My dad was a captain for SAA I can picture him in his uniform , he used to do the long haul flights on the 747's from Cape Town to Europe and England .. He always said the Boeing's were the best planes he flew . Even now that we now live in New Zealand , when we fly back , we go with South African .

One of my best friend's dad was a pilot for SAA (747's) - he loved it! One day I flew to the US and visited the cockpit and voila - there was Mr. Roberts! lol. Great video.

WOW! WOW! WOW!! Absolutely amazing!! I was cabin crew under command of Captain Carl Jensen many a time!! The most professional captain alive and a wonderful person!! Passengers loved him cause he always used to tell stories and the odd joke over the P.A. This video is typical of him, his love of flying, aircraft and people!!! Wel gedaan Kaptein!! Well done!

Unfortunately not... we have a library of music we use for our programs which has all been licensed to us.. and we do not have or keep track of names, sorry... but anyway this is not music you buy in places like iTunes...

This video is Awesome, I had the pleasure of working with Capt Jensen a number of times on the SAA flight out of JFK...
Also the 747SP sound at 4:32 is just awesome.... I missed the SP's by a month last time I went down to SA

the SP takeoff at 4:30 is BY FAR the best sounds on the tape, also seeing Captain Jensen on here is a pleasure, he flew me from JFK to JNB about 8 years ago on the -400

747-400 was and still is a magnificent aircraft.

+Steinwaygrande Pitty Boeing is about to discontinue it, because of the airbus 380. She were and still is, my opinion, the QUEEN OF THE SKY.
Boeing try to compensate with the new Boeing 777 X and the Boeing 787 series. But none of them will have the same aura as the Boeing 747.

Totally agree. Nothing like the 747. Used to fly them for SAA and Qantas. Been retired 10 years now, but still keep flying as I bought an Aero Commander 690 turbo prop and do long distance charter flights. It's used for when my family plus grandchildren go away on holiday.

+Boeing Freak Use to work with SAA for many years in Cabin Services. Were not allowed to fly, wearing glasses (1972). Familiar with a few pilots, two as mentioned in the clip, Hennie du Rand and Carl Jensen. All of a sudden I feel very old. Lol

To answer a few old questions, no it is a A300, note no winglets on taxi out. Boeing B747sp is a shortened version of the B747-100, lighter weight giving it greater speed and range and fuel burn, but to be honest the passenger load did suffer. Many differences, but to many to go into now. Worked on these planes for 11 years and regret ever changing airlines

I would also like to see more US airlines at more US airports. I love foreign airlines but, sometimes I would just like to see maybe a couple of approaches into Vegas. How about doing some airline like Southwest? Iran Air has the bet introduction out of all your videos. I would love to see more like that because that introduction MADE the video.
