Honestly, I really like this guy, robot mode and all. He was one of my favorites, becuase of his gimmicks and had a lot of play value imo. Interesting trivia about the blobby Autobot symbol: It was cost saving matter, and Hasbro figured no one would care if the faction symbols were just all one color. But fans complained, and Hasbro listened, and Wave 3, becuase it was too late to fix it for wave 2, they started having detailed faction symbols
I still think when Armada gets to it's second half and becomes more accurate to the Japanese dub (especially during the Unicron battles) it still holds up. Still the best final Optimus and Megatron/Galvatron fight we've gotten in TF to date.
imo the whole trilogy got shafted by being so rushed, i watched the whole thing and found that it really is the dubbing and the animation that hold it back, because the story is really neat and the characters are surprisingly compelling, but it just got butchered in the execution

The first episode of what they consider the second season is all on model, and while there is some episodes that suffer from being rushed, half way throw the animation blunders become far fewer, with the last quarter in particular being really well done, like the Nemesis Prime episode.
My first ever transformers figure I got as a kid growing up. For that reason I miss it terribly and remember it fondly. All the armada line holds a special place
My favorite take on Red Alert, looks great with my RID early 2000s Prime. Looks a bit like X-Men cyclops similar personality too. I love how his gun flips out. I think he kills it in both modes.
I think I might be pretty biased on this figure since it was my first Transformer, ever. But I love everything about it. Heck, if this figure had an update (not the Cybertron figure), I'd be over the moon
My childhood Red Alert with the same little batteries from 2002 still has working lights and sounds. Most nostalgic figure in my collection for sure. He's also a big solid brick that you could definitely throw through a window. Love him.
I got the 2007 Crankcase recolor, and he's one of my favorite figures ever. Too bad all versions of this mold feature a lot of transluscent plastic in dangerous places or with a lot of paint to protect. I even got a second, incomplete Crankcase if the main one suffers breakage or paint chips
That was my first transformer toy ever, I have every single repaint of that mold, and I still have the original that I rebuilt from childhood, and even one still mint in the box. I love it so much. Articulation is meh and electronics are hilarious, but I have a very soft spot in my heart for it.

This guy was part of the first wave. I was so excited to see my favorite brand returning to vehicles instead of beasts. And this was what we got. Almost killed the collector in me.
It even sounds like his voice saying WOOWOOWOO Imagine the totally serious Red Alert with his head up on his hood, making police car noises as he speeds down the road having a fun time.
As someone who got this guy for his 12th birthday, and still owns it. I can safely say yes it's not a fun toy to play around with except for the gimmicks. I wish Legacy gave us an updated version of it. I'd bet if done right it could be a really cool gen figure. That is if Hasbro stays true to the theme of Legacy updating figures from all across of the TF universes. NOT! here's Laser Prime, Arcee (Prime), and Bulkhead. Folllowed by a bunch of G1 characters
I'm hoping they turn the jeep from the Jurassic Park set into him, it's WAYYYYYYYYYYY too perfect. But I'm betting they'll use some other unrelated/unfitting figure.
One of the things I observed when I collected Armada, because I somehow ended up getting Hasbro Autobots and Takara Decepticons, is that Takara put in a little bit of extra effort on the paint apps, especially the faction symbols which were actually properly painted with the lines and everything and not just one giant glob of paint.
Got mine in 2018, I was stoked to get one. He was complete, and didn't break the bank. Since then i have been very fond of Red Alert and Longarm. His articulation is hampered by kibble but that doesn't matter to me. Nice video by That Toy Guy, he mightn't be fond of Armada Red Alert but the content was good.
tbh i like this design, the proportions aren’t quite right but i like the almost organic sculpting on the limbs and the car parts kind of make it feel like he’s wearing an overcoat or labcoat or something, once again i am hoping for a remake in legacy
Well... I can see your points. I can agree that the proportions and the articulation could been better. But... Considoring what eals was on shealfs with him at the time, (f. e Hotshot) I still think this is one of better Armada figures as an whole.
@@dedalionarts6077 The Supermode ruins it for me personally. Vehicle mode and Basemode is great though, but Supermode is just basically a brick. Not so much fun to play with either imo
@@92Raider-art fair enought. Granted, from I had heard and seen, Prime with, or with out the supermode is still more or less a brick. What also doesn't help are the gold plastic elbows, aka GPS. And let's not forget the horror stories of his trailer CATHING FIRE on it's own. Heck, Baltmatrix in his review said he had this happen 1/2 times allready.
I have the same Prime you showed at 0:29 and I gotta say ooof time has not been kind to mine. Paint chipping everywhere, especially the feet and chest grill. He's missing one of his smokestack cannons too. Yours look pristine in comparison. Still a great figure though. One of my favorites.
The Energon redec of Red Alert into Prowl 2 pack with Starscream was one of my first experiences with Transformers as a kid, and even as a kid I thought the Red Alert design was weird.
I have this guy in my storage locker. I was messing with him a few weeks ago. It was my brother’s so it might have been the first time I’ve ever played with him. It’s not that bad. I’m definitely looking forward to the new Age of the Primes update.
Now that we have both Hot Shot and Optimus, I hope this guy gets a Legacy update as well. I doubt it would have *all* the gimmicks of course, but it’d be great to have the entire beginning Autobot cast.
I… kinda like this toy better than the cybertron toy but less than the cybertron defense toy. It is a weird weird toy. But there’s something so joyous to me of just nobody telling the the designers “no, that’s enough features” that it’s a baffling and fun experience for me.

It's red. His name is RED Alert, not Orange Alert. He has NO orange paint, it's all red. The windows, the tail lights, the Autobot logo, the stripe on the side, they're all the same color, RED.
Jeez, seeing all the hate the Unicron Trilogy gets from the Prime and G1 fanbases sums up why I'm glad I watched BotBots over those two overrated war cartoons.

I gotta ask, does the animation ever improve? I couldn't get through the first season due to just how lacking it was.

Agreed! There was certainly worse but this is no way near as bad as say Optimus Prime Super Mode

Yesterday was my birthday, and I got Titans Return Fortress Maximus and it's big, blue, red, and HEAVY.
