First I found a plastic version at my local produce department. It worked great until I found a stainless steel version. WOW..what a difference. I realized that we don't have pineapple for meals because the preparation is a real pain. Not anymore! This device is a God send!
Cutting a pineapple by hand is pretty easy if you know how to do it. This tool is pretty satisfying tho and it leaves no fruit behind.
I love pineapple, but it is not fun and is messy to cut without a corer.Not anymore!

I totally understand and I'm so sorry for the flood! The reason that you got so many all at once is that we changed how the videos on Williams-Sonoma's website are hosted. We had to move everything over to TH-cam in a short period of time and so the flood that you experienced was that transition.
Should leave the bottom on it and fill it with rum, ice and coconut cream. Best pina colada evah!

I just used mine for the first time tonight and it worked great!
Great product, especially when doing them in bulk like I do for canning, much faster when I have 15 to 20 to peel, core and slice so they can go in jars and into the canner.

I am a 12 year old and I just checked this out cause I saw this from Kid Danger when they were trying to peel a pineapple
I received this slicer as a gift. I DESPISE unitaskers in my kitchen, but since it was a present I thought I'd be appreciative and try it out.
I got the middle out, nice little rings. Then cut up the shell and was much more easily able to remove the rest of the fruit.
It's only really wasteful if you don't get the rest of the fruit meat out, but that's on the user not on the slicer. Slicing out the core and middle rings enabled me to easier get at the rest of the fruit. Beyond that, if serving for a party you have fresh pineapple rings. Cutting up 3 pineapples for a fruit tray with just a knife is tedious and messy, bonus you CAN use the empty shell for display (you probably wouldn't do it for yourself, but for presentation purposes? Why not?)
Again, I wouldn't buy this for myself, but it's definitely pretty cool. You could probably use it on other large firm fruits too (cantaloup and watermelon) to get cool rings. Doesn't mean you can't cut the rest of the fruit out to eat after that.

SUGGESTION: Next time, keep it straight. If you want to get it out of the pineapple easily, once drilled down, slice down the side of the pineapple shell, before removing contents upward, it will reduce the suction. You could even slice it on both sides, provided you don't want to use the outer husk as a decorative glass for a fancy beverage or as a fruit salad holder, to be thrown out, after use.

You got to understand that most of the haters hate themselves because they don't have a life and this is how ( in their own warped mind ) they get through the day.
I use the technique found in a video on TH-cam where an islander man cuts the pineapple with a sharp filet knife. Very fast and very efficiently once you've learned teh simple techniques.
I love this idea, but as seen I missed out on much of the goodness along the inner shell when using this device. The tool is only so big and only cuts so close. Loosing lots of good pineapple in the process.

After you bought it. You just realized you only have 20% chance to get that size of pineapple for this "Pineapple Slicer". Another problem. While you are at the Grocery store. You have to keep guessing will this one or that one for my Pineapple Slicer. End up spending too much time only to pick an Pineapple. This is the real Life experience.
Is this a one size fits all pineapple cutter? Or do I have to cut every pineapple other than the ones that you can use this for?
only not the best, if the pineapple is too small. i just chew the skin out, and use the other partfor salad in 1 minute. to me the cleanest, fastest and easiest way to clean a pineapple, even if people call me disabled or lazy

I think this a good idea if you like pineapple or an enthusiasts for pinapples. What is wrong with innovating to make people lives easier and make money. Have you seen the way it is done normally? And can still waste a lot of fruit by doing it the manual and tedious way.
