Awesome. I am really pleased with this video. That is a strong list, what are your thoughts on other Bowmores? I know it has a little stigma around it. Cheers!
Fascinating list illuminated by the king of the tasting notes -- Jeff. But the absolute highlight was you opening the bottle of Port Charlotte. Great editing decision to leave it in in real time. Kanpai!
This is my fave video that you have made Jeff!! Love it!! I admit I pay a lot for Lagavulin - 16 and the 2022 12 and the 3rd Offerman expression - but it’s number 1 for me every time! I love your 5 selections sooo much!! Fabulous!! I would have made Lagavulin #1 but it’s all good - all in good fun! I am bored with the Laphroaig 10 but this Laphroaig is spectacular!!! You rock!! Spectacular video!!
Thanks Christine, really means alot and was proud with how this one came out. I was meant to wait till next week to release it but couldn't wait! 😂 I revisited the Lagavulin 8yo last night and was really impressed by it and can see it shooting up the list! What has been your favourite Offerman expression? I was impressed by the stout one! Thanks for getting involved!
@@JeffWhisky Yes I think the Lagavulin 8 is terrific and it's sold at a much more reasonable price! I loved the second Offerman - the Stout expression! Delicious! My favourite was the third offering - Charred Oak Cask - loved it so much!! If you ever see it try and grab it Jeff!! Cheers!! 🙂
Quality video buddy and I love all the choices and it’s never easy. Even the “Hugo-Dhal” one of my first ever islay bottles I bought after laga 16. Really interested in the Stoisha, I’ll need to look out for that. Keep the content coming amigo. Slainte
Cheers Kevin! Was surprised just how tough it was, be great to hear your thoughts on a similar video. Staoisha pickings seem pretty slim from looking around, hope you find a banger! Cheers
Oh nice idea! I might do this too in the future. Not a fan of the Uig compared to the other Ardbeg releases but I’d shove loads of laphroaigs in there. Try the 16! My favourite yet! Love the port Charlotte too that’s definitely in there
Please do get involved mtae, love to hear your take on this Islay war! I have heard so many good things about the Laphroaig 16 but so pricey a bottle. Cheers mate!
PC10 Uber alles! I also love the Senaig, might have to try Machir Bay. I’m also sipping the Elenents of Isla Sherry cask finish which is 3/4 Laphroaig to 1/4 Coal Isla - 2 birds with one stone AND delicious. A Bowmore bottling from the late ‘90s would make my top 5. There’s probably an Arsbeg I’d love but they have too many releases to keep up with…
Always looked at those elements bottles but yet to try. Really that good yeah? Few places seem to have it on offer. Same with those Ardbeg releases, I was really tempted by the new port release but far too pricey! Cheers!
@@JeffWhisky I love sherried peat, so it's right up my alley. The Laphroaig flavour isn't totally drowned out, I'm happy I bought it but not sure if it's permashelf LIKE THE PC10.
Just what I needed as I try exploring more peaty scotches. I might not be a full blown peathead yet, but if there are some gems out there for me to try, I trust you to point me in the right direction!
Hope it is of help buddy. I am sure when I return to this list maybe a year down the line it could be very different but every bottle for me is a banger. Look forward hearing about your peat dive! Cheers
Thanks for watching Raeth! Sherry Oak is a special bottle for me. For the Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair I think it is the almost chocolately note that I get on the taste which really gives it another level. Almost a bit salty nutella. Will have to pour myself a glass now... Cheers!
Batch variation didn't even pop into my mind when put this together. The Lagavulin 16 certainly seems to be king of consistency which I should have taken into account... I will try Octomore one day! Cheers for getting involved Dram Dribbler!
In no particular order PC10, Bunna 10 CS 2022 (although might not fulfil price criteria), Kilchoman Sanaig, Ardbeg Corry and Laphroaig Quarter Cask. It must be noted that 2 latter are so to say 'historical' and I don't know if they still stand up to fight.
A VERY strong list. How do you find the Corry compares to the other Ardbegs like Uigeadail and Ao? Looked at it a few times but yet to get to try. Cheers for getting involved!
.. winning the „Chill filtered to death“ award? Or the „aged in weak, inactive casks“ price? Seriously, Lagavulin 16 was my first whisky love, but it’s getting weaker and weaker over the years.
That is the right attitude! Hopefully able to get some soon but I think Whisky Baron maybe a little bit of a stretch! Thanks for watching and supporting buddy, really means alot! Slap on!
Great video Jeff. A high QPR (Quality - Price ratio) video would be a good one for down the road. Be interested to hear your thoughts on 'overperformers'.
Thank you buddy, yeah I think a best bang for buck price range could be helpful in a "What YOU should pay for Whisky" TH-cam style title will have to be done. 😂 Cheers!
Need to try one of those Stoicha bottlings, and I’ve got the Laphroaig Sherry but it remains unopened. I would have to go 5 - Laphroaig CS, 4 - Uigeadail, 3 - Bunna 12 CS, 2 - Sanaig 1 - Port Charlotte 10 Still so many I need to try. Great list and video 👍
Thanks Mathew! I am on the hunt for other bottles of it to compare! When you do open your Laphroaig 10 Sherry, I really hope you love it as much as I do. Brilliant list, with lots of high abv, cheers!
Great funny video Jeff 🤣 I really like Kilchoman Machir Bay. I haven't tried the Cask Strength Machir Bay yet. Also like the Ardbeg Uigeadail. Rounding out my top 5 would be Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength, Port Charlotte 10, and Port Askaig 100 proof. Cheers!
Thanks Simonne, I do always fear that people don't have the same humour as me 😂 Port Askaig 100 proof is meant to be stunning, I really need to get to trying it! Cheers for getting involved.
Hi Jeff, for me my list would include,Ugi, port Charlotte 10, Kilchoman Islay barley (it’s a bit pricey though),Laphraiog QC and Laga 8. Think a quality/price video would be certainly interesting. Slàinte Jeff🥃
Very strong list David! I am with you on the Laga 8, I had a couple of samples but popped my bottle tonight and it is blowing me away! Fantastic stuff. Cheers
I have never owned a bottle, core range or indie. BUT I do certainly have a love for it and agree it is massively underrated, what would be your recommendations to get? Cheers Garry
I do have a soft spot for Caol Ila and I think if I have had more experience with the 12, maybe it could have made the list. Are you a Coal Ila fan? Cheers for watching!
Not that you're predictable you young slapper but I guessed your number one. I wouldn't say mine is better, it's just based on what I currently have or have had in my collection. I don't have a massive Islay collection so my choice is limited. Here's mine, I obviously need to gain more Islay experience and bottles but here we go- 1. Laphroaig 10 Sherry 2. Signatory Caol Ila 9yo 1st fill sherry cask 3. Laphroaig Lore 4. Lagavulin 16 distillers edition 5. Bunnahabhain Toiteach A Dhà
I did think to throw a curve bottle and not pick it as my number one but it is so darn good! Really strong list, I bet that Laga 16 Distillers edition is magical, didn't even know it existed! Cheers for getting involved even if you list is better... not.
That PC10 is an absolute beauty and it deserves an extra credit to be mentioned with the big boys of Islay with it's peat actually coming from the mainland! That's why it tastes more earthen and not so medicinal and iodine dominated. Great list except for number 1 😂 Cheers my friend 🥃
Truly is, and you have opened my mind. I didn't know it was mainland peat? Surely that adds more miles to making a bottle. Love to hear what your list would be mate! Cheers.
@@JeffWhisky Yeah most if not all peated barley Octomore and Port Charlottes use are coming from mainland. It was the same case with Ardbeg Hypernova and that's why a lot of people were underwhelmed with the peat on that one. Port Ellen Maltings can only smoke the barley up to a certain level of Peat ppm and anything above that distilleries have to find other ways. Well Lore has to be there, Corryvreckan, any sigle ex-bourbon cask Kilchomans above age 10, Laphroaig Cairdeas PX and I think I'll go for Lagavulin 12, preferrably 2018 but any year is good for me :)
Haha they often poke out, however I try to keep them on the downlow as was never finished! More important things like whisky to spend the money on! 😂 Cheers.
I have been waiting a long time to use the "now we know" clip! Glad the godfather clip landed too spent too long making the lightning work on the bottle! Cheers Mitch!

yes and no further questions
DARN! Feel I priviledged to be mentioned in the intro 😍
Thanks for shining a light on these Islay whiskies, Jeff.
