you can tell hayley still has a deep sadness inside of her just from this interview. from the very early ages of paramore i always got the vibe that zac & taylor were best friends while hayley and jeremy always leaned on each other. the first time jeremy got kicked out of the band hayley was the one to convince them to let him rejoin in the first place. i read in the new york times interview that came out yesterday that jeremy's lawyer stated that jeremy didn't "leave" the band - which makes me think something REALLY bad happened that ended w him being kicked out. hence why there seems to be a lot of bad blood and this whole lawsuit thing. it's really unfortunate because hayley has gotten so much flack over the years when really she is one of the most genuine artists in the music industry. and now everything with jeremy seems to really have taken a toll on her and it's super sad to watch. i remember how excited she seemed when the self titled came out but in this interview she just seems very... quite and uncertain? also. 2017 is the year of taylor york. i am so fucking glad that man is finally getting recognition for everything he has done. not only is he a musical genius, but he's the reason this band continues to do what they do and put out the best records. can't wait to see what this new album has in store and i hope that hayley finds her voice again
i know this is so complicated... It's something really hard because in one hand you got a band and in the other you got you're friends, and you have to keep the balance between both and make sure that one of them doesn't fall.
I am a musician. I'm 24 now and Paramore has been my favorite band since I was 14... my parents had just separated, I just moved from Long Beach, CA to Las Vegas.... and expressing my complicated emotions made me feel weak & whiny. Haley had heart, was confident, emotional and FIERCE. Her vulnerability showed me a lot. Showed me it was okay to be HUMAN. I'm grown now, I have my own voice... I know how to love AND fight for what I hold dear...I have to say Paramore was instrumental in teaching me that.
I think it's telling that she mentioned that lately she has been dealing with anxiety and something like depression. I think the situation with Jeremy (and other real life problems) really had a large effect on her. There's a reason why it was Taylor that kept the band going because Hayley even said she was ready to give up. It really makes me sad because I'm just not used to Hayley being vulnerable in this way. I hope with this album she's able to sort of purge herself of whatever demons she has at the moment, and I'm really thankful she has Taylor and Zac to help her. I think this next era of Paramore will be really interesting.
But at the end of the day we're not psychologists, and analyzing their every move is not going to help anyone. The thing I love most about Paramore is their growth and change.
I teared up watching this. When Zac talked about his dreams of Paramore calling him because they needed him it made me tear up that his dreams became a reality and it all came full circle. With every album and interview Paramore does, I feel like I fall in deeper love with them not just as a band but as people that have their issues and go through hard times. Thank you for such an amazing and long interview (I wish all interviews were like this) can't wait for the next part. I'm so proud of Paramore and I'm super pumped for the album.
HeyYouLaLa125 Also Zac was only 20 years old when he left Paramore. He probably left mostly because of his brother leaving (I could be wrong though. It was made perfectly clear why Josh left but I can never find anything about Zac leaving.) Awesome to have him back behind the kit.
I swear to god, every time hayley starts talking about how much taylor's support means to her i start crying. I love their friendship so much because they've been through so much together but they could always rely on each other. I think you can see that they truly have a special bond.
Taylor and Hayley essentially saying that "Ain't It Fun" is the song that kept the band rolling during Self-Titled era reminds me of FOB saying that "Where Did The Party Go" was the song that saved the band... That should show that they were never intending to sell out and be radio pop superstars.. they only wanted to recapture the fun of making records with your friends, and it took those songs totally outside their comfort zone to bring them around. The upbeat sound isn't a departure, and it isn't a sell out, it's a battle cry.
Zoey Ann Oh gosh, I'm not even sure anymore. They said it ages ago, during the promo for Save Rock & Roll. They talked about how they were trying to write and nothing was coming together, until they started that song.
I really hope Hayley is ok. She's such an amazing artist and creator, and I want her to appreciate herself and what she's done like all Paramore fans do. She deserves to be happy.

It's pretty clear Hayley is not over some things (maybe Jeremy leaving and all that suing shit). You can see it in her face, and if you compare to when they released Self-Titled it becomes more clear. Her excitement about the album and the new songs was so visible.

Deenadearlova Putri Daryani It is very complicated but after Jeremy left, he sued Hayley, Taylor, label and people involved in recording the self-titled, because he wasn't properly paid for participating in the writing of the lyrics (thing is, Jeremy didn't write anything apart from the interlude Holiday -if I'm not mistaken- he stated so during interviews.) He also wanted to be paid for other stuff, even though he wasn't in the band anymore. Before he sued Hayley, Hayley had already started a process, just in case he sued her... It's complicated and I'm sure I didn't explain it very well, but you can find it online. Jeremy said Hayley stabbed him in the back...it was painful for the fans, so I can't imagine how Hayley and Taylor dealt with it.
Part 2 is coming out May 12th when the album comes out because they're going to be going in depth of the album track by track and they don't want to spoil it.
I play drums, I started to listen to Paramore back in 2009 because Zac was so awesome I became a huge fan because of Zac, when he left I was really disappointed. To see him back it's overwhelming

Watching this interview reminded me of why Paramore is my favorite band an why I will probably always love them. Hard Times is a great song and I'm really looking forward to After Laughter!

How can you not tear up from watching such a raw interview with these three beautiful humans. I don't know why I'm so attached to this band. I think its because I spent the last 10 years of my life listening to their music which helped me get through some of the hardest seasons in my life. I'm now 28 and I turn into that teenage girl all over again. Like when I heard Misery Business for the first time on the radio. Thank you Paramore for continuing to make beautiful music in the midst of so much sorrow. I am forever grateful.
The day will come when I'm middle aged and Josh, Zac, Hayley, Taylor, and Jeremy put their past behind them and pair up for a "Paraunion". I would tear off my ears and offer it to the gods if they'd let me hear Josh and Taylor's rhythmic strings, Jeremy's boasting bass, Zac's earth-shaking percussions, and Hayley's powerful vocals altogether once again. Alas here's to hoping we all live long enough to find out when.
It's honestly been so long since I've listened to Paramore. The last time I really listened to them and bought their stuff was when Brand New Eyes came out. After all the drama happened with Josh & Zac leaving, I legit thought they wouldn't last another year or so. It wasn't until I saw someone praising their new song (Hard Times) that I decided to give them a listen again. I'm so glad I did. Hopefully this is an amazing era for them. They deserve it.
Paramore will always have my heart, they're one of my first real memories of music, i try not to be nostalgic because there's so much new music and so many new artists to listen too but ill always come back to paramore
For the longest time Taylor has always been my favorite because of how soft spoken he is and I do not regret that decision at all. I love Taylor so so much. I love this band so so much. I'm so happy.
Hayley has faced so much sexism and bullshit in this industry and it kills me to see how visibly it's taken a toll. A male lead singer would never get called a 'diva' or a 'bitch', especially when she's clearly tried very hard to keep this thing a band. The point Zane made about how if she wanted to be a solo artist she could easily have done that in 2010, that's very important for people to realize. And staying a band has meant a lot of personal hurt for her. Depression is like a black, cloudy, 1000lb weight around your neck and carrying it around is very exhausting. I just hope this album and tour go well, and that they can finally catch a break, drama-wise. Hayley is absurdly talented, and clearly a good person who cares about her friends and her music. She deserves to be happy, and to have fun in what she does. I'm grateful for Taylor for being such a loyal, stand-up guy. She clearly needed support and he's the only one who's never turned his back. I can already tell how the music he wrote for this album is going to take Paramore in a new, exciting direction. He's been truly instrumental in keeping this band good and keeping some fun alive in the process. Also, I'm glad Josh has apologized. I understand he was young, but that blog post was so petty, bitter, and frankly sexist it baffles me to this day. And it's played a big part in all the bullshit (still does). Too bad you can't unring the bell huh. Anyways, excelent interview all around. Hope they can have some damn fun, finally! We the fans always do, it's only fair they should also enjoy themselves for a change. And I hope Hayley is getting the treatment she needs. Mental health is no joke.

Male frontmen have definitely been considered divas or egomaniacs, Black Francis from the Pixies, the lead singer from Kings of Leon, Morrisey from The Smiths, John Lennon, and the brothers from Oasis.

I loved this interview so much, it gave us a much needed insight on their lives for the past three or so years, and how Zac and Taylor feel about the album. they're both usually quiet on social media and I think people forget how involved they are in the band. I love that it just feels like such a cohesive unit as a band now. Like it all makes sense and everything fits right into place without feeling forced ❤ Zane was brilliant by the way, he talked to them in such a way that it elicited deep feelings but it never felt awkward and it had the right amount of humour too ❤❤❤
At some point, I also have gotten to the thought which Hayley was so tired of everything, more precisely when Jerm sued the band. Since the bad blood, I think their bonds are getting emotional as Hayley also seemed unhealthy mentally. This interview proves it all and I'm glad that this comeback is much better. People out there tend to judge this band is "Hayley-centered" while what they're heading to right now is the even portion of the whole band members. I'm so happy that Taylor saved the band from split and Zac for coming back!

God knew what he was doing. He kept Taylor to be the glue the band and to help keep the passion alive in Hayley. And we all know she is a sensitive bug, and she never was selfish, she always wants to make sure everyone else was happy around her. Friendship like these will always last a lifetime.
I'm happy things are getting rebuilt but you can tell how losing all these band members completely destroyed her. It's said cause Zane is right if she wanted to go solo she definitely could have... and yet she didn't. No one knows the true ins and outs of what happened except them but you can tell how much that broke her and still effects her. This album is so eye opening to where she was and is mentally. All her recent interviews too. I wish the rest of the old members see what Taylor sees. And thank god for him because I don't know where she would be without him.

I would've never knew or heard about Paramore if not for After Laughter, i know im really late cause when Paramore started which was 2003, that was the year i was born too so obviously i didnt know about anything. But when i heard about After Laughter i became an really huge fan of Paramore. After listening to After Laughter and Petals For Armor, i immediately backtracked every song they made. Ngl Ive never loved so much songs, cause back then i only use to love 1 song but after hearing Paramore's i love every single one of them. So if After Laughter was never created and if Taylor didnt singlehandedly saved the band. I wouldve never discovered such an amazing band. So Taylor, thank you so much for saving this band. Taylor is such an awesome and supportive friend too, he was there for Hayley in every step of her way. People like that are so rare and i need those kind of people in my life.
I love how Hayley don't even wanted to be like the star of the band or the front member, she wanted to be the drummer or guitarist of the band that the Farros had before they name it Paramore and when she got pressured by her manager on pursuing her own solo career, she rather stayed with the band/brothers and making great music with them. I bet she really love the band and the brothers so much that she don't want to leave them Zac felt really guilty that he left in 2010 with Josh, but he is brother to Josh at first. After seeing and hearing this I don't think I could love Taylor York or this band anymore than I do now. I'm literally in tears after watching this. This band and the music they make has been a huge part of my life and deeply rooted in my soul. I've had the great honor to have met and hung out with the past and present members of this band a lot of times. I can't think of my world ever being the same without Paramore in it. So the fact that the band at one point was going to be over hurt me to hear. But I am forever grateful for Taylor for saving the band and just being an amazing human and friend. Then to hear Zac talk about coming back to the band and what lead to that bought on more tears for me. I'm one of the few people who can say I knew and loved this band before their fast album ever came out. I've grown up on and with the present and past members of Paramore, and they have been there for me in my happiest and worst times. Whether it was through the music or through something they said to me personally they've been a big part of my life since I was 15. I'm just very happy to see and hear the love they still have for music, the band, and each other. I'm selfishly waiting for the day that Paramore is Hayley, Josh, Zac, Jeremy, and Josh again. But I'm also very sure that that probably won't happen. To me no matter who is officially in the band those 5 people will always be Paramore. I'm so excited to hear this album and see them live, and see what awesome things they're going to do in the future.
I hate to say this, but there's a certain sadness and lack of energy in Hayley now, combined with her tweets, that makes me think this could be the last album and tour for Paramore. Of course if this release and tour all goes amazingly well, who knows?

hmmm idk, i think she's still going through some stuff emotionally with jeremy leaving and all and i think that writing and making music probably makes her feel at least a little better. so i dont know if it will be the last album, i know what helps me when im depressed is working and being productive so maybe that's how it is for her too.
This is why we need to show them a lot of love with this album and tour. They've been through a lot, it must be so emotionally exhausting. I really hope it won't be the last album but if it is by some chance, lets let Paramore go out with a bang and make it memorable!
It's such an in depth interview and it's bringing out a lot in them taking about stuff they don't usually share, they're also older now, the whole band is different now from self titled, this is them letting go of everything that has tried to drag them down, and now it seems they're ready to embrace absolutely everything
Been a fan since 2008, when I was 8, now I'm 16 and my music taste has changed completely but in my mind I know paramore will always be that band that I cant stop listening to, will forever be my favourite band regardless the music they make.
One of the many reasons why I like this interview specifically is that, Zane asks thought provoking questions. It seems that a few questions he asked had them wonder about things in a new perspective. Such as when he suggested Hayley's anxiety might've been present three years ago, just masked. It's refreshing seeing how well each of them take into account what the other one says. It also shows depth in the conversation having each person share their insight vs getting questions and answers done in a timed limit. I'm looking forward to more great content in part 2 and hearing the stories behind each song on their album!
This interview gave so much more of what and how Hayley, Taylor, Zac felt during those transitions. Everyone's moved on (trying?) but this gives so much light. They went from bubbly kids making music to musicians who's just trying to adult. Hayley's clearly tired of all the drama of losing relationships. Paramore is still paramore bc atleast someone is still trying.

i know this is so complicated... It's something really hard because in one hand you got a band and in the other you got you're friends, and you have to keep the balance between both and make sure that one of them doesn't fall.

I am a musician. I'm 24 now and Paramore has been my favorite band since I was 14... my parents had just separated, I just moved from Long Beach, CA to Las Vegas.... and expressing my complicated emotions made me feel weak & whiny. Haley had heart, was confident, emotional and FIERCE. Her vulnerability showed me a lot. Showed me it was okay to be HUMAN.
I'm grown now, I have my own voice... I know how to love AND fight for what I hold dear...I have to say Paramore was instrumental in teaching me that.
I think it's telling that she mentioned that lately she has been dealing with anxiety and something like depression. I think the situation with Jeremy (and other real life problems) really had a large effect on her. There's a reason why it was Taylor that kept the band going because Hayley even said she was ready to give up. It really makes me sad because I'm just not used to Hayley being vulnerable in this way. I hope with this album she's able to sort of purge herself of whatever demons she has at the moment, and I'm really thankful she has Taylor and Zac to help her. I think this next era of Paramore will be really interesting.
But at the end of the day we're not psychologists, and analyzing their every move is not going to help anyone. The thing I love most about Paramore is their growth and change.
I teared up watching this. When Zac talked about his dreams of Paramore calling him because they needed him it made me tear up that his dreams became a reality and it all came full circle. With every album and interview Paramore does, I feel like I fall in deeper love with them not just as a band but as people that have their issues and go through hard times.
Thank you for such an amazing and long interview (I wish all interviews were like this) can't wait for the next part.

Taylor and Hayley essentially saying that "Ain't It Fun" is the song that kept the band rolling during Self-Titled era reminds me of FOB saying that "Where Did The Party Go" was the song that saved the band... That should show that they were never intending to sell out and be radio pop superstars.. they only wanted to recapture the fun of making records with your friends, and it took those songs totally outside their comfort zone to bring them around. The upbeat sound isn't a departure, and it isn't a sell out, it's a battle cry.

It's pretty clear Hayley is not over some things (maybe Jeremy leaving and all that suing shit). You can see it in her face, and if you compare to when they released Self-Titled it becomes more clear. Her excitement about the album and the new songs was so visible.

Deenadearlova Putri Daryani It is very complicated but after Jeremy left, he sued Hayley, Taylor, label and people involved in recording the self-titled, because he wasn't properly paid for participating in the writing of the lyrics (thing is, Jeremy didn't write anything apart from the interlude Holiday -if I'm not mistaken- he stated so during interviews.) He also wanted to be paid for other stuff, even though he wasn't in the band anymore. Before he sued Hayley, Hayley had already started a process, just in case he sued her... It's complicated and I'm sure I didn't explain it very well, but you can find it online. Jeremy said Hayley stabbed him in the back...it was painful for the fans, so I can't imagine how Hayley and Taylor dealt with it.
Part 2 is coming out May 12th when the album comes out because they're going to be going in depth of the album track by track and they don't want to spoil it.

Thank God for Taylor, he really saved this band! Hayley is awesome as always. This interview was great and I appreciate the honesty. Watching this interview reminded me of why Paramore is my favorite band an why I will probably always love them. Hard Times is a great song and I'm really looking forward to After Laughter!

How can you not tear up from watching such a raw interview with these three beautiful humans. I don't know why I'm so attached to this band. I think its because I spent the last 10 years of my life listening to their music which helped me get through some of the hardest seasons in my life. I'm now 28 and I turn into that teenage girl all over again. Like when I heard Misery Business for the first time on the radio. Thank you Paramore for continuing to make beautiful music in the midst of so much sorrow. I am forever grateful.
The day will come when I'm middle aged and Josh, Zac, Hayley, Taylor, and Jeremy put their past behind them and pair up for a "Paraunion".
I would tear off my ears and offer it to the gods if they'd let me hear Josh and Taylor's rhythmic strings, Jeremy's boasting bass, Zac's earth-shaking percussions, and Hayley's powerful vocals altogether once again. Alas here's to hoping we all live long enough to find out when.

It's honestly been so long since I've listened to Paramore. The last time I really listened to them and bought their stuff was when Brand New Eyes came out. After all the drama happened with Josh & Zac leaving, I legit thought they wouldn't last another year or so. It wasn't until I saw someone praising their new song (Hard Times) that I decided to give them a listen again. I'm so glad I did. Hopefully this is an amazing era for them. They deserve it.

For the longest time Taylor has always been my favorite because of how soft spoken he is and I do not regret that decision at all. I love Taylor so so much. I love this band so so much. I'm so happy.
Hayley has faced so much sexism and bullshit in this industry and it kills me to see how visibly it's taken a toll. A male lead singer would never get called a 'diva' or a 'bitch', especially when she's clearly tried very hard to keep this thing a band. The point Zane made about how if she wanted to be a solo artist she could easily have done that in 2010, that's very important for people to realize. And staying a band has meant a lot of personal hurt for her. Depression is like a black, cloudy, 1000lb weight around your neck and carrying it around is very exhausting. I just hope this album and tour go well, and that they can finally catch a break, drama-wise. Hayley is absurdly talented, and clearly a good person who cares about her friends and her music. She deserves to be happy, and to have fun in what she does. I'm grateful for Taylor for being such a loyal, stand-up guy. She clearly needed support and he's the only one who's never turned his back. I can already tell how the music he wrote for this album is going to take Paramore in a new, exciting direction. He's been truly instrumental in keeping this band good and keeping some fun alive in the process.
Also, I'm glad Josh has apologized. I understand he was young, but that blog post was so petty, bitter, and frankly sexist it baffles me to this day. And it's played a big part in all the bullshit (still does). Too bad you can't unring the bell huh.

I loved this interview so much, it gave us a much needed insight on their lives for the past three or so years, and how Zac and Taylor feel about the album. they're both usually quiet on social media and I think people forget how involved they are in the band. I love that it just feels like such a cohesive unit as a band now. Like it all makes sense and everything fits right into place without feeling forced ❤ Zane was brilliant by the way, he talked to them in such a way that it elicited deep feelings but it never felt awkward and it had the right amount of humour too ❤❤❤
At some point, I also have gotten to the thought which Hayley was so tired of everything, more precisely when Jerm sued the band. Since the bad blood, I think their bonds are getting emotional as Hayley also seemed unhealthy mentally. This interview proves it all and I'm glad that this comeback is much better. People out there tend to judge this band is "Hayley-centered" while what they're heading to right now is the even portion of the whole band members. I'm so happy that Taylor saved the band from split and Zac for coming back!

God knew what he was doing. He kept Taylor to be the glue the band and to help keep the passion alive in Hayley. And we all know she is a sensitive bug, and she never was selfish, she always wants to make sure everyone else was happy around her. Friendship like these will always last a lifetime.
I'm happy things are getting rebuilt but you can tell how losing all these band members completely destroyed her. It's said cause Zane is right if she wanted to go solo she definitely could have... and yet she didn't. No one knows the true ins and outs of what happened except them but you can tell how much that broke her and still effects her. This album is so eye opening to where she was and is mentally. All her recent interviews too. I wish the rest of the old members see what Taylor sees. And thank god for him because I don't know where she would be without him.

I would've never knew or heard about Paramore if not for After Laughter, i know im really late cause when Paramore started which was 2003, that was the year i was born too so obviously i didnt know about anything. But when i heard about After Laughter i became an really huge fan of Paramore. After listening to After Laughter and Petals For Armor, i immediately backtracked every song they made. Ngl Ive never loved so much songs, cause back then i only use to love 1 song but after hearing Paramore's i love every single one of them. So if After Laughter was never created and if Taylor didnt singlehandedly saved the band. I wouldve never discovered such an amazing band. So Taylor, thank you so much for saving this band.

I love how Hayley don't even wanted to be like the star of the band or the front member, she wanted to be the drummer or guitarist of the band that the Farros had before they name it Paramore and when she got pressured by her manager on pursuing her own solo career, she rather stayed with the band/brothers and making great music with them. And damn, what a host.. asking just the right questions (albeit personal) I got to hear just what I was curious about. Love how relatable and understanding he is. I was actually really touched by this video being a big Paramore fan when the Farro bros where still in. Also, can't believe Zac returned.. didn't know this till now.

After seeing and hearing this I don't think I could love Taylor York or this band anymore than I do now. I'm literally in tears after watching this. This band and the music they make has been a huge part of my life and deeply rooted in my soul. I've had the great honor to have met and hung out with the past and present members of this band a lot of times. I can't think of my world ever being the same without Paramore in it. So the fact that the band at one point was going to be over hurt me to hear. But I am forever grateful for Taylor for saving the band and just being an amazing human and friend. Then to hear Zac talk about coming back to the band and what lead to that bought on more tears for me. I'm one of the few people who can say I knew and loved this band before their fast album ever came out. I've grown up on and with the present and past members of Paramore, and they have been there for me in my happiest and worst times. Whether it was through the music or through something they said to me personally they've been a big part of my life since I was 15. I'm just very happy to see and hear the love they still have for music, the band, and each other. I'm selfishly waiting for the day that Paramore is Hayley, Josh, Zac, Jeremy, and Josh again. But I'm also very sure that that probably won't happen. To me no matter who is officially in the band those 5 people will always be Paramore. I'm so excited to hear this album and see them live, and see what awesome things they're going to do in the future.
I hate to say this, but there's a certain sadness and lack of energy in Hayley now, combined with her tweets, that makes me think this could be the last album and tour for Paramore. Of course if this release and tour all goes amazingly well, who knows?

hmmm idk, i think she's still going through some stuff emotionally with jeremy leaving and all and i think that writing and making music probably makes her feel at least a little better. so i dont know if it will be the last album, i know what helps me when im depressed is working and being productive so maybe that's how it is for her too.
This is why we need to show them a lot of love with this album and tour. They've been through a lot, it must be so emotionally exhausting. I really hope it won't be the last album but if it is by some chance, lets let Paramore go out with a bang and make it memorable!

It's such an in depth interview and it's bringing out a lot in them taking about stuff they don't usually share, they're also older now, the whole band is different now from self titled, this is them letting go of everything that has tried to drag them down, and now it seems they're ready to embrace absolutely everything

Been a fan since 2008, when I was 8, now I'm 16 and my music taste has changed completely but in my mind I know paramore will always be that band that I cant stop listening to, will forever be my favourite band regardless the music they make.
One of the many reasons why I like this interview specifically is that, Zane asks thought provoking questions. It seems that a few questions he asked had them wonder about things in a new perspective. Such as when he suggested Hayley's anxiety might've been present three years ago, just masked. It's refreshing seeing how well each of them take into account what the other one says. It also shows depth in the conversation having each person share their insight vs getting questions and answers done in a timed limit. I'm looking forward to more great content in part 2 and hearing the stories behind each song on their album!

This interview gave so much more of what and how Hayley, Taylor, Zac felt during those transitions. Everyone's moved on (trying?) but this gives so much light. They went from bubbly kids making music to musicians who's just trying to adult. Hayley's clearly tired of all the drama of losing relationships. Paramore is still paramore bc atleast someone is still trying.
