The director is/was the lead singer. Just a fun fact. :P He uses a different name, but you can search it up - he usually (if not always) directs his own music videos.

Jared Leto described the meaning of the song as, "It's really about a relationship with yourself. It's about confronting your fear and confronting the truth about who you are." He has also said it is about "confrontation as a crossroads" - coming face-to-face with who you really are .... and u r right the concept is from the movie

I need to see The Shining. I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey for the first time a few years ago and it blew me away. The cinematography and the use of colour is outstanding. I am told The Shining is also visually iconic.
+Nettle It is a pretty terrible adaptation of the book, but taken as a MOVIE and ignoring the source material, it is incredible. Stanley Kubrick's sheer attention to detail was genius, no matter what a terrible person he may have been otherwise. You will likely enjoy the movie quite a bit! Love me some Stephen King =D . Out of all of the film adaptations of his books, _The Shining_ is probably my favorite. After that, it's the miniseries version of _The Stand_.

That's the first thing to check. a LOT of copyright holders set it so that their videos do not play on mobile devices. Make that the first thing to check if it will not play on a mobile device- it'll have to be on an actual computer of some kind. Hope you enjoy when you can watch it tho!

I like Massive Attack's Karmacoma, it had a homage to The Shining, but it's very strange, so a lot of people don't like it.
My favourite Massive Attack songs of all time would be either Teardrop, Dissolved Girl or Black Milk or Black Melt, as the new version is called.
Not on my recommend to react to list though sadly, as I believe they're very serious about copyright, but definitely worth a listen or watch on your own time.
+Masquerade as Sane Black Milk was a little controversial as one of the band members used a copyrighted sample, so Black Melt used completely new music over the original vocals performed in the song.
