I don't think I could feel more represented right now, like a trans guy named ash with he/they pronouns :')))))))) so happy we get a trans guy on the pod!!!! and I love him, thank you shannon
sorry the color changes a bunch!!! i was in a rush to go to zolitas show and couldn’t play with it anymore! but soon everything will be set and consistent!!!
So interesting. I love that you are bringing on guests that represent ALL queer peoples. Everyone needs to be educated on the queer spectrum to broaden understanding and remove stigmas. Loved listening to Ash!
When this podcast started, I did not realize how much we needed it. I follow multiple lgbt podcasts and thought this one would be repetitive/similar content, but this one is different. I am genuinely, and pleasantly surprised by these conversations. Shannon has made something incredible ❤
hands down my favorite episode to date, much love to yall! Ive been a fan of you shannon since tumblr days and a fan of you ash since buzzfeed days so this episode made my heart burst in all the right ways :)
The discussion around gender affirming care and the politicization of trans people were so important. Also cool to hear that the trans community has created a safe, helpful camp for themselves to hangout and connect. They are resiliant! LOVE yall 💗
52:45 Oh my god! That was my exact experience! I'm the youngest child, but I came out as trans first. My parents had a really, really rough time with it. Then, later, my oldest sister came out as trans and they were so positive and reassuring to her in a way they weren't (and still aren't) with me. So, the fuck you energy is strong 💀💀 like, I'm glad she got to experience that but also... you're welcome, lol.
as a trans guy and a try guys fan for years, ash joining the try guys was so cool and i love hearing about his experiences as they are similar to mine. i previously identified as a lesbian but also asexual and now im just queer ... but yeah dudes somehow got hot around the time i started T :D and ash is so handsome too :)
LOVED this! It's always lovely to hear trans stories and Ash talking about loosing queer spaces and what he's learning about being a trans man was very enlightening and is those conversations that need to be more on blast!! His story about his dad teaching him to tie a tie made me cry!
Could totally relate to the feeling of everything feeling fake. I definitely feel like I'm in an alternate universe every time I'm reminded of who will enter the WH next month.🥴 I was also feeling burnt out and sad, so I took a break from IG, SM, and just anything new content wise. I was super down, and just needed to sit with my feelings. Anyhoo! On to my thoughts on this episode! Ash is really funny and I enjoyed this episode. It was so interesting and sad listening to him talk about not feeling unsafe walking around anymore now that he has transitioned. It is such a wild concept that he has experienced walking in the world feeling unsafe as a woman and now he feels the safety that being a man automatically provides you as you walk in the world. Great episode! Also, YAY for TOUR! Can't wait to see you next March my fellow Piscean!💜♓
This is generating so many questions and feelings in me (mostly good ones) but I don't know how to word it. One thing that occurs to me is that gender awareness and questioning in a child is a healthy and normal part of growing up - that's how we learn from each other to some degree. Just because I'm an inquisitive, "boyish" girl-child, doesn't necessarily make me dysmorphic. A confident and caring parent can support a child through these questioning periods and normalize it
I definitely am more adverse to my shots now, but that's also because of how much scar tissue there is now. When I first started T, it was easy, but almost a decade on now it's a lot harder to go through.
39:09 I had the same thoughts about breast cancer. When I came to the realisation that that wasn't normal or healthy it's when I found out I was trans.
If you haven’t yet read “Peter Darling” by Austin Chant, READ IT NOW!!!!!!!!! Retelling of Peter Pan from a trans perspective. I’m enjoying it a lot (started it the other day and am about halfway through).
27:50 conversation, I think the danger in that is that hormone blockers will stunt physical and sexual development, like breast/ penis growth. And I’m not sure a child can consent to making such a decision for themselves. Therefor that should be left for individuals to decide once they can make a consenting decision, age of 18 in most states.
Perhaps don’t say “Donate blood,” when a significant portion of us MSM still don’t have the same rights as other groups. We still need to wait three months which is BS, but better. 🏳️🌈🩸
The whole episode I literally just kept going "That's my exact experience", and it was so validating. Also, it is truly sad going from almost always clean restrooms to the hellscape of the mens room. Me using the mens room of my own free will should prove to anyone that I'm a man. Cis men could not care less about not making a mess. I clean public restrooms frequently, and the womens takes half the time because I don't have to scrub poop off the walls and toilets or pickup messed in boxers. 🫠
wow, i didn't know Ash transitioned, i saw the title and i smiled so wide when i recognized the name. that's awesome, he looks a lot happier
ME TOO!

Thank you for having so many diverse guests on your podcast. I have learned a lot.
Something about this podcast where I constantly feel like I am seeing/learning perspectives that I never have before. Shannon is doing so great.
