I took this landing video hoping for a clear view of the mountains and Fraser Valley on approach into YVR Vancouver. The view started out lovely, although with some clouds blocking things. But unfortunately once we turned due west for final approach the glare from the sun made it hard to get as clear video as I had hoped. Still a decent view, with the cranberry fields in Richmond.
I love clouds. Personally … the video wouldn’t be as lovely without them. ❤️ Thank you for sharing your video it’s great. I live on Vancouver Island and wherever I travel to I’m always glad to come back to our beautiful province.
That’s a phenomenal video! It’s so clear and smoothe and your patience paid off. I loved every minute of it and it’s gorgeous with all the clouds. Kudos for adding the informative text, greatly appreciated. I live in White Rock and fly frequently but have never made an amazing video like yours. 😊
I am glad you liked it. I also fly a lot and have taken a few videos, but they don't always come out clear and of course can't control the weather! Always trying to improve!
I was on this exact flight the day before, Nov. 4th, and I can say it was a very bumpy descent because of the storm that was going through. Man, I was hanging onto the arm rest for dear life. 😂
That 777 engine is as smooth-riding and sounding as glass; inspires confidence in the flight and aircraft. All the coughing and hacking near the camera makes me happy I wasn't nearby. Nice scenery.
Awesome! As a resident of greater Vancouver and having made that approach many times it's always cool to watch a video like this and associate the landmarks as we come into land. I love flying, especially the take-offs and landings. Thanks for taking the time to share.
I live in Richmond and have flown many times in and out of YVR and never get tired of it, especially on a nice day. I try to map out which approach we are doing each time base on the landmarks I can recognize.
My kid told me that she could see our home on the plane. I watched this video and found out that it's true. Thanks for your 4K video taken under nice weather and time.
I've lived in Vancouver for 25 years, and the scenery is as thrilling as the day I got here. I regularly fly the short hop from Vancouver to Comox on Vancouver Island to visit family, and on a clear day the scenery during the 20 minute hop is simply breathtaking. I always tell people if I was told I could never leave BC again as long as I live (I'm 50), I would be perfectly content to spend all my vacation and travel time in the province.
I thought having the clouds in the video was beautiful. I was born in Vancouver & spent the first 5 years of my life in Port Coquitlam. I have been back a few times. Such a beautiful view from the air ❤
Beautiful views of the Coast Mountains...thank GAWD the world has not heard of them yet! (except for the tourist trap known as Whistler!) For full effect one should drive in from the east into Lillooet, BC....the mountains go STRAIGHT UP on the other side of town....no foothills, no freeways, rest stops or anything else....you just drive straight into this wall of mountains....Jaw dropping!
I’m from San Pedro Sula, Honduras 🇭🇳 but live in Vancouver 🇨🇦 since July 2021, I fly often for my work so every time coming back it feels like my first home in Honduras, it is always nice to come back to the place where you live! Great video 👍
You can easily check the Environment Canada weather forecast to see wind direction at least a day in advance of landing. But as a rule of thumb, you should ALWAYS be seated on the right hand side of the plane when landing at YVR.

Fantastic quality - on yvr to lhr - and vice versa, I always get a starboard seat. You get the North Shore and city into yvr, and into LHR, you pretty much fly along the river, with the Tower of London, the City, then Buckingham Palace, Westminster - the. Abbey, Parliament, London Eye, etc. - and if you now London, you'll know the stadiums and MI5 building - my kid always used to say it looked like Peter Pan
Nice to come in from the East too! I live on the island, so a lot of times the plane has to land from the west, which means after a long flight, I fly over the island and can see my town, then fly back to Vancouver, then wait hours for a Jazz fight to Victoria, which also flies within sight of my town and then down into Saanich, leaving me with an hour and a half drive down to Victoria and back up the island home! Its very frustrating!
I do although I did not have it with me that day. I have found polarizing filters sometimes don't work well with the inside plastic window part on airplanes.
@@yvrtravels Absolutely true. A pola in that situation is frequently a disaster. Best course of action is to choose your seat to be on the shaded side of the aircraft. In that case, you'd have a great view of downtown, Stanley Park and the best part of the Lower Mainland - North Van! :)

@@RenateDeBruyn thanks. I love flying back home. I didn't realize people like the video with clouds, nice to know!
Would have been nice to get a 5 second flash of the map every minute or so.
@@peterlegere380 Thanks for the suggestion that is a good idea, I will look into it.
I live in Vancouver for 48 years, and am still thrilled to fly back to it. Love the clouds, plus the sound of that engine. Well done Sir,
Thanks, Bas.
I am glad you liked it. I have lived in Vancouver most of my life, and love flying back and seeing the mountains.
Agreed the sound is so calming.
It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful B.C. Is.
I definitely agree!
Thanks for such a beautiful video, with no distractions. So good to see all the mountain valleys and the rivers so clearly. We had a front-row seat!
So glad you liked it! it was such a gorgeous day over the mountains.
beautiful British Columbia!
Wow beautiful camera shot. Thank you very much
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful shoot, enjoyed a lot. Very smooth landing
Beautiful scenery and landing! Thank you :)

You are right. I love the suspended clouds hovering mountains and the airport. Quelle vue merveilleuse! De: Victoria BC Canada.
Beautiful approach and landing regardless of clouds and glare

Very special!
My husband and I have taken this BA flight out of Heathrow many times over the past 30 years: it is always a stunning experience.
I have done BA in the past but haven’t been that happy with them and I don’t like terminal 3 in Heathrow, it always seems to be overcrowded
Great ride/thankyou for the video
Thanks, I love Vancouver, especially the views from the air!
Love this , thank you for sharing
Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Very cool. Very steady camera work
New vids finally.good job.
Thanks, have been taking videos just finding it hard to find time to edit and post

I normally am seated on the right hand side, but this time it was an upgrade with only 1 window seat available in business.
@@yvrtravels Ah that explains it. Yep I'd rather take J-class left window than Y-class right window. 😀

I agree BC is a wonderful place to live.
Almost saw my North Delta home, but was covered by clouds. Right under the flight path.
lucky to get a clear day in the last month
but first 8-9 days of Dec it was like high of 18-20. More sun than in both July and Aug
thanks!
Glad to see YVR has not moved.

Great video -however, in your description you have 777-300 er and then next to it ( B789 ) - CFRAM. !!!! ???
Great catch, it should be B77W not B789. I've updated, many thanks!

Beautiful ! Do you have a POLARIZING FILTER on your camera ? That might help cut the glare.
I do although I did not have it with me that day. I have found polarizing filters sometimes don't work well with the inside plastic window part on airplanes.

Great to see Star Alliance still flying. They flew out of South Africa at times other airlines did not.
I fly most with Star alliance being in Canada with their Air Canada partner.
Series X or S?
Colecovision?
Yep it's pretty linear up there
With so many people coughing and hacking out their lungs did you catch anything from them?
Give it a few days to know for sure
hopefully not as I fly onto Bangkok through Taipei the next day. all good so far... fingers crossed!
my home...
777 or 787-9? Very quiet engine.
777-300ER sitting near the front I think helps as not as loud as at the back of the plane.
that 4K is pretty cool!
Glad I'm not sitting next to the person that keeps coughing 😮
thankfully he was 2 rows and an aisle away from me.
What you need to do is a video that is landing right before the sun sets. It's otherworldly up there.
It's a good idea, although tricky to try to plan for. Most flights I come back are either afternoon or later evening.
👍🙏
Horizon is flat hahah no curve think about it
shot from wrong side of plane.
nice video, except for the French
