that Floors seamless ability to switch between any style, rock, folk, or even growl, and you have to be deaf, or deranged to even suggest Tarja is on the same talent level. Further more Floors stage presence is phenomenal where as Tarja was present, but never engaging and controlling the audience. Even as a finn myself I can't wear such rose-tinted glasses.
Oh Floor Jansen can growl, sing pure opera, sing rock, sing metal, sing pop, anything she chooses, and sings them all great. What ever the song needs vocally she can provide. This band has many sounds, all of them great stories and polished to a high gloss. Nightwish is awesome.
@@careylymanjones No. I'd rather listen to Floor sing an IKEA assembly manual in Swedish than French rap. Or any kind of rap. On the latest album she does use this sort of rap/hip-hop cadence (which originally comes from operettas) quite a lot though. One of the reasons I don't like it.
Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power of her vocals. We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard. ALL HAIL THE VALKYRIE GODDESS!!! The Nightwish Army is incoming! You're not ready! Nightwish Army Central Florida Black Company reporting for duty! That was #13 of 15 songs in that show.
You'll find that the Nightwish army recommends their live performances because they have Floor as the vocalist because she was a fill in during this tour. She was called over during the American part of the tour which was 10 months before this amazing concert and she came on board as the permanent replacement from their second singer, Annett, at the end of this World tour. She is their third singer and is able to sing any of their catalog. Their first singer was Tarja, who was more operatic, the second singer was Annett, who was a bit more poppy and didn't have the stage presents that Tarja or Floor have, and listening to the songs of her era is best from their music videos in my opinion.
Both are correct actually. When she got the first call, there was no urgency. She was just asked if she could - probably - fill in for the rest of the tour because Anette was pregnant and would not be able to perform later. Two weeks later things "suddenly" got quite messy within the band and Floor got the "come here NOW and learn everything by the yesterday" call. The rest is history.
@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 May be I missed something......Was the Goddess asked to learn vocals at the first call? That would be a new information to me......
You're in for a ride you never thought you would be on. Every song you hear is your favourite until you hear the next one. Nightwish is FANTASTIC and Floor is out of this world 😍♥️🎸🎤
Floor stands 6 feet, 1.5 inches tall in bare feet, and she's wearing some pretty tall heels here.....audience was an intimate little gathering of 82,000.....this entire concert is on both DVD and TH-cam, titled "Showtime, Storytime"....this was the 13th song of a 15 song show
@@NPK476 You have such a graceful way of putting it, haha. Dunno about "stomping", but you definitely have a point there about NW having lost the metal. I reckon our metal friend here will get to Epica in due time. Cheers from Amsterdam!
I just “love” how people define metal. “This band isn’t metal enough, this band is just right”. Bands evolve, music evolves. There are aspects of Epica that are amazing and there are aspects of NW i prefer over Epica. This is not a zero sum game. Nightwish is an amazing band with an amazing composer and musicians.
@@NPK476 Oi hello, sweetheart. I remember you. You were making jokes about "Dark Chest of Wonders" now having new meaning for Floor as she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Very witty of you. Why? Just - why? I highly doubt that our sweet Floortje has ever done anything that could hurt you personally, and I'm most certain that she doesn't owe you anything and is not obliged to satisfy your musical preferences. As hard as it might be to accept, our favourite musicians do not belong to us and do not live just to entertain us. They can do whatever they want. Deal with it. Bless your heart, lassie.
It's a great concert to watch in full. That was 13 of 15 on the setlist for the night. 1 Dark Chest of Wonders 2 Wish I Had an Angel 3 She Is My Sin 4 Ghost River 5 Ever Dream 6 Storytime 7 I Want My Tears Back 8 Nemo 9 Last of the Wilds 10 Bless the Child 11 Romanticide 12 Amaranth 13 Ghost Love Score 🌟 14 Song of Myself 15 Last Ride of the Day
@@guyoverthere2215 Yeah. With openings it basically either start light and build up from there or blow the doors open and go in waves with the show. They sure exploded everything on this one 😂
@@guyoverthere2215 opinions vary. Personally I find Dark Chest of Wonders to be about the most boring Nightwish. It lacks structure. But that is just my opinion.
I used to not give metal bands with frontwomen the time of day. But symphonic metal changed that. Floor Jansen (Nightwish) and Simone Simons (Epica) are the absolute queens if you ask me.
First shot of Nightwish is always amazing. We've all been there. We all know what's coming... except for the one reacting of course. I always end up cackling like a super villain.
I was there, third row on the left (covered in mud, alice cooper played right before, what abparty). My first time hearing Floor as the nev vocalist. My mind was BLOWN! One of the best shows I ever witnessed!
Have just seen your comment. I've been a fan of theirs for a long time. I have watched the 2013 Wacken DVD more times than I would care to admit. I'm an ugly shade of green that you were there. I shall go to the grate with the only regret of my life: I wasn't in that crowd ~!~
I’m blown away by this big beautiful lady with her magnificent voice and stage presence. I’m 72, a lifelong music fan, and I’ve never heard anything quite like her. The rest of the band are also outstanding performers. I’d really love to see them in person someday.
The question in the thumbnail shouldn't be "This is Nightwish?". It should instead be "This is LIVE?". I would not blink an eye before deciding to put this on a CD. Studio quality work from both the band and the sound crew.
Nice reaction. This is one of their most melodic/symphonic songs, but they are by no way limited to this. You'll find their catalogue filled with many different songs, from this song to very heavy. For a nice contrast listen to Storytime or Romanticide from this concert (Wacken 2013). Floor Jansen has many different styles of singing and even in one song she can change from one to another seemlessly. Enjoy your journey🤘🏽
No, that's not the end of the show. Welcome to the world of Symphonic Metal... Being symphonic metal allows them to take their music several different directions. This one is the longer epic experience. But they have several songs that are in the more traditional heavy metal style as well... and just about everything in between. They even have songs with a touch of that Celtic Rock kind of vibe. But no matter the basic style of metal they are going for, their songs will always have those signature symphonic and choral elements that give the music that incredibly rich, full sound. Enough of me, Gabriel and the rest of the Nightwish Army will be along soon to further guide you down the rabbit hole that is Nightwish.
In my 63 years of life I have never heard a better female singer, and I've only been listening to them for about a year. The band is the best on the planet.
Oh heck yeah... The Nightwish rabbit hole is definitely worth falling head first into! Same Wacken 2013 concert, try "Romanticide" for a harder sound! Thank me later... 😏
welcome to NightWish and our Valkyrie Goddess Floor Jansen, all the artist are masters of their chosen professions that have come together to form something special, come down the rabbit hole that is NW, the Goddess may call you to battle, send shivers down your body, or bring out the tears, and on occasion bring out the demon, but it is a journey you will enjoy 👍👍🤘🤘
Welcome to the magical world of symphonic metal and Nightwish. This is one of the most epic live performances EVER. The singer is a Dutch singer/songwriter and vocal coach Floor Jansen, the best singer ln the World (IMHO). The band is from Finland (founded 1996). Glad you liked and greetings from the Northern Finland! ⛄👍
I've listened to symphonic metal before, NW is unlike anything I've ever heard......each member of the band is a master at what they do....and Floor, well she's the best of the best. It's like I've never heard music before.
There are so many different aspects to Nightwish. Please do more! Great reaction. Also, they are a band to always watch the live version! Try Storytime from the same concert.
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal and Nightwish. Formed in 1996, they are from Finland, 3rd and current lead singer ,Floor Jansen(Yan-sen) is Dutch. No, that was not the last song, #13 of 15 here at Wacken (Vah-ken) Open Air festival in Germany, a headliner in 2013. The purple guitar you asked about is Emppu's custom ESP Horizon EV-1( EV for Emppu Vuorinen). This is only a fraction of what Floor ,and the band, can do. She was only with them about 10 months here, having taken over mid tour. The mastermind is keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, he write 90-95% of the songs, including the orchestral backing track recorded with the London Philharmonic. See the comment from Gabriel Bardac for more info, and links to a lot of their songs Recommend you try Romanticide from this same show. It's a heavier song.
Could u believe, that almost all of their songs are composed by one man alone? The master mind behind all of this is their keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen. Humbly also known as "Metal Mozart". The further you'll dive into this rabbit hole called Nightwish, the clearer you'll understand whence the title. Buckle up, fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride!
What a cool dude you are, a subscription was a no brainer. You appear to be a warm person, your soul is obvious in your eyes and smile. Be prepared for an influx of the 'Nightwish Army' John, they are on the way.😊 You will find that Nightwish is so much more than just a band, they are life force taking you on ethereal journeys with each song. Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride !! 😊🤘🤘
Paul!!! for real thank you so much for this message! I honestly am humbled to have you here and am stoked to find out more about this band! they are all so talented!!!
Congratulations, you have discovered the greatest band and the best singer on the planet. Try "Storytime" from the same concert next, you can thank me later.
Keep choosing LIVE recordings with Nightwish. You want even more range...? NIGHTWISH - YOURS IS AN EMPTY HOPE (live at Wembley Arena). Be attentive on who sings what! They both sing, but one is high and one is LOOOW. Also, Follow Gabriel Bardic"s list. He will appear in the next 22hrs. Much love to you and Ukraine 🌻🌻🌻💙💛💙
You have been introduced to Nightwish and their amazing singer Floor Jansen. The wacken pronounced with a V as it’s German. She was still a temporary singer with the band 10 months at this point. Try Romanticide from the same concert. Btw that song was third from the end.
Agreed, Romanticide is heavier and also Marco giving more in it. Holopainen who writes lyrics and is composer of songs if a few exceptions excluded is simply a musical genious and also very nice person. As are all members of Nightwish.
@@haroldcrown5541 Yeah, Emppu is very cool and great guitarist. All members of the band are top class with their instruments and could play in any top band what comes to their skills.
A big welcome to the Nightwish Universe 👍 This was 10 minutes, that just open a door to Symphonic Metal, the merge of symphony and metal music. As you said - this is storytelling, and you are spot on. The stories are often complexed and written in chapters, always deep and poetic, often with quotes from scientists and writers like Darwin, Sagan, Darkins, Shakespeare etc etc. Tuomas (keyboard) are widely acknowledged as Metal Mozart - and the superhuman in front, Floor Jansen, are the most versatile, powerful, talented and skilled storyteller ever - and she has the stage charisma and presence to match. Not kidding!! You have only scratched the surface of Nightwish's and Floor's capabilities - not even 10%. This Wacken 2013 concert is legendary, and the quick and easy way to go, is by doing their live versions of their songs - Nightwish are a true live band, feeding of the feed-back from the audience. Look out for Gabriel Bardac's comment and info. He has collected a lot of the best links / audio from the net, plus some background information. And please stick to these concerts: Wacken 2013 Wembley 2015 Tampere 2015 Buenos Aires 2018 Hellfest 2022 In this way you can also follow the evolution Nightwish have been going through, since Floor and Troy became permanent members in 2013. By the way - they don't have 2 songs that are alike - every song a new and different telling - but there are a red line in all of the them, especially after 2013 - The Evolution of the Earth, Human and the Nature / the Earth, the wonders of the Nature - and lots about human behavior, thoughts, technology. About Floor - she calls herself a voice nerd - she masters every known voice- and breath technique, and she developes her own!! Her ability to express emotions and passion are unbelievable and incredible powerful - you will experience down the road! Again - a big welcome to the Nightwish Universe, from Nightwish Army Denmark 🇩🇰 👍 💪 🤘 🤘 🤘
Kim!!! thank you so much for the info!!!! Floor seems like my spirit animal and I love it!!! how awesome that she's such a master of the craft! Cant wait to hear more from them!
What a great commentary and info provided! I'm new to Nightwish and I cannot stop watching their videos and listening to their catalog in the last few weeks. I do not understand the hold they have on me - Floor in particular! I tear up often when I hear her sing. And the song writing is fantastic, along with the whole band's mastery of their craft. Just an amazing group of artists :)
I agree with Gabriel something a little more in a traditional style next "Storytime" Live at Wacken 2013. As everyone will be explaining to you Nightwish is very much a Live experience. When you get a suggestion from the Nightwish Army it should include the song name and the live performance that they request it from. I will caution you that many of the older live performances from the older shows, people have gone in and tried to re-encode the video to proclaim it as HD. Unfortunately, the process caused the recording to slow down. Hardly noticeable on some songs on a first listen, but quite noticeable when you have heard the performance at the correct speed. Gabriel will supply you a list of good links.
Best to see them like this DVD, all by themselves. Wacken they are limited with time and stage. You can't limit bands like this. It's a crime. That show the video came from is like 4 and a half hours I think. You don't get that at Wacken. This kind of show is the best way to see Nightwish, by far.
Congratulations for finally discovering Nightwish, they’re a brand new band for you, but for all Europe, South America and Asia, they’ve been a staple of sublime, exquisite and exceptional mastery in symphonic rock music. Their concerts in Europe and South America draw way more public than most shows by comercial artists in the US. Plus, I’ve yet to see a match for Floor’s vocal abilities, Tarja was a great lead singer too, although more symphonic and operatic than Floor. Tuomas is a master musician, you should check the arrangements he made for a full orchestra and Night Wish.
You just did meet .. the best female vocalist of these times ! .. the Dutch Floor Jansen ... classic and rock trained ! in the Netherlands ... and there is a lot more of this amzing singer !
Nice reaction to the point. Yes she can growl (yours an empty hope from Wembley 2015). Emppu the guitarist can shred.(Romanticide Wacken 2013), all that depending on the song. For more not expected Nightwish songs follow the list from Gabriel. This was song nr 13 on the setlist, 2 to follow.
@@JohnReavesLive Storytime from Wacken 2013 is a good start. My personal favorite is Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley 2015. And the Ghost River from Wacken 2013 is also really good.
Thank you for your reaction on Nightwish. Yes, BTS and Nightwish are both Storytellers. That's why I like Them so much. Nightwish does have music video's but, are live so much better. Floor Jansen just had surgery for breast cancer. Thank goodness it isn't bad. She is already performing again to finish the tour So much respect for her. In February she's going to get radiology. I'm going to see Nightwish again on the 27 november again. I'm truly happy that you reacted to them. To let you know; BTS - ARMY Nightwish - Nightwish army Thank you again and warm greetings from The Netherlands 👍💜🍀🤘💪🇳🇱🌷🤗
Aw, I love finding people who are members of both Armies. 💜🤘🏻 It really does comes down to them both being masters of story-telling, huh? Thanks for giving the update on Floor - I didn't realize she was battling breast cancer. Sending love her way.
Actually with this particular concert that was their third to last song the next song was called Song of Myself and the last song was called last Ride of the day last Ride of the day is a hell of an ending with all the pyro on stage and fireworks on stage as they were performing... You should also check out their other concerts especially live from Wembley vehicle of spirit tour the song 7 days to the wolves weak fantasy shudder before the beautiful and also greatest show on Earth you will be absolutely totally blown away
"The Metal Vocalist-JohnReavesLive" is a breath of fresh air to watch and listen to. He responds the best "for me", his knowledge of what he perceives. Also love his tone of voice, facial expressions, calmness, not overreacting or being hyperactive. . And all that in combination with nightwish. What more can one ask for! 💯
Nightwish Army North Texas division reporting for duty! Welcome to the wonderful world of Floor Jansen and Nightwish! Actually, this was song 13 of 15 at this show. Two songs followed. This is is just the tip of the iceberg for this incredible band. Maybe check out Romanticide from this show next. Enjoy!
Another Soul Snatched by the Valkyrie Goddess Great Reaction, im hoping you continue your Nightwish journey, youll find that no two songs are the same but all have that Nightwish sound and Floor Jansen is a gift to all us music lovers , she can do it all from classical to growling and EVERYTHING in between.
I'm a big fan of Nightwish and have finally seen them at Antwerp, the start of the European Tour. Amazing show!! They ended the show with "The Greatest Show on Earth" Fantastic!
Lmao I was about to give you hell for liking this as much as you did, but not following up with any other Nightwish stuff, then I saw you did this 2 hours ago. Forgiven. 😃 No, this wasn't the final song on the setlist at Wacken 2013, that was "Last Ride of rhe Day." Floor is Nightwish's 3rd singer, she had been with the band a bit more than 6 months at the time of this concert, it was the first time most of the 80k people in that crowd had heard her sing. It was the first time any of them had heard anyone do that A♭5 she absolutely NUKES at the end, that wasn't a part of the Studio version, she added it in rehearsals when touring South America about 2 months into her tenure. I'm sure Gabriel will be along shortly to give you a good roadmap for where to go next, it's a good map. Welcome to the Nightwish Army.
@@JohnReavesLive 'Romanticide' is the typical follow-up song for reactors, but you could also do this Wacken 2013 concert's set list from start to finish. Its opener "Dark Chest of Wonders" sets the bar so high already. Trust us, this concert is one big masterclass for all musicians, singers, writers and instrumentalists alike. It is truly up there with all the greats.
That was song 13 of 15. After this came ‘ song of myself’ and finally ‘last ride of the day’. Saw Nightwish for the first time live last night. After only a few weeks since her cancer operation she slayed it as did the guys as well. What a show it was.

Sending out some positive vibes for Floor, who is recovering from recent breast cancer surgery. She is reportedly cancer free and will soon be back to crushing all in her path.
This was the 13th of 15 songs of the setlist that night. When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6.1ft.) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song, including some really heavy 'metal growls'. Here are some examples: Misery’s no Crime: th-cam.com/video/SNPesLFTnUg/w-d-xo.html Disdain: th-cam.com/video/tIqzPXzhEuw/w-d-xo.html Wild card: th-cam.com/video/GpZMFALYeGc/w-d-xo.html Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: th-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/w-d-xo.html Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish:. th-cam.com/video/QW_3F186_5Q/w-d-xo.html Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of the presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughter Freja (5 years old), a horse and pony, a dog and a bunch of cats, she found this.
You've got to see more! This is melodic Nightwish. She absolutely can growl or flip between styles, and Nightwish has some pretty heavy songs. Check out some more. They're amazing!
There are not enough video recordings to adequately portray the power of Floor's voice, I saw them live for the first time on Monday at Wembley, I couldn't speak for ten minutes after wards I was just in Awe, this song in particular surprised me Floor's final note has to be heard live to be believed
Nope, they played two more songs after this. "Song Of Myself", which is inspired by a poem from Walt Whitman written in the 19th century and "Last Ride Of The Day" which is the perfect song to end a concert. But the whole f***ing gig is sensational good. Well, i guess, Gabriel will arrive well soon, and he will give you tons of informations about the band and a million-zillion very helfpfull links. He is a hardcore-fan and of course one of a Nightwish-Army-members. If you would like to listen to a little bit more heavier side from Nightwish, i would say "Romanticide" could be an interresting choice. But don't trust me. Take Gabriels hand, and he will guard you on your trip into the rabbithole called Nightwish. A journey worth to do, i think...
Dive down that rabbit hole like I did in early 2020, John. Not only will you NOT regret it, it will surprise and amaze you with each song you hear and see!
Hundreds of reactions later, and it never gets boring watching people discover Nightwish with Floor Jansen.

Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer.
So be prepared. lol "
For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I just posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: th-cam.com/users/gbardaccommunity

Gabriel, I checked your community tab and the list and links aren’t showing up for me.
Those goosebumps you get from hearing Floor sing is called a "Floorgasm".
lol that explains the strange substance all over my stream room!!!! LOL kidding! But I love the name LOL!
@@BTMegadeth fucking crap, Floor is twenty leagues above Tarja.
@@BTMegadeth If you had ears theres no way you would write this.
Oh Floor Jansen can growl, sing pure opera, sing rock, sing metal, sing pop, anything she chooses, and sings them all great. What ever the song needs vocally she can provide. This band has many sounds, all of them great stories and polished to a high gloss. Nightwish is awesome.
Goddess said she won't be singing French rap. 🤣 She did sing some kind of German rap at that one show though.
Floor's vocal range is "yes"
@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 NOBODY should sing French rap. Not even the French.
Her presence alone is unbelievably captivating and heartpumping. And as people say, "singers sing what they can, Floor sings whatever she wants".
Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she
got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power
of her vocals.
Thanks for filling in the backstory. +++++ :PPP
Amen!!!!!
"You have 2 weeks to learn the vocals"
@@guyoverthere2215 May I "slightly" correct you?:
Please learn the setlist in 48 hours !......these are the words Tuomas has spoken........
@@guyoverthere2215 48 hours, not two weeks.
Nightwish is FANTASTIC and Floor is out of this world 😍♥️🎸🎤
Floor stands 6 feet, 1.5 inches tall in bare feet, and she's wearing some pretty tall heels here.....audience was an intimate little gathering of 82,000.....this entire concert is on both DVD and TH-cam, titled "Showtime, Storytime"....this was the 13th song of a 15 song show
The entire concert is superb from start to finish. There are no bad songs.
Great reaction. I love watching people listening to Floor sing for the first time. She is the queen of symphonic metal.
With After Forver perhaps, but nightwish hasn't been metal for a long time now. Epica stomps nightwish into the ground now!
@@NPK476 Are you seriously just here to shit on Nightwish?
Best band I've ever heard. And I'm 76, and have heard most of the greats live.
It's a great concert to watch in full. That was 13 of 15 on the setlist for the night.
1 Dark Chest of Wonders
2 Wish I Had an Angel
3 She Is My Sin
4 Ghost River
5 Ever Dream
6 Storytime
7 I Want My Tears Back
8 Nemo
9 Last of the Wilds
10 Bless the Child
11 Romanticide
12 Amaranth
13 Ghost Love Score 🌟
14 Song of Myself
15 Last Ride of the Day
Can’t go wrong with this concert. Top notch from start to finish!
Dark Chest of Wonders might be the best opening song. Change my mind
"Yours in an Empty Hope" is missing from that list.
Incoming Gabriel. Pay attention when he pops in. He will guide the journey perfectly
It is always entertainig to watch the reprogramming of the listener's brain when they hear "That Note".
Her finishing note is just insane. Gives me goosebumps every time
I used to not give metal bands with frontwomen the time of day. But symphonic metal changed that. Floor Jansen (Nightwish) and Simone Simons (Epica) are the absolute queens if you ask me.
That concert is pure gold
First shot of Nightwish is always amazing. We've all been there. We all know what's coming... except for the one reacting of course. I always end up cackling like a super villain.
Goosebumps upon goosebumps.
Welcome to the LEGION of NIGHTWISH warriors!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Welcome to Nightwish n Lead Vocals of Floor Jansen the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal .
Welcome to the magical world of nightwish best live band on the planet imho keep em coming.
Seeing our Valkyrie Goddess steal another soul never gets old, welcome to the NW army good sir and may your stay be a f'kin rocking one :D
How could you be a metal singer without any knowledge about Nightwish? You are a proper metal singer from now on :)
Glad you’re able to recognize the talent all throughout this band. They are so amazing, and you’ll be amazed the deeper you go!
Our Dutch Valkyre....😉😘
Floor just released her new solo song: INVINCIBLE.
Welcome in the Nightwish-Army! 🫶🏼
There were more than 81000 people at that concert - would have been awesome to be there.
You're absolutely right about the musicians. They are all fantastic, and they play what the song needs. It's not about ego, it's about the music
Nightwish runs in a lane of their own.Roadtrip pack a lot of snacks!!
82,000 people here. Every song in this concert is killer. That was song 13 of 15.
I concur
I've listened to symphonic metal before, NW is unlike anything I've ever heard......each member of the band is a master at what they do....and Floor, well she's the best of the best. It's like I've never heard music before.
Welcome to NIGHTWISH.....best rabbit hole you'll ever enjoy! Stick with them, you won't regret it, Thanks! 🤯👍
Oh, and screw music videos. Nightwish live is where it's at!
See the comment from Gabriel Bardac for more info, and links to a lot of their songs
Recommend you try Romanticide from this same show. It's a heavier song.
She was in the band three months when she did this concert. She still with them... for good reason.
One of my favorite pastimes is watching people discover Nightwish.
You’ll love Romanticide from this same concert.
Saw them live in Amsterdam on Sunday, absolutely phenominal show, A must see live band.
I saw them in Wembley Arena two days ago. This was their second-to-last song. The last song was even longer 😂
I would highly recommend reacting to Romanticide live from this same concert. It's more rockier and you can hear more of her range.
I concur!
What a cool dude you are, a subscription was a no brainer.
You appear to be a warm person, your soul is obvious in your eyes and smile.
Be prepared for an influx of the 'Nightwish Army' John, they are on the way.😊
You will find that Nightwish is so much more than just a band, they are life force taking you on ethereal journeys with each song.
Much love to you and Ukraine

You have been introduced to Nightwish and their amazing singer Floor Jansen. The wacken pronounced with a V as it’s German. She was still a temporary singer with the band 10 months at this point. Try Romanticide from the same concert. Btw that song was third from the end.
THEY FOLLOWED THIS SONG UP!?!?!?! oh my god! lol I must hear what they played after this! it was such an epic song!
@@JohnReavesLive "Song of myself". Really good one too, heavier than GLS. This whole concert is legendary, there are no "bad" songs.
Agreed, Romanticide is heavier and also Marco giving more in it. Holopainen who writes lyrics and is composer of songs if a few exceptions excluded is simply a musical genious and also very nice person. As are all members of Nightwish.
@@tindikukka Holopainan isn’t called the Mozart of metal for no reason. Not to mention who I think is the whimsical heart of the band Emppu.
@@haroldcrown5541 Yeah, Emppu is very cool and great guitarist. All members of the band are top class with their instruments and could play in any top band what comes to their skills.
A big welcome to the Nightwish Universe 👍
This was 10 minutes, that just open a door to Symphonic Metal, the merge of symphony and metal music.
And please stick to these concerts:
Wacken 2013
Wembley 2015
Tampere 2015
Buenos Aires 2018
Hellfest 2022
In this way you can also follow the evolution Nightwish have been going through, since Floor and Troy became permanent members in 2013.
Great song for first exposure to Nightwish. You could pick any of the songs from this set and be amazed each time.
Welcome to your new world of Nightwish. Got a message from a mate yesterday front of stage at a Nightwish gig in England I'm so jealous

No, this wasn't the final song on the setlist at Wacken 2013, that was "Last Ride of rhe Day."
Floor is Nightwish's 3rd singer, she had been with the band a bit more than 6 months at the time of this concert, it was the first time most of the 80k people in that crowd had heard her sing.

Thank you. Maybe more your music, newer show, heavier song. Nightwish "Devil and Deep Dark Ocean" -Buenos Aires live.
I concur!
Sending out some positive vibes for Floor, who is recovering from recent breast cancer surgery. She is reportedly cancer free and will soon be back to crushing all in her path.
My daughter is going to see them next week and she is soooo excited!!! She has been a huge fan of them for a while now.
This was her first concert with the Nightwish. She had 24 hours to learn all the songs.
Here are some of my favourites:

Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). Here is a link to a part of a TV show (with english subtitles) of the reunion of the class of the Rock Academy with mostly backstage footage of the Tampere concert of Nightwish in 2015: th-cam.com/video/B3NIfu0qvtg/w-d-xo.html
'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song, including some really heavy 'metal growls'. Here are some examples:
Misery’s no Crime: th-cam.com/video/SNPesLFTnUg/w-d-xo.html
Disdain: th-cam.com/video/tIqzPXzhEuw/w-d-xo.html
Wild card: th-cam.com/video/GpZMFALYeGc/w-d-xo.html
Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: th-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/w-d-xo.html
Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see:: th-cam.com/video/bAiPeSsqD-4/w-d-xo.html
A suggestion to a christmas song sung by Floor. Here is a link to a performance in Finland with a special guest with the best seat you could imagine: th-cam.com/video/ym1Wc5dmUYc/w-d-xo.html
Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on TH-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa:, th-cam.com/video/QqdvFPBGN0c/w-d-xo.html
and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini: th-cam.com/video/UeTyAZtV5wI/w-d-xo.html
As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered TH-cam in the last year. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish:. th-cam.com/video/QW_3F186_5Q/w-d-xo.html
Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious.
I concur.
Yes! Greetings from Nightwish Army, Håkansåker Irregulars, Helsinki, Finland!
Same face as me when i discovered them 10 years ago. 3 singers later and IT keeps goingm Floor is so amazing
Hey! I was there, too! I was in awe as well.. and then I got the set list, so that was the icing on the cake.
Nightwish are the background music of my life. I love every song of theirs ❤, no matter who was the singer at the time.
