    This is an awesome series, possibly one of the best you've done (I watch them all) because you explain so thoroughly how to fix a very bad yard. I basically did this (slight difference) to my inlaws very bad yard. I also used Q4 which did an incredible job of killing the crabgrass. I'm now in the waiting period and watching the bermuda start to spread. This is in the Huntsville, Alabama area. Keep the great videos coming!!

    Finally an example of what my yard looks like exactly! I got crabgrass I got clover baby I got it all but earlier this year I started treating my lawn for the first time in 12 years same lawn. The bermuda grass has spread really well over the summer now I am starting to put down fall premergent . I will know next year how to treat my bermuda perfect because I had no idea about grass weeds this year i only killed the dandelions lol!

    Q4 works great! I used it on a ditch in front of my house. As Doc said, read the label because it will kill other types of desired grasses. I have St. Augustine in my front due to a large Live Oak Tree and Q4 will kill St. Augustine. When I sprayed my ditch and another area in the front, I made sure that I did a hard stop line with my sprayer so I did not kill more St. Austine than I wanted. Fast forward a few months and I do not have weeds in my ditch, and the Bermuda grass has mostly taken over.

    Thank you for a great video to help all those (OK.....me) who don't know much about lawn care, but would like to improve the health and appearance of our (OK.....my) lawns. I'm in transition zone using mix of fescue, KBG, and ryegrass. I aerated and put down seed this fall, but after seeing this video, I wish I had waited. My lawn is 80% weeds and most are the same ones shown in this video. I also have ants, but luckily not fire ants. But come next fall, I'll have your plan and recommendations to help me launch my own attack! :-) Very helpful!!

    Great video! I have a few areas in my yard that have bare patches from Comcast digging in a new line about a month ago. I have runners moving in but have been reluctant to put down PE. The weeds are starting to peek through in my lawn. Can I use this method for killing the weeds without hurting my bare spot reclamation projects? Would a liquid PE be a better choice? Thanks!

  • @Doublethizzle
    @Doublethizzle 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    First off - Thank you for making this info available - *THANKS* a bunch.
    Having said that this is super frustrating for me. It's not because my yard is just over 100k sqft. and I already know this is going to get expensive. It's not because my yard is a test area for Mother Nature and any new weed that needs to be created. It's not because I have moved into a neighborhood that, while there is no HOA, you kind of need to keep up with the Jones'.
    It is none of that. What is so frustrating is that when all the money has been spent. When all the time has been taken. When you have had conversation after conversation with the neighbors on how all of "this" will not work. After all of that . . . you end up with a lawn that has Bermuda grass.
    Bermuda grass, the last ditch effort for southern lawns. It's not much, but at least it's green. (I am pretty sure that is how they advertised when they first came out with this stuff)

    I've watched several videos on fixing an ugly lawn. I have an ugly lawn myself and I've purchased all the products you've used. My questions is should I apply everything in one day as you did in this video or should I spread pre-emergent and spray weed killer first and then wait a week or two to push lawn with Humichar and PGF complete? It is 5/13 and application day will probably be 5/16-5/18. temps will be in the 80's and no rain for a week when I apply. I know in this video it was august so I was thinking maybe that is why you did everything in one day. Would that be fine to do in mid May or should I hit weeds first and then in a week or two fertilize and water? Thanks

    Do you have any suggestions for killing monkey grass? My backyard is covered in it.

    I don’t think I’ve seen you make a video on this...but could you recommend a solution to my problem. I keep having patches of centipede grass pop up in my lawn. What would be the best way to eradicate? My neighbors yard is centipede so I’m assuming this is where it’s coming from.

    Does this work for other types of grass? How do you tell what kind of grass you have? I live in idaho.

    At the ordering site, the labels on the double kill package didn't have enough resolution to be able to read them. We have a lot of cats, cats that enjoy lounging on the lawn. Is this product harmful to cats, dogs, or other pets that might come into contact with it?

    Doc, I think I may have messed up. I dethatched my yard and I think I tore up all my bermuda babies... very sparse. Think it will come back this summer?

      Yes, we never dethatch Bermuda. It should be fine. Feed and water and relax. You can't kill Bermuda just make it ugly for a while.

    As usual a very informative video. Thanks Doc. My lawn and soil have greatly improved. It’s not your fault but I just wish I didn’t have to see Stacy Abrams begging for $ at the beginning of every video.

    any one know what the repercussions are of using the 30:1 sprayer? They have the 20:1 in stock but the companies are selling them for 60 bucks a pair.
