- Baby Orangutan Myrtle is 7 months old in this video and she is getting a great
climbing lesson from her mother Sarikei who is a very experienced mom.
She is constantly pushing her Daughter to learn new skills.
The adorable 7 month old baby is 40 year old Sarikei's 4th baby and is a wonderful ray of hope to the survival of these amazing rare critically endangered animals
We have released many videos of this adorable baby girl are available to watch on this channel and more videos have been recorded of the baby at different progressive stages of her development over the last 7 months and will follow this series in order of recording date
Chester Zoo Baby Orangutans
Birth of critically endangered orangutan at Chester Zoo
Chester Zoo is has a very successful record of Orangutan births at the zoo and most of the Orangutan Mothers are able to rear their own young without the assistance of zoo staff, this is largely due to the expert care and facilities the World Class Zoo provides for the animals.
The current animal population have had valuable experience with babies and have observed relatives caring for young, using this learning and experience to enable them to rear their own offspring
Critically Endangered Orangutans
Bornean Orangutans have been considered critically endangered since 2016 with an only an estimated 100,000 left in the wild. They are seriously in danger of extinction which makes the birth of this new baby orangutan very special indeed

Sarikei's like, "Myrtle, it's time for you to learn how to climb elsewhere. I'm tired of you climbing on me 24/7". Seriously, Primate mothers are the best, especially Orangutans who are longer with their kids than any other primate. Sarikei is just so an amazing mom and so good to her daughter and son.
I feel so bad for Jingga and Jarang, but we don't know their situation. For all we know, Jingga may be a good mom, too, doing her best if there is something physically wrong with Jarang that Blackpool Zoo isn't releasing to the public. Looking forward to your updated videos coming soon. I can't watch any on videos on those two until there are more recent videos. The fact that you have some updated and recent videos coming means that at least Jarang is still alive. That means JIngga must be doing something right. I am hoping anyway.
