I have to say thank you so much for your video. I thought we were going to have to replace our washer but after watching your video I bought new dogs for $6 and fixed it myself! Thank you for taking the time to make that video. Saved our family a lot of money!

I can't tell you how happy I am that I came across your video. You saved me a lot of pain and aggravation, not to mention a lot of money! Thank you for posting a video that was perfectly filmed, perfectly clear, and solved a problem that I'm sure a lot of us would have called a repair person to do.

I wanted to leave you a glowing comment and say all the things about how much I appreciate your video but there's a bunch of people that have usurped the things I would have said. So, I will focus on you instead. As I watched the video I was commenting to my wife on how natural you were and how you come across on the screen. Watching you fix the machine was like looking over a favorite uncle's shoulder. Great job, great video. Thanks for spending your time and talent to help us and prevent needless expenses. Well done.

01/02/2015, I want to say "thank you"; I watched your video, went and bought the $8 parts, installed them and it is working GREAT. My wife had ALMOST convinced me we had to buy a new washing machine with our tax return money. I'm sure she'll find another use for those funds... LOL. Thanks again.

Danielle Holmes more n likely you would have to either use a bit of very strong glue remover like, paint thinner or stronger, or, access through the bottom, which is not as easy

Came home from work and my wife had a problem with the washing machine. Found your video and went to work. It was a little tough to get it apart (it was all gunked up) but it worked just like you said. It was late on a Saturday and the appliance parts store was closed, so I took my Dremel an cut some teeth into the dogs, and it works like a charm. Great how-to video!

This happened to me the other day. I almost called the hubby to do a service check, or worse, buy a new washer. I couldnt find anything that explained how to troubleshoot in a manner I would understand(most were just saying check this or that but didnt say HOW). Then I found your video. Thank you for this instructional video Weezie. I was doing laundry this afternoon when I noticed the agitator wasn't working on the machine. I immediately went online to research possible causes where I came upon your video. What I ended doing in the interim was re-grooving the 'dogs' with an exacto knife, something I would NOT recommend anybody do unless you have a very steady hand, while we placed the order for the 'agitator dogs' online. The agitator is working okay but will replace it still.

Thanks for video. The agitator in my 25+ year old washer was broken for awhile now, so I thought I’d give TH-cam a try to see if I could find a fix (worked for me a few years back when my dryer belt broke). Your diagnosis for broken dogs matched what I was encountering and it looked like your washer was identical to mine, so I thought I’d be off to the races. Sure enough, the dogs in my washer were completely shattered and only cost $6 dollars to replace.
The assembly was somewhat the same, at least to start -- same cap over the nut, and 7/16 inch socket to loosen. But a bit more complicated in that I had to pull both lower and upper parts of the agitator out to fix things, and there was no collar to hold the new dogs in place. I would have used a bit of Play-Doh to hold the dogs until I reassembled upper and lower pieces back together, but didn’t have any on hand, so used small bits
of masking tape instead. With a bit of agitation, I figure they’ll quickly disappear in the wash. Anyway, all’s well again … maybe for the next 25 years.
    Thanks again for sharing.

Thank you, brother. I just fixed my Kenmore/Whirlpool for $8 with your video. For anyone trying to fix a Kenmore, once you remove the softener dispenser, you need a flat edge screw driver to pop the top cap off the agitator. But other than that, the instructions are the same.

GREAT video! Thanks for your help--you definitely saved me both time and money in repairing my washing machine. I'm really glad you mentioned the threads on the nut were not reversed, and to expect them to be very tight. Mine were so tight I probably would have been second-guessing the correct way to loosen the bolt--thinking they were maybe reverse threads. Well done.

Watched the video, inspected the dogs and found them to be worn out and broken. The dogs are engaged when you turn the upper agitator counter clockwise which should turn the lower agitator together. This will help with troubleshooting the dogs as a possible issue. Pulling the assembly as directed on the video will give you the best diagnosis. Ordered the parts on Amazon and made the repairs. Maytag Centennial with commercial parts, part # 80040, which fits Kenmore and Whirlpool models as well. Thanks for helping make us smarter and self sufficient!

I have a Frigidaire brand heavy duty washer and dryer combined. I am currently having trouble with the washer. It will fill, but it will not go into it's spin cycle. This happens on the "regular" cycle only for some reason as it works on the "press and perm" and "delicate and knits" area. Rinse and final spin are working fine. What would cause this problem? Because it's important, how would I find out what year the washer was manufactured and sold? I got the thing second hand in 2010 and have had no problems until now. Thanks for the help.
