Red Alert has gone full circle in being part of an emergency response unit. His Japanese self was law enforcement, his G1 self was a fire fighter and his 2000's self was a medical responder.

I mean, he himself said that he was a medic.
Or maybe the creators of the show are complete screw-ups and never bothered to do their research on certain characters.

In the Siege show, on the very first episode no less, Red Alert himself says that (in this continuity) before the war started, he was a doctor already ahead of time. Hence his ability to tend to the damaged and dead, he has a somewhat kind and caring nature, and he did say that eventually the Autobots handed him a blaster and he became a soldier.
To me, the Armada/Cybertron Red Alert is my favorite out of the other Red Alert's that exists. Plus he is somewhat of a homage to Robocop too with that visor. How cool isn't that?
Plus, he was actually that series' version of Ratchet.

My favorite is the Armada/Cybertron one! I wish he would appear more, his design was so much more unique than a sideswipe remold.

More proof that we really need that deluxe and expanded CGI remake of 'The Movie' with all the deleted scenes animated and reinserted into the story. Now that would be one hell of a 40th Anniversary present.
I honestly thought that the Female version of Red Alert that appeared in Animated was supposed to be Minerva. The Guys behind Animated know their Transformers and I wholly expected obscure characters to appear throughout the series, which made me assume it was her.
My first introduction to the character, was the Armada version. I can understand the G1 version being a security officer, that suffers from paranoia. But I always thought of him being a medic.
Despite being mainly a G1 fan, I tend to like Armada Red Alert best. I just like the design better.
Surprised you didn't mention when talking about Powerlinx Red Alert that this was the point when Hasbro discovered that the Red Cross doesn't let you put their symbols on toys.
Also, that is one wealthy fire chief if he sticks a lightbar on a Countach and declares it's property of the station.
@Blind as a sighted person Red Cross thought Hasbro's use of the symbol would mean the opposite. After it was settled in court, Hasbro began using other symbols for future incarnations of Ratchet (Takara-Tomy sometimes slaps the Autobot symbol in front of the cross.)
I just cannot countenance a Lamborghini belonging to a fire department, but then what do the Autobots know about the world they settled? It would have made more sense if the Daiclone mould that became Skids was instead used to depict Red Alert.

@Blind as a sighted person The Red Cross fights uses of their symbol as a generic "medical" symbol (when they're aware of it) because people thinking of it as one detracts from its actual intended meaning of "we are noncombatants, please don't shoot us." Technically it was wrong on Ratchet to begin with and he should have had one of those blue asterisk things instead (although I think that would have ended up looking weird in robot mode).

RED ALERT= The concept of an paranoid security officer is an interesting one.
TRAILBREAKER= He has an really unique alt mode and powers, as well as an interesting personality, especially in IDW 2005.
BRAINSTORM= two words “LOST LIGHT”
GRAPPLE= He is a pretty unique bot, being an architect and all.
WHIRL= He is my favorite wrecker.
BROADSIDE= The idea of an transformer that transforms into an boat and an plane being air sick and sea sick.
BLURR= Always been an fan of speedy boots.
BLUESTREAK= He had many funny lines in G1.
BEACHCOMBER= He is an pretty unique bot, being an hippie and also that episode “THE GOLDEN LAGOON”
I remember the Armada version of Red Alert somewhat well. The scene of him that always stuck with me was the wounding of Smokescreen by Megatron and him working to save his friend

I’m not sure why, but Red Alert has always been one of my favorite Transformers. I love how G1 Red is kinda just a big Nixon parody, and Armada Ref was my favorite character in that show when I was a kid.
Red Alert’s never been a big one for me, but he is definitely one of the good old reliable secondaries. My first was Animated so you can imagine my confusion when I found Red Alert normally is not female.
Gonna throw in my two big requests:
1. Sunstreaker and his history as one of the more lesser good Autobots & his origin as the “first” Transforming toy.
2. Sky Lynx to coincide with the release of his magnificent Earthrise toy. And also he’s only one among my Top 5 Autobots that hasn’t been Basic’d yet.
I want to fulfil everyone's request for Sky Lynx, but I'm paranoid he's going to appear in the Earthrise cartoon before the end of the year and immediately outdate the episode, so I'm holding myself back!
Chris McFeely Hmm would think end of the year may be too soon for the Earthrise cartoon, but still yes that’s true there is that possibility he may grace the cartoon with his marvelous presense.

It would have been interesting to see her as a toy. The use of van kibble as a long jacket or skirt is a clever alternative to parts-forming.
doubtful to be taken very well to fans of the character due to him primarily being depicted as male, though that might be me being a big fan of Cybertron's depiction of the character who while being cautious and logical had a humorous side and the voice acting really selling it
They could have UT and Animated Red Alerts be their own characters. The Animated one could be given the name Alert while the UT incarnation could be given the name of Blue Alert to fit his medic persona.

Hearing about the originals paranoia, I'm surprised no one made an alternate universe version of read alert, where he kills all the transformers or at least the Hasbro universe.
I grew up with the Unicron Trilogy Red Alert.

Same,I like female red alert over regular red alert cuz I find regular red alert to be both annoying and dull(minus MTMTE)plus I'm not against the idea of gender bending characters TFA red Alert and dragstrip being prime example.

I was introduced to transformers during the transition stage between Armada and Energon. Armada Red Alert was the first character i ever wanted, But I ended up getting Energon Rodimus instead (due to store availability my parents couldn't find him). I finally scratched that itch when I got Seige and later Earthrise Red Alert.
I remember being a kid and walking into the toyshop and picking g1 red alert as a birthday present.this video brought back a lot of good memories.thank you😃
G1 Red has always been one of my favorites. I love playing as that skin in the Devastation game. I understood the references of him being a medic in the Netflix series, but was also a bit confused by it, since he should be the security guy.

I've said this before, but I've always been partial to emergency themed toys. I was the kid in kindergarten that wanted to be the policeman and after the military that was the path I followed into adulthood. Before get their though, I owned nearly every police, fire, and medical themed toy along the way.
I have owned almost every version of Prowl, Inferno, Red Alert, Ratchet, Barricade, etc. The Protectobots have always been my favorite team. And it wasn't just Transformers either. In GI Joe, I owned nearly every Doc, Lifeline, Law and Order, etc. And then there was my favorite cartoon of all time. The one that, along with aunt who was a sergeant in DC Metro, put me on the path I followed; C.O.P.S. Central Organization of Police Specialists. God I LOVED that show. Its always broken my heart that it didn't stick around longer and has never been rebooted.

My fan thoery of how Red Alert along with the other Autobots and Decepticons who joined the show in the second season, is that they came to earth from Cybertron during the events in Season 1 Ultimate Doom. When Cybertron came in close proximity to earth.
But as kids, we always considered the events in the comics on how they got there, also happened in between episodes.
I recently got one that was called deep cover but was just basically a recolor of Red Rlert in blue coloring, so I've nicknamed it "Code Blue"

But yeah, I grew up in the 2000’s, and I think my first transformers to ever was a Happy Meals Armada Red Alert! How’s that for an origin story?
When I first saw Transformers Armada as a kid, I had assumed that Hot Shot and Red Alert had always been big, popular characters among the Autobots, seeing as they were palling around Earth with Optimus. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Hot Shot was just a replacement for Bumblebee--and that Ratchet was the original Autobot medic!
How about the look of G1 red alert with the personality of the Unicron trilogy red alert?

animated red alert was my first introduction to the character, so she sticks out in my mind more than she probably does for others when they think of the character lol. if i had my own continuity i'd have the main medic role filled by an animated-inspired red alert, we need more callbacks that aren't just to G1.
I get that. I think it's tough to keep using Ratchet as the de facto Autobot medic mostly because Animated (and Prime) did him so well, to the point that almost any future take on the character feels derivative. We need some other healers to get the spotlight!
I'd personally love to see a Red Alert that incorporates the neuroses of their G1/IDW incarnation with the cynical soldier of Armada, and (as controversial as it probably is for long time fans of the character) I'd probably have her as a woman just to further distinguish Red Alert from the rest of the cast. That said, I almost feel like Transformers could really use more optimistic, chipper medics, like RID2015's Fixit or IDW's Nickel, so I'd maybe be a little hesitant with using Red Alert as the main Autobot medic, or at least not without major changes to their usual portrayal.

Absolutely love these videos, as for my favorite iteration, its almost always the IDW comics version. IDW had some of the best story telling of all time and im sad they rebooted their Transformers, its just not the same now
I do like the idea of Red Alert as a medic. It helps to flush out the Autobot's medical staff. Ratchet gets to be the CMO, Red Alert is the combat/field medic, and Hoist gets to be a nurse practitioner of sorts.

Gotta say, despite it being completely out of character, I love the cybertron defence version
He was a massive, hulking figure compared to the others, with a big kickass rocket you could fire off or use as a cannon.
He looked pretty good scaled next to regular cars too, as he was based on a soviet BTR-80 APC and thus would naturally tower over most of them.
And he was also my childhood favourite

Despite being a G1 tragic, I kinda like the Unicron Trilogy Red Alert, mostly because I enjoyed playing him in the 2004 computer game, developed in my home town of Melbourne.
Speaking of G1 however, I was noticing the animation model differences between Red Alert and Sideswipe, and it reminded me to ask, will there be more Art Of The Transformers videos? I know they take a lot of work, but they're also fascinating. :)
I loved Red Alert in Cybertron growing up. I really hope we get some toys modernizing that version of the character in the future.

Fun fact, the gun that Megatron kills Prime with in the Transformers movie is Red Alerts. The deleted scene where he gets gunned down shows his weapon fall to the ground exactly where Megatron finds it later.

I admit, it was weird seeing Red Alert as a medic in the Neflix shows and aswell Ratchet was an Engineer first!
They did explain that Ratchet quit due to the large number of casualties on both sides.
A note on Japanese transformers: the Cybertron Red Alert is known in Galaxy Force as "First Aid". As Galaxy Force had no relation to Superlink (unlike Cybertron with Energon), he had no relation to the Red Alert character that already existed.
When Primus upgraded him his name became "First Gunner". Despite having the base form of what looks like a SCUD Missile Launcher, and having arsenal that would make Warpath jealous, he still remains the team medic.;3

My favorite is probably IDW Red Alert, primarily because he's essentially the only one I really know, but also because I like his characterization.
I like to see a video about the basics of my favorate character, Whirl. But I must warn you about his IDW incarnation: his backstory has been split in multiple peices in the comics.

IDW Red Alert is definetley best Red Alert. I loved how theytreated his paranoia as an actual illness and gave him a real character arc. All other version have been way too bland.
I loved Armada’s Red Alert. That’s my definitive one.
Chris, It's 5 a.m...
Considering how a lot of firefighters could double as paramedics/emts in emergencies, it would only make sense for Red Alert's depiction to include such role. I say it fits him.
Red Alert has always been a favorite of mine so I'm glad we finally got this episode! His showcase episode was always my favorite and I enjoyed the odd relationship between him and Inferno. Here's hoping that Red Alert keeps on woowoowoowing in the WFC cartoon.

I love the last line about the new Net Flix version. It really makes one wonder how much the characters change over time through all that trauma. Red Alert was an interesting character, but I never really missed him when he didn't make any more big appearances.
