I have a fold 3, really got it to play with until the duo 2 which I preordered. After a week with the duo 2 as my primary business device I returned it. Duo 2 software is not ready for prime time, nothing like sitting in a meeting, but having to restart phone because the screen stops responding to touch. Software was just terrible, productivity showed promise but was light years behind the fold 3, basic android multitasking options are missing, just a bad experience. Fold 3 is now my daily driver and couldn't be happier.
Because the foldable are in such a niche market I don't think any of us will be completely satisfied until the design is perfected. Adding better IP ratings, making better cases, definitely adding better color options. My fold 3 is mostly a secondary device and that's only because a lot of my family and friends use an iPhone. But I like the option of unfolding my phone and having that bigger display for viewing content or multitasking. Multitasking is truly what I like about this device that I can't get with my iPhone.
I just picked up a Duo 2 and a lot of it had to do with Your Information. The Duo 2 is Exactly what I was looking for. I work with Electrical Drawings and Blueprints. The Passport was the King for viewing Drawings and Emails. But....long live the New King. This is awesome. Thanks for your honesty. Cheers.
Watching from my Duo 2. If people are interested in Duo, they can get the Duo for the discounted price of $400-$700 which is much less than the Duo 2. Having owned the Fold 2, Duo, and Duo 2, I can say that the Duo has really helped me with multitasking. It's an extension of my Surface Pro 7. I do agree that the Fold 3 is more readily accessible to the masses than the Duo 2.
I love that the Fold 3 is just small enough to work with a few of the game controllers. I use it with the old Glap controller for emulation gaming, it's awesome. It just fits with a couple millimeters to spare, love it.
Me too bro! I was just thinking about my Tab S7+s & my Tab S7, and how when I do use them again, They'll be brand new to me! I've really neglected them since I bought my Z Fold3.
Great to have this clarity thanks. Parallel questions, if you're running Duo2 as second device, what is primary and also what is your ideal two device combination ?
Great video. I have 2 basic issues with both of these devices. Duo- Microsoft showed their hand way back with the Lumia phones and the purchase of Nokia. They abandoned the market, now they want back in. Why should the consumer trust that? Fold- When there are no longer copious reports of devices breaking through normal usage, I'll be in the market. Keep up the good work!
Ok. Copious was a bit overkill. My point was I don't trust the level at where the folding tech is at yet. And I cringe when I read stories on random screen artifacts/defects/failures.
Got my ZF3 yesterday using the black Friday discount. $250 discount off the top and then bought a s21 off swappa for $350 that I'm trading in for $650 PLUS I had an old iPhone X laying around for another $220. So I'm paying $720ish for the ZF3 AND free Galaxy Buds 2 AND 15% cash back off that from Rakuten. AND on top of that it's 0% financing.
Yeah definitely not financing anything this year. Better off just using trade ins and paying the cost up front. That way you don't have to worry about selling or trading it later. It's funny I ordered the iPhone 13 pro first and the z fold 3 is what came first in the mail.
I got my Z Fold 3 brand new from Samsung for $650, they added a wireless charger, buds 2 and $100 store credit which got me the S pen, and 2 fast charger bricks. The deals are crazy no brainer
I was a loyal customer of Samsung smartphones. I had from Note 1 to 10 plus (even the Note Edge, unreleased here in Brazil), except Note 7 (for obvious reasons) and Note 20 Ultra (because only Exynos SOC was available here). I also had an S3, S8 Plus and every smartwatch from Samsung since 2013. Last year I bought the Z Fold 2, but I sold it few weeks later because the lack of support for S Pen, then I went back to Note 10+. This year Samsung made the z fold 3 compatible with the S Pen and then I made a pre order. In less than 3 weeks the paint of the housing starts to peel off. I left the phone in official Samsung service shop and until now, 5 weeks later, they never returned my z fold fixed or returned my money. Samsung of Brazil steal my phone!!! They never gave any explanation to me! The only thing that Samsung Service repair shop says is for me "wait until the manufacturer get in touch with you". The only option I have now is go to the tribunals. After all this mess, I will never ever buy a Samsung product again!
You didn't get a confirmation email that they received a product confirmation number receipt or anything to track that they have received your phone on the day you turned it in? If not it's your fault because this can happen with any brand. Your lack of follow through cause you to get your phone stolen. Sorry for your lost.
The Z Fold is best for most consumers. I agree. MICROSOFT is horrible at marketing. I do not understand why they push this product. It's a shame that Microsoft makes a product (again) and don't advertise what's use cases are for. I love my DUO2
I am picking up my Duo 2 from Best Buy soon. I have owned the Z fold.... Hated it. So fragile and that plastic screen is fragile. Let's see how the Duo 2 holds up. I love the Duo 1.
I had the original Duo last year and although I loved the concept and functionality I returned the phone due to the super poor camera. I would have considered it again, but the camera functionality is concerning for everyday use (having to flip open the phone to take a picture). I recently bought the ZF3, but after a week I've decided to return it for a few reasons. The phone it heavy.. when unfolded it's not so bad, but when folded it feels like your holding a gold bar, and because of the weight if you drop it your likely to cause damage, I don't think you could own this phone without the extended accidental coverage at $12 a month. The front main screen is just to small to type on or do anything funtional. The large screen is beautiful, but most apps don't play well with it and even using the Labs your basically back using a normal phone screen size. They also factory installed screen protectors on the phone, the front one is super annoying because there is a lip from it and your finger runs across that edge - and sadly in less then a week there is minor scratches on the front screen protector when I've been babying this phone. Not worth the money at the end of the day.
Same. While my use case would probably be better suited with the Duo 2, for most people, the Z Fold 3 would be better for most people. I do wish the Duo 2 had something like the DeX mode, though.
Amen - My thoughts exactly! Sadly Microsoft has a very poor history supporting its mobile devices. I will probably pass on the SD2 as the SD1 I own has what I need.
I have the Microsoft duo 2.I have my surface 8 and studio setup.I totally agree the duo 2 is not a phone for everyone.if you have a business it will be perfect for you.
Z Fold 3 seven durability ultimately turned me off, was surprised that duo 2 could have really shined, but no ip68. Wish Samsung had something like the lg v60 for the Galaxy S line. Would buty instantly, reliability as a phone for multiple years is important to me.
The z fold 3 durability shouldn't be an issue at all unless you keep dropping it in which case any phone will brake at some point, the gorilla glass victus is on the front screen & back, as for the main display it is good quality don't feel soft at all, honestly I wouldn't worry about it unless you are clumsy & always drop your phones & stuff.
You’ll hafta give me the name of your barber cuz you look 15 years younger now. When I get a cut and beard trim I look like I should be riding the short bus home… in the front seat…. with the window up….. sigh.
Haha. If you’re in Houston let me know. But yeah. I look way better after everything is trimmed up. I normally get a haircut every two weeks and ended up going almost a month this time just because I got busy with holiday stuff. Good gosh it was miserable. I’ve got my haircut every 10-14 days for the last 20 years.
Hey you always look full pro no matter when your last trim was!I’m lucky, where I live the scruffy look is considered a necessity- it keeps the brown bears from coming down outa the north hills and following you home and eating all your KitKats and M&Ms!
Easy decision, software updates is the demise of the Surface device for me. It's almost apparent that it will be dropped in a year or less, Samsung doesnt have the BEST track record, but we know the premium you pay for it forces them to act different and will reluctantly support is long term
I had the fold 2 and the durability was awful. Screen cracked at the fold in less than 6 months as a primary phone. I went with the Duo 2, but I am a business user and it fits perfectly in my work flow for multitasking. Thanks for your thoughts between the two! I love your reviews.
Duo 2 is dam near perfect I don't see why a outside screen is such a big deal I sold my fold 3 because the duo 2 is just so much more productive... Snapping apps together is cool but meh..... Fold 3 screen wasn't that great and I always was worried about scratches... And when it comes to protection the duo 2 hands down has better protection because it protects the inside screens... Last but not least duo 2 has daul sim nd that keeps me from having to carry around 2 phones
Haha. I don’t. Honestly in have quite a few moles that don’t look good when I have no hair. I saw just how bad it was when they buzzed my hair in basic training. It’s not a good look lol.
With the surface duo, I had the first model. The thing about it is...it's like riding a bike for the first time. Because your not used to it, you fail at first. Once you learn to truly navigate the device. You really begin to enjoy it. And no other phone quite quenches the thirst. I was sadden when I learned while walking outside, when it began to storm it couldn't handle any moisture and was exposed to damage. Hopefully the duo 2 holds better against liquid.
Also, when we tell you guys to get the z fold instead it's because, it's usually code for...you can't handle this and there's a limited amount, so go buy the normal human phone...
After all those foldables I've tried, I still think the Mate XS (with GMS) is the best choise from all on the market right now. I hated the bulkiness of the Z Fold 2, but hated the camera and sound from Surface Duo. With the Mate XS, I have the best from both worlds.
Remember. I didn’t say it was better. And I also said if people know that they definitely want the Duo 2 than to go get it and you’ll like it. But it’s not for everyone.
@@TechOdyssey Yes my friend I was just joking I am Egyptian and we are always like this 😁😁😁😁😁 The problem is That the surface duo 2 did not appear in Egypt yet I do not know why !!!!!!!
Surface duo 2 just clicks with what I want out of a mobile device.
Me too. It’s great.

Bouncing back and forth between the Pixel 6 and iPhone 13 Pro right now
I just hope Microsoft keeps at it. The duo could be mainstream if given the attention and support.
They need to get the price down

does the z fold 3 screen scratch easily? thats my main concern at this point because of the plastic glass screen it has

Maybe. I don’t think it will be as cheap as the original Duo
Wishing for something to die so you can get it for cheap just doesn't sit right for me
