You do these "commercial" sections of your videos VERY well. This is the second time I actually got caught up in the sponsored section. The first time that happened, I watched the whole segment....and then realized how long I had just watched an advertisement. You got me, sis! This second time, just now, I watched probably half before I realized.....what am I doing, I can click right to the movie! lol Your sponsors should definitely be happy because I swear, I can't remember that EVER happening in my life. Ads and commercials = mute button! You make it personal and sincere and conversational and you segueway smoothly from your intro to the ad.....it's a good magic trick! :)

context is everything. . . this movie was really big when it came out. It was long considered Sandler's best movie and earned him a lot of cred. Also important was that the movie really served as the first big launching point of 80's nostalgia as 80s kids began entering their thirties.

Punch Drunk Love came out just a few years later, so I'm not sure how long this could have been considered his best movie. But it's great, and even just a step towards rom-com territory was showing range for Sandler at the time.

Hey Shannelle, the most interesting actor/actress in this film is potentially the Boy George impersonator played by Alexis Arquette. He was originally born as Robert Arquette but later legally changed her name to Alexis. Yeah, of those Arquettes, as in Rosanna, Patricia, and David. He was the Jerry Seinfeld guy that burst out of the side room and shot at Vincent and Jules without landing a single shot in Pulp Fiction. She died of complications related to HIV at the age of 47. It's a story worth looking into. And I don't mean to offend anybody with my use of pronouns, I am only using the ones that the person adopted during those periods in their life.

This is my absolute favourite Sandler movie and has been since it came out. Drew Barrymore is just so endearing and their chemistry is off the chart. It was also turned into a great Broadway musical (that confirms that it is set in Ridgefield, New Jersey)!

Thanks for reacting to this. The Wedding Singer is my favorite rom com of all time. Drew Barrymore was my teenage celebrity crush back in the early 2000’s, and the only reason I watched it for the first time was because she was in it, nothing against Adam Sandler. It also introduced me to ‘80’s nostalgia before it was even a thing.

One of my favorite Sandler movies. I mean it takes place in the 1980’s! Great look, great soundtrack. Love Adam and Drew together. Everyone is funny, even the side characters. Lots of subtle humor all over the place. Just makes me smile overall. It hits even more on the big screen with the colors and the music in surround sound. Was a great theater movie believe it or not!
I’m starting to realize that “Love My Way” by The Psychedelic Furs is truly one of the greatest 80’s songs. I think there’s 2 scenes that they use that song. Brings an emotion out of me every time I hear it.

The Wedding Singer was also turned into a Broadway musical with comedy musician Stephen Lynch in the Robbie Hart role. While the musical doesn't use the pop songs from the soundtrack, it's original songs that move the plot forward are pastiches of pop songs of the era. That said "Somebody Kill Me" and "Grow Old With You", the songs Sandler wrote for the film, are in the musical in expanded forms.
Also, the musical version is set where you thought the movie was: New Jersey.

She died in 2016 at the age of only 47 as a result of complications from AIDS.
