Mine was about 10 bucks had all port covers, no controllers memory cards cords or games though
i got a console by itself for $20 but it also has a ton of scratches in it...
I got mine with all the cables. One remote. And Zelda wind waker inside the counsel at my local good will for $15

I would get all three vuitiful joe games just because the first two are cheap and amazing for playing solo if you like story in a game than red hot rumble for when you want to play with you're friends

From what I can tell if you want that it’s likely about 80 - 120 USD depending on how much you get the console / game.
to anyone in 2022, this is a whole lot more than 100$ now unfortunately. approximate price for all of this stuff as of june 19, 2022 is about 365$ USD, with about 100$ of that being spent on the console and controllers alone.
2016 : Gamecube complete for about 40$
2021 : Gamecube complete for about your arm, leg, and first born child.
ikr? gamecubes and its accessories and games are so expensive nowdays, especially the controllers, the controller alone goes for 50+ dollars lmao
I was interested and looked up the current prices. This is now worth about $320 conservatively.

Yes! When I got my Cube for my birthday it came with Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, and Melee. I only had any clue about Melee, but all three turned out to be excellent!
Absolutely love the GameCube. This would be tough for me as I have pretty much every single game in the library, even some imports. In my personal opinion the GameCube has one of the most interesting libraries of all time. I still play many of them to this day. Fun system. Great to collect for!

I bought a Gamecube for $49.99 CAD in a game store. It came with one controller, and all the cords. The memory card was $10, and I already had 3 other controllers from my brother's old Gamecube and my Smash Bros. bundle.
looking back in time in 2016 is like finding a time capsule with values of how much gamecube were worth before
Prices will go down eventually, not back down all the way but definetely not as expensive as they are now

Ken O'Donnell don't feel bad, it was going for 40 here in the states about three or four years ago. the price dropped but as it seems more collectors are jumping on Gamecube now prices for many titles are going to go up again, hell Billy Hatcher for example used to be around twenty complete now is seeming to be pushing the higher 40s. Kinda glad I got the majority of must have titles and most of the obscurer ones like Lost Kingdoms 1 and 2 and Jedi knight 2(the gamecube port seems to be pretty obscure anyway) already when prices were lower. Guess I should double my efforts to get the few remaining titles I been after like Custom Robo, Four swords adventure, Pop Warrior Within, Ultimate Spiderman, Kirby's air ride and Super Monkey ball one and two, Harvest moon magical melody, RE 2-Code Veronica X, etc. in case prices on those go up.
I just bought Billy Hatcher for $15 at my local game store, it all depends on location.

Wow crazy timing for this video. I was inspired by your other $100 videos and last week I challenged myself to do a GameCube hunt with a $100 budget. I managed to snag a Platinum GameCube with cables, a platinum controller, a 64GB memory card, and a Shadow the Hedgehog game for only $25 on Craigslist. I also managed to get a copy of Animal Crossing for $20 and Mario Kart Double Dash for $30 on Craigslist. Finally I got a copy of Luigi's Mansion for $22 on eBay. I was going to make video about it when the copy of Luigi's Mansion came in, but I suppose you've beaten me to it. Loved your guide though and I will definitely look for Metroid and Resident Evil for my next hunt.
My gamecube starter would definitly be a gamecube, a melee disc and a crt. We are now good to go!

Hey man thank you for the tips I'm at a pretty young age and that makes collecting much harder for me then other people and because of that I find as many tips as possible and I have watched for three years! So I plan on picking up a wii because my parents sold the 50+ games I owned and my wii. So i wanna get a new one!

Woah, where ever you got your games, that was a steal! This is a rundown of where I am of how my local game store sells this: GameCube with 1 controller, AV/ Power cables= $40 Memory Card (space varies) = $10-$25, Luigi's Mansion = $60, and Animal Crossing = $40. Though I have all that, I'm glad I don't need to buy them! GameCube games and accessories are so outrageous for pricing where I am!
Never buy on retro stores locally, only buy online and in flea markets, that is much cheaper. Well, if you find a good deal, go for it.
+Geliot0406 Yea, but I already have everything I want for the GC (Except the component cables) when it was cheap! But I don't really trust online because you can't test it in person and who knows what has happened to it, unlike the store I goto takes everything apart and cleans it out! So I agree with ya, just worried with trust of things working or not!

Luckily I still have my Indigo Game Cube from when I first got it as a kid. I recently bought Metroid Prime and Luigi's Mansion. Both games are amazing to play. :D
In the netherlands you can get a gamecube with 2 controllers and games for about 40 euro's
If the prices were right, silver console with hookups, wave bird, memory card, and Luigi's Mansion. That's what I started with when I got my GameCube as a child and still love it.
I got the animal crossing for $3 at a Disc Replay store. They had both players choice, in a fake case, and a regular in a GameCube case. When I was little, I though that players choice meant that it was multiplayer. I was clearly wrong and wish I got the other one for how cheap it was. I always notice the non-players choice games are always more expensive. I don’t really care too much, but it was an opportunity to get the better case.
Hey Lithium, in your future $100 starter guide for the gamecube, you should include the gameboy player :)
Why the gameboy player is awesome and it alone is pretty cheap finding the boot disc is not a easy task. And if you do find it just like it's brother. the GameCube component cable be prepared to pay alot of cash!
Despite me not owning a Gamecube yet. I still have 2 of the massive amount of the greatest systems titles. Super Mario Sunshine & Super Smash Bros Melee. those two alone keep me occupied for hours. especially Sunshine. I currently I play them on my Wii.
This hasn't aged well... everything is double the price now :p

Try finding a store in your area that repairs discs. It's cheaper than buying new copies
ericbazinga I actually do have a retro game store near me, it's where I go to get retro games/consoles. They also repair disks from what I know but I'm not too sure and some of those games that don't work I most likely lost...

When I think of the GameCube, the very first game I think of is Luigi's Mansion.
The second game I think of when someone mentions the GameCube is Super Smash bros. Melee.
I'm in the process of making the most ultimate GameCube ever. I pretty much have all the accessories i can get for it, I just need one more wavebird controller and then this fully armed and operational GameCube shall be complete

What's the problem with players choice? 98% of the time it's exactly the same, except it says players choice. Hell, even sometimes pc copies have additional stuff and bug fixes!
Original Cases are worth more.
When it's a players choice that means its a reproduction and not an original
Case looks band man
when you put games on a bookshelf, the spines of the case face outwards. the blinding highlighter yellow contrasts hard with the rest of one's collection.

Ive been looking into getting a gamecube recently. I mainly want to play Sunshine and Animal Crossing.

I would probably get the n64, with Ocarina of time and majoras mask, I absolutely LOVE the Zelda series :) If I were to get a GameCube, I'd probably go for wind waker and melee, both FANTASTIC games.
I would definitely add mario kart, Mario golf, turok evolution, final Fantasy Cristal chronicles, and Prince of persia.

I was able to accumulate 3 Gamecubes locally back in 2010, I got one for 30 in a bundle, another one for 2.99, and another for 9.99 (in the box) and a nice stack of games for under $100

The games I would get with a $100 budget will be Tales of Symphonia, Megaman Anniversary Collection, Animal Crossing, and SoulCalibur 2.

In Europe we seem to have much better prices for starting Gamecube collecting. Thank God, because from what I've seen of the prices in the states and Canada, it is hard for you guys.
Gamecube plus Waverace, Mario Kart, and Mario Golf (the Gamecube Edition was the best) and I'd be good for a long time. :)
everyone keep in mind he's taking into account auction prices. if u buy it straight off the bat its gonna be more expensive depending on where u live

I would suggest Mario Strikers Charged for about $25-30. Very fun soccer game that is great for couch co-op/versus.

Most of my favorite gamecube games are really expensive, like paper mario thousand year door and smash bros melee
These are not nintendo exclusives but X-men legends games are super cheap and provide multiplayer fun or single player. F-zero is also really good and can be had for $20 range

As of January 2021. GameCube are going for around 70 bucks. I suggest you just get a backwards compatible wii for starting collectors. So you can play and collect game cube games and Wii games

I'd get Melee for sure, it's just such an obligatory GameCube staple. I understand that you focused on single player games since you wanted to keep the hardware price down, but even then I think it's a no brainier.

I usually like to think that after super mario 64 King boo captured Mario which creates the plot to Luigi's Mansion and then after king boo is defeated Sunshines begins
I got Luigi's mansion from a goodwill for $3 and works perfectly
I would get a Gamecube with Resident Evil 4, Mario Kart Double Dash, and Paper Mario.
For $100/£75 I would buy A couple gamecubes, approximately 10 games and a gamecube player. I collect Gamecubes and normally you can pickup a gamecube for about £20 boxed or £15 unboxed. If you check round local charity shops you can usually get gamecube games pretty cheap ranging from £2 to £5. I got my silver gamecube unboxed for a steal at £10 and metroid for £2! My collection of gamecube games is getting pretty big now, I think I've amassed 133 games, 7 consoles and 12 controllers so far.
With tax you may have to subtract Animal Crossing lol.
I would buy melee in pieces, the case for like 10, the disc for 30 (scratched) and then resurface it, and the manual for 7, making it only 47$, not over 50 :)
The Metroid Prime I have comes with a bonus disc of Metroid Prime 2 demo
Gamecube, controllers, smash. If I have to add my soul to the $100 to get smash I would do it.
