Thank you Frieda, for being the voice of sanity in such an insane time! It never fails to amuse me, how the people who claim to be the most “tolerant” happen to be the LEAST tolerant, whereas the REAL tolerant people are the ones who do not make everything about politics, and can live peacefully and make friends with people they do not necessarily agree with.

In general that is fine, but there is something called the paradox of tolerance, because if you tolerate too much intolerance they will destroy all tolerance at the end. People can have different opinions but if someone is actively spreading hate against other people, endorses violence against innocents or threaten to destroy democracy they have crossed a line. That’s why many countries ban Nazi symbols or symbols of terrorist groups like Hamas or Isis in public.

I grew up in Williamsburg and still have roots in the community. I remember when the Democratic candidate Robert Kennedy came to the old Satmar Rebbe on Bedford Avenue for his blessing. It was the highlight of my youth. The community has changed even though they enjoy the social incentives of the Democratic Party.

It turned out that I attended an event with this Doug, and he is an insufferable condescending egocentric nerd, telling everyone he was the first gentleman of the nation. He is absolutely not religious, eats pork, same for the kids who are brave supporters of Palestinians and hamas, and activists. She has no kids herself. An insufferable family. As for the Trumps, Ivanka used to come to my Shul for Shabbat and Holidays with her three lovely kids. An orthodox Shul. The kids were well raised, well behaving, genuinely interested in other people. She and her husband were discrete and modest, humble, respectful. She was always dressed modestly even if extremely elegant. She can read Hebrew and pray with a book. I think the comparison is so obviously blatant who is fake….

Doug Emhoff is more like the typical American Jew.
Only 10% of American Jews are Orthodox. Outside of the large American cities, there are many cities and towns without any Orthodox Jews at all. In some states, the only Orthodox Jews are the Chabad shluchim (emissaries).
70% of non-Orthodox American Jews are marrying non-Jews.
In June 2024, partly in response to a Reform Rabbi shortage, the Reform Movement changed its rules and welcomed Jews who are dating or married to non-Jews to enter Rabbinical Seminary to become Reform Rabbis.
Most Reform Jews support the popular liberal positions but call it Tikkun Olam. Many will tell you that the essence of Judaism is Tikkun Olam and that is what they love most about Judaism.
Some liberal Jews, including Rabbis, support Hamas and call it Tikkun Olam.
At one time Reform Jews were against Kashrut and deliberately ate pork and shellfish. It is well documented. Today's Reform Temples will usually not allow pork or shellfish to be served at the Oneg Shabbat, congregational Passover Seder, or other public meals at the Temple. However Reform Judaism supports informed choice of the individual to decide what is meaningful and relevant. There is no problem with an individual Reform Jew deciding to eat bacon cheeseburgers outside of the Temple.
The Reform Movement bends over backwards to welcome the non-Jewish spouse. Because Reform Rabbis perform interfaith weddings and the Reform Movement has introduced patrilineal descent for children raised as Jews, the Reform Movement is the most popular with intermarried Jews.
As intermarriage becomes the accepted norm and not the exception as in previous generations, American Jews will flock to Reform Judaism and Doug Emhoff will be extolled as the ideal Jew.

In which case he should be praised for showing up to address all the issues and define his policies. I assume your people know that Bebe and Jared Kushner are life long friends with Bebe even sleeping over Kushner's house when Jared was younger. Trump knows very well to attribute a grain of salt to a community that spends so much time criticizing and complaining about and attacking the Kushners' Jewishness And MISSTATING the actual POLICIES that Kushner and Trump supported. Bad enough Jews are hated around the world but also within the Jewish world. NO, haters not everyone with a crap life gets to be called a "REFUGEE" and there are UN standards for that. I truly thank you and appreciate how your introduction to this video was handled by you. It is difficult times. Politics are just as you said very black-and-white and it’s almost devastating how divided our country is with its own people. I have decided to homeschool my children just to teach them more about our biblical history. I can’t ever get on my phone without seeing feed about guns killing people and how dangerous they are but wonder why mental health is not an issue, especially when we have heard from many say they needed help and were sent to a sobriety home. I’m truly excited for the Hasidic community in your home area and cannot wait to see the video that comes out by you. Thank you again.

Even if he is not ticking the box of antisemitism you have to understand that Germans spend a lot of time in school learning about the destruction of democracy. And after learning all this Trump is raising a lot of red flags ( the cult like following, blaming minorities and migrants for all the problems, claiming to be anti-elite while rubbing shoulders with all these extremely wealthy people and promoting them to government posts, the tendency to not respect a democratic election and inciting a coup attempt, threats to persecute opponents, and the list goes on). There is a very famous poem from Dietrich Bonhoeffer about keeping silent when others are persecuted and then complaining that nobody is left to complain when his turn comes. People should really think about that when hearing hateful remarks towards another group of people.

I just remind you that Donald Trump was the president of the United States for 4 years, and he delivered what he said he would. There was no wars during his presidency and we were not the laughing stock of the rest of the world. My personal life has been fairly better (less taxes, no inflation, cheap gas, new EO giving federal employees 12 weeks paid of maternity leave etc…) So, maybe your personal experience has been awful during those 4 years, maybe you paid more taxes and were submitted to a harsh racism, but to be honest, I doubt that. I think the one who should rethink his position is you.

@user-my6et9pd4w Trump exhibits fearless dominance and he operates on a visceral level. Many are drawn to his charm as a result. You're trying to rationalize the dynamics of his supporters by looking through a rational lens, but it doesn't work that way. Trump makes some people feel "safe" by evoking a protective vibe. It's the same with "bad boys" who get all the girls. They might seem like loose cannons but they evoke a protective instinct because they will stand their ground.

So going in I already knew that the event was going to be cancelled...So in that sense it was a little strange, but I wanted to hear your discussion around the anticipation of this event in your hisidic community.
I really appreciate how you are able to listen to such diverse opinions without going off tilt. I purposefully withhold my opinions when I'm around others who are very opposite to what I think or believe bc I'm still needing control and respect! Lol 😂 this is STILL really hard for me. I'm working on it. But I find that listening to and watching people like you model this and put it before my eyes...then I'm more able to do it myself. If the mystery guest does turn out to be former President Trump there is no doubt in my mind that he will receive a warm and enthusiastic welcome. Eight years ago when he was first running for President one of the Ultra Orthodox enclaves held a fundraising luncheon for him where he was the guest of honor. He enjoyed a giddy reception. I personally find the man to be an obnoxious drama queen but I can kind of understand the enthusiasm and sentiment. His moral high ground may be very shaky but they believe judgement to be the business of G-d and he will have to answer directly to G-d Himself about his failings and shortcomings when comes the time. They want a President who can get the job of a decisive President done and they believe Donald Trump to be capable of that job. His ways may be unconventional and somewhat out of the box but they can appreciate that in a President who gets the job done. It really is as easy as that.
