This airport is dated and was built during the time when volume of travelers was relatively small. Now it’s a dinosaur and is always crowded and the facilities are old! Port Authority of NY/NJ needs to re-evaluate the airport, and its relevance to 21st century and needs a rethink regarding airport facilities, comfort, convenience and a pleasant experience for all who travel through this facility!

I agree, although the new Terminal A is actually quite good, both modern in appearance and very functional. But the problem is it is still stuck with the 2 restrictive parallel runways, that cause no end of backups in peak times and bad weather.

The issue regarding 2 parallel runways has been there from about 3 decades ago. The cross runway that was operational from Newark city end was OK for DC 9, and other vintage jets that could take off towards the Port side. Then noise abatement and encroaching city have cramped that runway making the present 2 parallel runway that stifles the amount of planes that can land & take off! The ever expanding lanes of NJ Turnpike blocks any expansion. So we have a boxed situation, and therefore renew the terminals to accelerate ppl going through. New York has Kennedy, LaGuardia, Islip, Westchester and Stewart besides Newark the difference being Newark is close to Manhattan. So revamping Terminals B,C should be undertaken without delay as it will take 5-7 yrs to get it done.

I agree with this comment, me and my cousin went to Terminal A to see our family in Atlanta, when we were getting out from the Airtrain, we both have noticed that the terminal was 0.3 miles away (a 15 minute walk) meaning we had to walk past the bus station since all the shuttles were shut down for the day. So I believe we went through a VERY VERY long corridor that led us to a rent a car then an escalator which brought us to a spacious walkway that connects to level 2. We were both infuriated how Port Authority could make a monstrosity like this, now I get the whole terminal is nice and all but the fact that it’s a 15 minute walk from the Airtrain to the station was the most stupidest thing they’ve ever built. It would’ve been better if Port Authority could make the Terminal A station right through the main concourse where you check in on level 3. I cannot believe how many people that bring along children or the elderly from a flight to Terminal A and have to walk 0.3 miles to the airtrain, especially the ones who were on a flight that was long and tiring. In short words, Port Authority shouldn’t just be focusing on the infrastructure itself but the matter for all traveling passengers.
