Hi Leila, An interesting and unique lesson about"British slang phrases and expressions". I sincerely admire your efforts. With your lesson I learned lots of new slang phrases expressions and their exact meaning. Thanks and regards.
I learned a lot of British slang from, I can't remember his name, I think it was Andy something, he was a decorated British special forces commando who was a POW in Iraq. He's a smashing good writer, and his book is called Bravo Two Zero. You should read it, if you haven't already, it's a great read, you can't put it down. They made a movie of it, however, I didn't get to see it. I've also learned British slang from Newkirk in Hogan's Heroes and from the Beatles, and from British TV shows like The Saint
Great lesson.. love your content.. and love this Sensations English website. What a great tool to learn. Will really help me stay motivated and some of the videos are really fun and interesting. The games v good too. I will definately be subscribing to it. Thank you x
This video is spectacular. Though it has been watched twice by me, yet I desire to watch it again and again. Your method of explaining is marvellous. Things have entered penetrated in my brain easily and deeply. I am really thankful to you for this. It's really wonderful. I am addicted to your videos and I can't help watching these. No matter how busy I am but I take off some time and watch these. I get to learn abundant of things from here. I ought to appreciate your knowledge. Sooner or later I am gonna emulate you.
"Cobblers" can also be considered rude, if you know the background. It's cockney rhyming slang from "Cobbler's awls" - the thing cobblers use to make holes in leather. I'll let you work out what "Cobbler's awls" rhymes with!
What a great lesson. I'll share it with all my colleagues. At least it isn't the 3426 video where you learn "Bob's your uncle". Only advanced voc (I knew some of them by watching Only Fools and Horses"). Question if I may ... In "The thin blue line", "Pear shape" is referred as "London" like expression, is that true?
Hi Leila is very good to start the week watching your video You're an amazing teacher and your voice is beautiful. Thanks for another great video Have a great week you and Sabrah 😉🇧🇷 take care
It would be great if you read sentences of a dialogue or a text and let us repeat after you. There are videos like that in american accent but there is no in british
Actually,This channel is off the chain,,, you bring me around a lot Coz I'm virtually in advanced level words,, I have passed my standard English,, I just need to master slangs, pharases, idioms and other stuff around me
Sabrah you're just awesome!!! Thank you sooooo much!! Could you please make another video for the 100 most important British expressions? I appreciate if you make a video about the essential language for the UK recently arrived non native speakers? Please make also a video on London accent!! Thanks in advannce!!

@@LoveEnglishUK Your lessons are so cool, and so are you dear, no less..👍😘 Only glitch is, there is hardly anybody in here who can understand the slang I learnt from you... 😀😀👍❤️ Good luck dear, and I believe you will be rewarded with a great holiday at the end of this year for the service you render to all of us around the globe... Take care, be safe and stay blessed!! 🙏🙏❤️❤️
The british slang word I want to share with you is the verb to whinge. It means to complain, especially about something that does not seem important. Now some fresh examples for you all: 1. Oh stop whinging, for heaven's sake! 2. She's always whinging (on) about something. 3. She had nothing to whinge about. 4. You whine and whinge and think of no one but yourself. 5. I am not going to whinge that the weather in Scotland is always colder than in England. Love you all
Here's an example of things going pear-shaped... A couple of years ago, my mum watched a video where someone took an apple and carved it to the point where it looked like a swan. She tried to recreate that, but instead of making it look like a swan, she ended up making it look like the Loch Ness Monster with an erect penis. And how pear-shaped is that? So pear-shaped that it's one of my favorite memories.
Any one can help me in British language please. I have a good job i don't wanna lose basically this is customer services. So sometimes its hard to understand
I actually want to improve my speaking and writing through your channel I dont have enough money to spend on app I barely have a phone of my own please let me know if u can help me through my journey to english please
'Cocky' has nothing to do do with the male member. It comes from the cock or male chicken who struts around the farmyard as if he owns the place. 'Knackered' can also mean something is broken, maybe beyond repair. "I've got to take the car to the garage it's knackered"
To lord it over someone , to take the much key or take the piss , to skive off , to do a runner , to nick sth. Arrested by police , to make a dog’s dinner to make a big mistake , piss-up , can’t organize a piss-up in a brewery , a bodge job , a cock up ,to be pants , be a piece of cake , to be a faff , to take the biscuit , Sod’s law - it will go wrong , to go pear- shaped , bog - stand , to be a pickle , to be jammy git - to be lucky , to grass someone up - to dob Someone in
Another phrase is when someone is a ‘turn-off’. As when someone just has to include political commentary on a country that’s not her own in her TH-cam lessons.
I enjoy your vids. However, i wonder if Brits think that Americans only use words of three or less letters. We are aware of all of these. Not to lord that over you🤣. However, here, to be pissed means angry.
